I have kind of a mixed review. The sound that this makes works every time, pretty much without fail assuming baby is fed/changed/warm. It's kind of a "duh" concept but sometimes those are the best gadgets!

I had been using the Shusher app and loved it, but wanted my iPad back so I went ahead and bought the speaker. Sadly the app is much better. It can run continuously or with a timer that is anywhere from 15 minutes to several hours, there is an "equalizer" feature that adjusts the volume according to the baby's crying and turns the noise off of the baby is quiet for a certain length of time.

It's crazy to me that the free app is leaps and bounds better than the $35 product. The speaker is cute and i don't have the issues with the design that other people seem to be having, but it's just not as good as it should be. Probably returning.

Great Sound Bad Product

I was really conflicted giving this review because as a product, it totally works! My son falls asleep within minutes of putting the shusher on, however the product breaks and the design is flawed and that is disappointing for how expensive it is. The batteries die pretty easily so I would have made it chargeable. Also, the speaker is at the base so you cannot set it down and the lanyard needs to be a bit bigger. I also would make a setting that allows it to run continuously, it's so annoying that at most it will run for 30 min, but my son needs it for his whole 2 hour nap to I have to rush in and turn it on again. I actually bought a few and some have broken which is really a bummer and when I contacted customer service from the manufacturer about it, I still haven't heard anything from them.

Baby calms down pretty quick with this

Pros: It works. Baby calms down pretty quick with this. It sounds creepily like a real person. We take it lots of places bec it helps baby rest. The settings are simple. I sometimes use it to prop up a bottle when I need a quick moment to have my hands free. Colors are good so it's easy to find. I usually lay it in the corner of the crib.

Cons: It's too expensive for what it does. Some babies are fine with a cheaper sound machine. It's pretty large and bec of the shape it tends to roll out of the baby carrier. The sound ends too abruptly when the time reaches the end which sometimes wakes the baby. I wish it had a setting for "always on" but it only has 15 min and 30 min. When turning it off and on to restart it the clicks disturb the baby.

Overall: I like it and would buy it again. Hopefully they take the feedback and make improvements.

Worst Purchase Ever.

Does this work miracles to put baby to sleep? Yes! But it is the worst purchase I have ever made? Yes. It only will run for 30 minutes so I have been up every 30 minutes tonight woken up by baby who was woken up by this damn shusher turning off. I've never been so frustrated with a product before. My 10 month old went from waking up every 2-3 hours to every 30min-1hour. I'm exhausted and angry. I try to not use it but it seems like the shusher is the only thing that will get him back to sleep at night. How hard is it to make the shusher run continuously instead of a mere 30 minutes???? I am returning it and already found a shusher that's cheaper and runs continuously. This has been the worst purchase ever.

Works amazing but not durable

I don't normally write reviews but I have a big positive and s big negative for this shusher. The infant photographer used it while we were taking newborn photos and we thought is was super annoying but as soon as my son calmed right down and fell asleep to it, I added one to my amazon cart immediately lol! This thing has helped make nap time and car travels easier and is super simple to use. Now for the bad... if it falls, it will stop working! Although this isn't meant to be a child's toy, it totally needs maybe a rubber case around it instead of hard plastic. My wife accidentally dropped it the first time and it stopped working immediately. There was no visible damage to the outside but the unit was completely dead. I purchased a second shusher last month and my wife left it on the tiny lip of the changing table. My son kicked it off and once again it doesn't work. I've now spent $70 in shushers just to have them break from one small fall. For $35 I expect better quality, otherwise make it cheaper. Disappointed in its durability. I'm angry that the second one broke and I want to buy another one but I really can't justify it.

I have a very difficult newborn who may be colicky according to our pediatrician. As a first time mother this is extremely stressful and frustrating. The image in my mind of sweet evenings cuddling, reading bedtime stories, and rocking blissfully in the nursery are now laughingly unrealistic and have been replaced with the reality of snort-screaming, flailing tiny arms, and desperate pleas from my husband and I for the baby to relax. Someone recommended this baby shusher to me and it sounded ridiculous but we've already spent hundreds of dollars on swings, rock n plays, and swaddles so what's $20 more, right? Holy cow. Why oh why does this thing work? I don't understand. I have read (and found truly helpful) "The Happiness Baby on the Block" and know that the "shushing" sound is soothing to babies but this silly little machine seems to be just the right frequency or speed or something that it actually calms my little devil down. We've found it the most valuable as a white noise to use once he's actually fallen asleep that allows me to do once impossible things like eat something with a fork or put on shoes. Just trust me and buy this thing. It sounds ridiculous, like a recording of a person just shushing over and over again, but the ability to change the volume from very soft to what seems dangerously loud gives a wide range of possibilities and the automatic timer ensures you don't just live with that sound perpetually in the background. I do wish the timer could be extended for a little longer, but you can always restart it! If you're a tired parent it's worth the try, isn't it?

My go-to baby gift

When I first saw this shusher I thought - that is silly, paying that much for a little Shhhhh. Now that I have used it, this is now my go-to baby gift. It truly is magic for my son. If he is crying or having difficulty going to sleep, we turn this on, and he is soothed in less than a minute. I like that it runs for a little bit, then shuts itself off. And, you can adjust the volume to the environment and need.

We have dropped it a dozen times and it has taken some abuse, but still works great.

In 10 months, we have replaced the batteries once so far.

If you are willing to try it, I don't think you will regret it.

It only worked for about 10 mins. I guess I have to change batteries just kind a frustrating with a brand new product like this.

UPDATE- I just changed the batteries on this because it's 2 AA and if course you have to buy them because they are the most common and I don't have them in hand...for 35$ I would think it would have better batteries...change the batteries and NOTHING. I'm SO annoyed because we ordered this for our road trip tomorrow...babies first trip and now this of course doesn't work. Don't waste your money! It's tiny and doesn't play very loud. It's over priced and over hyped. Will NOT recommend.

I hate this thing. It shushes sure, but is designed so awkwardly-you can't lay this anywhere because it's rounded so it is always rolling off things. The only part where you could stand this on the table is where the speaker is, so it muffles the sound. It finally rolled off the table and fell on to the wood floor, and hadn't shushed since.

Worked great for two months

Worked great for two months, now it has a short and intermittently stops or goes fast. Not worth all the money for something that breaks in two months.
