Still the same fun game but holy crappy milennial version. I'm all for increasing be diversity but Colonel Mustard not only doesn't have a monocle - HE'S WEARING RIPPED JEANS AND A HOODIE?!? Wtf?

Fun for the whole family

The perfect gift for my stepson! He just recently decided he liked board games, so I've been trying to find ones that would challenge him but also keep him entertained (and since he is 16, it is not as easy as you think!). Clue provides the perfect place for friendly competition, deductive reasoning, and a fun Saturday night!

Plus, this Clue isn't like the one of my youth! In addition to the traditional side where Mr. Green did it in the Living Room with the Rope (Where the rooms have also bee updated for a more modern feel), you can flip the board over for the beach addition and get a whole new experience! Try Mrs. Scarlet in the Surf Shop with the Candlestick! This game has provided us with hours of entertainment...and a step son who has asked repeatedly if we could play it again!

Thank you Clue for helping me bridge the gap with my stepson!

"The Classic Mystery Game" - totally nerfed. :(
by J&J Z (2 out of 5 stars)

So sad :(
"The Classic Mystery Game" - totally nerfed. They changed a few things from the OG, including character names and rooms. They also reduced the number of spaces by making them larger, which now means you can get from any room of the house, to another with only one/two rolls. This makes the game go by way faster, and is quite frankly, way less fun. New names are LAME too - I miss Col Mustard :(

Also is now reversible, and has a different murder location on the back of the board. This game has different buildings and also different rules then the standard play - also has a few bonus items around the board that make it more enjoyable. I would rather play the "Boardwalk" side then the regular every single time. Im gonna go find me a used Clue

Great game, still a classic.

This might not be the Clue game I grew up with, but I can appreciate and understand the updated version that they've created. I know in other posts I've seen people complain that the cardboard is "cheap", but I cannot agree. Granted, it's not the best cardboard in the world, but it's sturdy enough and makes for easy folding which is nice. My daughters are 7 and 8 and I think it's this going to be a blast to play with them!

Decent but far from CLASSIC CLUE
by B. Gundersen (3 out of 5 stars)

It's not bad but very different from Classic Clue. I bought this thinking it was a cheap version of the classic for my nephew as a gift. The board is stupid and eliminates majority of the originals spaces to move and the pieces start in the center in no special place. The tiles are varying between rectangles and squares and the instructions don't tell you if each counts as one space or not (very annoying). There is a mandatory rule to play with X amount of cards face up and have less cards dealt per player (the X depends on the player number). This makes games stupidly short. Other than that the rules are the same but that is enough difference to annoy someone who adores classic Clue.

Modern locations added, real people on cards, very nice artwork and bonus 2nd side of board (I've yet to try) but am at least hopeful it will be unique enough to save this purchase.

TLDR: If you want Classic BUY CLASSIC. It's worth the slightly larger price than this. This is good for kids since it's a dumb downed version and much shorter per game.

MISSING VINTAGE DETAILS/ but cool dual sided board
by B. Crickets (4 out of 5 stars)

For the price this was great. I new this would be an updated version but I assumed that col mustard would still be a guy looking like a colonel, (and same with all the other characters) but col mustard is now just "Mustard" and he is a 20's something guy with a yellow hoodie! haha I was a little disapointed because I wanted to introduce a game I grew up with to my kids but this one was so different.

I DID like... that the board has TWO sides!! the mansion side (also disappointed bc the rooms were not the same as the original version) but you can flip it and also play the boardwalk side! really fun feature!!

Overall I missed some basic vintage elements even though I knew it was updated. (one last example- the revolver is now the pistol) same difference for newbies but I feel like part of playing clue is saying "revolver"! even if the picture is updated.) BUT.... for the price it was a good purchase and still fun to play.

Millenial Version not at all Classic
by Thoughtful Shopper (1 out of 5 stars)

It's not nostalgia. I was willing to try a new version, but this one has poor illustrations. The characters have similar first names only and are photographs of people in their 20s. The game board is smaller and the rooms are different ...all made to fit in a smaller board game. I need to purchase the classic non-millenial game.

2 games in one - classic clue and a new version - both for a nice price
by The Helpful Dad (5 out of 5 stars)
August 15, 2016

Another great value in games - this Clue set not only includes the classic game, but also on the reverse of the board you can play the game in a different setting (the boardwalk outside instead of the mansion). To be clear, you can play the classic game that you remember. But you can also play the new game with some modified rules as well. Both are fun.

You'll have all that you need to play, including all the pieces and characters you remember (but with different 'updated' pictures on the cards).

It's loads of fun and I'm very happy with this purchase

Bottom line: this version won't be good for purists who only want the original, but we are enjoying it

Classic crime scene on one side of the board, New beach boardwalk crime scene on the other.
by Shutter (4 out of 5 stars)

Got this to add to the family fun nights choices. Was interested in seeing the back side and its variation on the classic game. Very fun, has 3 secret cards you can get by landing on a specially marked "?" spot on the board that give you an advantage during game play. One card allows you to try to solve the crime twice per turn for the remainder of the game, another allows you to ask any player to see 2 of their cards and the 3rd lets you see one card from each player. Fun little twist on a classic game. This board is reversible, one side has the classic game, the other has the new crime scene which is at a beach boardwalk.

There are only 2 minor things i didn't like. 1st, you don't get figurines for each person, instead you get colored tokens very similar to those found in the game "Sorry" that represent the different characters. 2nd, the characters themselves are photos and have had their titles removed. So Colonel Mustard is now just Mustard and is just a pic of a more modern looking guy. Not a huge deal.

My husband and I really liked the original CLUE when we were younger
by Nicole C. (4 out of 5 stars)
January 27, 2016

My husband and I really liked the original CLUE when we were younger. So now that our kids are older, we wanted to find them one. We played it all together as a family and I was surprised to find the board different then I remember. The rules have changed too. The spacings on the board are WAY big, so you can pretty much get to any room you want on a turn. This takes a bit of the fun out of it. So we took a black permanent marker and simply divided each square in half. Worked great, and now the game is much more fun as it's a bit more challenging! Just like the original.
We do like that the board now has 2 sides and 2 game cards. Add's a bit of variety to it. Same basics as the original, good price. All in all, we do like this game and the price but would recommend the modifications for children over 8 to make it more fun!
