Great Car Mount with a Caveat
by Chris (4 out of 5 stars)
July 8, 2017

I really like the Kenu Airframe+ as it's the only car mount I have found that works with my large Nexus 6P and the bumper around it. I tried other mounts that were magnetic and the adhesive wore out over time, and larger mounts with a swivel arm with a dashboard suction cup that couldn't hold the weight of a large phone.

The Kenu Airframe+ vent mount on the back has a simple option for thick or thin air vents and fits perfectly into the vents on my 2017 Kia Sportage. I have driven with the Kenu Airframe+ for a few weeks and it doesn't bounce or shake at all when I turn corners or hit bumps in the road. The phone holder itself has a very solid grip on the phone and it keeps the phone securely in place. I also like the size and portability of the Kenu Airframe+ so I can carry it in my pocket if I need to use it on my desk or another flat surface.

My only serious complaint here is with the holder for the phone. I knocked it one star because of this. It is impossible for me to easily remove the phone from the Kenu Airframe+ with one hand. I have to remove the Kenu Airframe+ from the air vent, then pull back on the spring with both hands to remove my phone. When I get back into my car, I have to insert my phone back into the Kenu Airframe+ with both hands and put it back into the air vents. Over time, I can see where this repeated removing and inserting the mount into the air vents will either damage my vents or the Kenu Airframe+ rubber mounts on the back.

I wish there was a one button feature that allowed me to easily insert or release my phone in the Kenu Airframe+, otherwise it's annoying having to struggle with the spring mount just to get my phone in and out of the Kenu Airframe+ Hopefully, there is a simple hack that would allow for this to happen. I really love the Kenu Airframe+ but it just needs to be more accessible with one hand.

Very solid and wise engineering
by Bruce_in_LA (5 out of 5 stars)
March 14, 2018

This is clearly much more highly engineered and planned that the cheap ones you get at a carwash for a few dollars.

Look closely at all the AMAZON text and pictures. It is solidly built. It has a firm "clip" that you push to "open" then "lock" the jaws on the vent. One of the main issues is that many car vents are recessed, narrow, or have prominent "finger tabs" that make it hard to "clip". This one works ok with both our cars. A new feature is a ball swivel that lets you turn the phone face somewhat to face you. Since it is nearly flush to the dash and vent, it will be a small pivot. The phone clamp holds my phone firmly (iphone 5SE).

I like using vent phones because (A) the phone is much smarter and more intuitive than my car's built in GPS, and because (B) the vent position gives easy access to a charging cord without the cord running all over the place like to the top of dash or to a window mount. I'm often listening to podcasts or audiobooks for which it is best to have the phone securely and visibly mounted.

Fake product being sold
by DieselDan (1 out of 5 stars)

Be aware that this is a fake product being sold. I contacted kenu and they informed me that the product I purchased is fake replica from China. Looks exactly same as original but the box it came in led me to suspicion.

This one is the real deal.
by E. Hurst (5 out of 5 stars)

This one is the real deal. Of all the junk out there, this one actually works. I travel for a living and keep this little sucker in my travel bag. When I jump in a rental car, this is the first thing I grab. It allows me to keep my familiar iPhone map application in my view in an unfamiliar vehicle. I don't have to take a crash course in a new nav system or chase my phone around the cup holder when trying to negotiate the Jersey Turnpike.

I bought white, so that it stands out and I don't forget to put it back in my bag before returning the rental car, which has happened with 2 black ones.

I have bought other vent mounts for my iPhone 7, but this one is the only one that holds the phone, easily stays put and is easy to use. Not bulky to store, it easily travels. I have a black one that lives in my daily driver.

Broke after 3 Months
by Roses at Sanford (1 out of 5 stars)
October 15, 2018

Bought this directly from Kenu (not the counterfeit version that some users here are warning of, but definitely watch out for that and be mindful of who you're actually buying from on Amazon). I was very excited about this product, especially as I live in a hands-free jurisdiction. Also, because the interior of my car is kinda weird from a design/engineering standpoint, no phone mount I'd come across had really been a good option so far. Another consideration for me: my phone has a larger screen size and is in a protective case, so I needed something that would fit, and there were a lot of products on the market that would not accommodate the size of my phone, especially if I kept it in its case.

This product, on the other hand, was *perfect* . . . but only for three months.

The thing literally fell apart. It would be one thing if I were using it constantly or pulling at it, "abusing" it, etc. constantly . . . but no, I mostly used it on an "as-needed" basis (e.g., I needed to use navigation or talk on the phone while in the car).

I really am sorry to have to say that this turned out to be a piece of junk, because at first, it really seemed to be the perfect solution for me. But $30 for 3 months until it broke? What a rip-off. Maybe if it were even $10 I wouldn't be left with such a bad taste in my mouth.

Given these other reviews, it seems your mileage may vary with this mount depending on your need, amount of use, type and size of phone, etc., but as a piece of advice, just make sure you weigh all of those considerations before clicking "buy." As for my personal experience, however, I can honestly only give one star on this. Wasn't worth it.

Solid vent mount, but too shallow for recessed air vents
by Justin K. (4 out of 5 stars)
November 5, 2017

I prefer a cell phone holder that clips unobtrusively to a vent (as opposed to mounting to the dash or windshield) and is small enough for travel if need be, so I went with a Kenu since I own and very much like the previous generation Airframe+
. This one is marginally bigger because of the clip mechanism and swivel joint that increase the stability and convenience mounting big or heavy cell phones. Price point seems a bit high, but it for sure is not a cheaply-made product.

This takes up very little footprint in your car and once clipped to your vent, it is very sturdy. Note that the vent itself may move, so heavier phones will tilt down due to gravity, and in most cases, that problem is solved by attaching toward the lower third of the phone so that it has little room to tilt before resting on the console face.

Unfortunately, this one won't mount to any recessed vents, such as the center horizontal vents of a 2017 Lexus ES 350, where there's not enough clearance above or below for the shallow clips to grab onto something. If the vent clips were longer, it could protrude deeper into a recessed vent for secure contact.

Love It
by Matthew J. Nakhla (5 out of 5 stars)

I've bought 2 others like this. First one I got from Wal-Mart was $10 and it was good, but started coming apart. Then got one off amazon for the same price and was super annoying to use. I decided to fork up the money for this one and i love it. It opens smoothly and holds my s8 in its case well. Highly recommend it.

Simple, easy to use, but doesn't work on all vent types
by OutdoorEnthusiast (4 out of 5 stars)
September 1, 2016

I've been using this Kenu for a couple of years now and have since bought several as gifts to people who admired mine when I was driving. It seems to hold my iPhone 6S in place very well, but it almost requires two hands to take the phone out if you want the clip to stay on the vent. You can minimize the phone covering the vent but some of the vent will always be covered up so you'll lose some air flow. I have noticed that it will not work on all cars as you have to have a flat squared vent so that you can get a tight fit on the vent slits. My Legacy middle vents won't work because they are angled but the side square vents work fine. Overall, this is a handy little phone mount that is simple and easy to use compared to some of the over complicated phone mounts that are available.

DON'T. EVEN. CONSIDER.
by Jay Winters (1 out of 5 stars)
December 5, 2017

This thing sucks. Doesn't hold on to the vent worth a darn. Wobbles with any shake of the vehicle. You have to use two hands to secure it on the mount AND THEN put it in the vent. Because if you try to put your phone on the mount when it's on the vent, the whole thing will come off the vent. Never been more disappointed in an Amazon product that was so highly rated. Had to return this one the day after I bought it. I bought a different CD player mounted holder that tightens down = $10. Less than HALF the price of this piece of garbage. But guess what, it works like a freaking charm. Don't buy this KENU one. This is literally the only product review I've ever written. I felt I needed to take the time because this product sucks so bad. My goodness. Your design is the Rebecca Black of the mount world.

Best air vent phone mount on Amazon
by D. Roeser (5 out of 5 stars)
March 25, 2019

Beside using phone holders my own cars, I rent cars for business travel and see lots of different styles of air vents. Most phone holders are bulky, awkwardly designed and don't fit a lot of car's A/C vents.

The Kenu Airframe is simply and elegantly designed with just a really good spring and two padded gripping claws to hold the phone. The rubber vent grip has two widths and rotates, and holds the phone securely with little fuss.

When I got an iPhone XsMax, my old Kenu mount wasn't wide enough. I searched Amazon but couldn't find a Kenu so I bought another brand that was clumsily designed and inferior quality. I found it didn't fit several rental cars for clearance reasons and kept falling off the dash. I searched again and found the one that I'm reviewing. I realize I now own three Kenu's for wide cellphones. Yeah, it's more money than some others, but it's quality, and it's got the smallest footprint of any I've found. It disappears on the dash. Easy to take the phone in and out too.
