Great Option for Knives!

We LOVE this thing! We don't have a matching knife set, all our knives are different sizes, manufacturers etc, so we had this huge weird knife block thing initially and it looked hideous on our counter. After seeing this a few times, I bit the bullet and bought it and I am SO glad I did! We had no problems installing it and so far have had no breaks or defects. This is one of my favorite "grown up" purchases!

A great idea but poory finished

When I saw this I thought it was genius. I was a bit disappointed, however, when the item arrived. While my example was missing a screw leaving the bracket unsecured, the real failure was the lack of fit and finish on the product. Plywood construction is used throughout and the unfinished edges are exposed on all sides. It would definitely need more work before you'd want to install it in your home. I returned mine and ended up building my own (the unique hinges can be bought online). Installation is a little tricky under a cabinet, but well worth the unique presentation and counter space saved. A great idea, but poorly executed considering the price of entry.

I really love this product so much! The only issue I had was that the shelf showed up without the hardware so I had to contact someone to send that out, which they did promptly and without any issues free of charge. It was a little challenging to install and must be exact or it will not operate properly. Be sure you open and close in the place you want it to be sure it fits before mounting. 4 hands def would have sped up the installation process....

My husband bought this for me as a gift. He got the small size as it is the one that fits under my cabinet. When I first opened the box I was underwhelmed, it just didn't seem to be much. It was packaged well, wrapped with bubblewrap to prevent any damage and packed in a sturdy box. Once I got it out of the box, I was worried that it would be too complicated to put up. Boy was I wrong! 4 screws (included) is all it took and I installed it myself! I LOVE IT! Underneath my cabinets are not very deep so It is not completely hidden but I think it looks great and now my knives are up out of the way. I love it so much that I have already bought another one as a gift for a family member! This is a very sturdy product and works exactly as advertised and it's easy to install!

They were wonderful units until a couple months ago

I've had this product for a year and a half. They were wonderful units until a couple months ago. They started sagging a little bit and now they are almost completely open. They won't stay up and that's annoying for a product that I spent over $100 on. I've contacted the seller and am waiting to see if they have a suitable fix for the problem. I will update this review after I hear back from them.

Update: The seller sent me magnets that attach to the block and it worked like a charm!

Magnets did not hold our Heavier knifes very well

I was really happy with the look and build quality of the drop block, however was disappointed in strength of the magnets. We have pretty large heavier knives and the magnets just didn't hold them well enough to our liking, see video for demonstration. we ended up returning product but will keep my eye out for a better magnet design.

This was the perfect solution for clearing one more thing off my kitchen counters. Instead of a large knife block, I have a perfectly hidden magnetic knife storage. The magnet is very strong, so there's no fear of knives falling as you open the unit. But the knives are very easy to remove with a slight turn of the wrist. Installation was SLIGHTLY more difficult than the 5 minutes I thought it would take because I had to disassemble the whole unit to drill it into our cabinet. But, really, it only took 15 minutes. Everyone loves it!

Best Kitchen Improvement Ever!

I have had my Drop Block for two weeks and just LOVE it! I can now keep my knives well organized and hidden away when I'm not using them. I typically pull the shelf down when cooking so I can easily get what I need. Friends with young children have seen my Drop Block and like the idea of keeping the knives hidden from view when not using them. I purchased the block in a natural color which happens to match my cabinet color. Great idea!

Questionable Craftsmanship

I recently received the Under Cabinet Knife Block by the DropBlock and to say the least was a little disappointed in the craftsmanship of the product. Upon unpackaging the item, I noticed that the left hinge was not attached to the block (see pictures). I simply thought that had perhaps not been screwed in enough or perhaps not at all, however, upon further inspection I noticed that the screws were over tightened during manufacturing and the holes were stripped, allowing the screws to slide out. Given that this item (small cabinet) retails for $115, I was not expecting to encounter something like this.

Aside from the above, the magnets appear to be very strong and do a great job holding my knives with no issues. Installation was fairly easy and I was able to do it myself within 15 minutes.

A good space saver.

Not bad. Saves a ton of space and has that cool-factor where you'll want to show everyone that comes over, and they will all be in awe.

One issue is the mounting: If you mount the arm bases too close to the block, then there will be a collision if you push the block even slightly to either side. So be sure to leave a few millimeters on either side.

I found the drawer required slightly too much force to open. This could be a plus to someone with kids perhaps. To lessen this force, I put thin rubber pads on the brackets (under the cabinet) where the holding magnets touch. This both lessened the hold, and made closing quieter.
*3 Star deduction*: All magnets have fallen out after just 10 months of use! The glue is failing. It is kind of annoying to glue them back in, as they are so strong that putting them back in the hole is difficult (they are all pulling on each other).
*2 STAR ADDITION*: Called the company and they sent replacement parts.
