Fun, but not too functional

While this a fun concept and design, the build quality is not great. It is too flimsy to cut anything other than the softest of cakes. I couldn't use it to cut a tart, and it struggled in brownies. Cuts sponge cakes well, though. All in all, I wish that I had gone for function over form, and bought something else.

Not worth the $. It literally is a plastic toy knife. Such a disappointment. However, my 4 year old thought it was super cool and loved that his birthday cake was being cut ninja style.

It doesn't stop it from cutting a cake, but the edge is not as sharp as I would like and because it's plastic you can't really sharpen it. It still works though, and it looks really cool so I still like it a lot.

Not an ideal cake cutter

This was actually a disappointing item. I knew it would be plastic but the knife part is a big thick to be a good cake cutter. I thought it would be fun to use when our karate students get their black belts and we have cake to celebrate. I don't think we will ever use it because the blade part is so thick that it is not suited for cake cutting.

its a cute idea but when I got it, it kind of reminded me of a child's toy since its plastic. Even though its not the greatest cake knife, I still like it and if you are into samurai things then its cool to have. For the price its not a bad cake knife

I took this unit to Walton's Saw and Sword Shop in San Rafael, CA , where after 25 years education in Japan on the art of Samarai sword making and sharpening, Mr. Walton now teaches a class of 25 to 30 students that art and donated the Cake Samurai as he will probably sell a few hundred of these units if he puts his mind to it.I , personally will surely reorder one for myself.

Fun cake cutter! But doesn't work well with fondant.

It's a fun cake cutter. I bought it as a gift for my husband, very cute gift.

While this is a very cool cutter and seems like it would be good enough to cut a nice soft cake, it does not work well with fondant, which is of course what I used for my husband's cake. The fondant was pretty soft but the knife could not pierce it. Once it got passed the fondant layer it cut the cake just fine, so had to use a regular knife for this occasion. So just keep that in mind. It would be better if it were just a little bit sharper to help poke through tougher cakes (I have the Saw cake cutter as well and that one works a little better because it was serrated).
