Does what it's supposed to

Ordered this for my brother, a guitar enthusiast who travels a lot, so thought it was a cool gift idea so he could still play without lugging his guitar around. He loved it. My only gripe is in the display picture on amazon, it shows a long black plastic body, and the string area (I don't play not sure if there's a more technical term) with a wood-like finish on that part. Upon delivery the packaging was small, I found out it comes "closed" the black piece in the picture slides so you open it to expose the string portion- which is fine, but the one I got didn't have the wood-like finish under the strings, the entire gadget was all black. It obviously doesn't effect the way it works, but esthetically, it would've looked nicer (and not as cheap) if it looked like the one in the display picture amazon shows.

Gift

I got this for my dad who is teaching himself to play guitar. He liked it and thought it was useful for getting a beginners fingers calloused and for practicing cords. He thought it would be better if he could actually strum though, and hear what was being played.

Poorly Constructed

Poorly constructed and useless for practicing because you can't make the tension realistic on the strings without bowing it to the point where the cover won't go back on.

Great way to practice chord placements
by D. K. Johnson (4 out of 5 stars)

I got this to practice getting my fingers in the right locations for chords. I used it on an airplane where I couldn't really practice on my travel guitar. I keep it by my bed, and try to put my fingers on the chords without looking. I don't know if I could do much more with it, since you can't really strum, I prefer an actual guitar for anything further.

Somewhat shorter than needed

I like it but think I would need more space on the right side of my hand when pressing strings. I guess adding one more fret would help. And also the tool is very light and short, should there be a chance to add f.e. some extension that you would feel like that you are holding long something like guitar neck would help, I believe. It would not have to be heavy, expensive or difficult to make - just drill a holl on the end and make possible to fix there something like telescopic pipe. You want it - you use it, you don't like - you don't use it.

But generally, this is a nice product.

This four fret version is a good product and well made

This four fret version is a good product and well made. I would recommend getting the six fret version of this practice tool.. It gives you more frets to work with during your practice session.

Great!

Great for practice if you're a rhythm player. Obvs not a good choice for moving lead lines. It's a good size that I can carry in my purse or store in my desk drawer.

great little toy. i wish it had a built-in spot for the tuning hex wrench, and maybe some spare strings. very portable. i probably would give the 6-fret version five stars.

Great for beginners.

Great to take to the office to practice your fingering. I gave it a four because sadly it's difficult to hold on to when you're trying to finger more advanced chords.
