Awesome detail on this fun replica
by Will (5 out of 5 stars)

Fun and fairly simple lego set. It was just a little tricky, at times, to tell what color of otherwise identical pieces to use but you can look at the box for help. The finished product is pretty small (you can scale it off of the LEGO people) but looks great - I keep it on my desk as a fun piece of decor. It comes with a sort of stand to display the 4 people (proton packs and all) but, if you want to put the people in the car, there isn't really room for the proton packs (I put one inside the car and attached the other 2 to the outside of the car b/c that's the only way I could fit them) and one of the 4 people will have to ride on the outside of the car (holding on to the ladder). The set took me (an adult) just over an hour to build.

Hubby very happy with this gift from the ORIGINAL movie
by NYorker (5 out of 5 stars)

Purchased as a Christmas gift for my hubby because he really wanted a Lego Ghostbusters set from the original movie. Was a good price considering how pricey Legos are in general. Its a really sweet set, and the details are on the characters are very nice. He even saved the box, too. He said the box is good quality for storing/moving and that you can tell the box is meant to be kept. At first we couldn't keep this Ecto-1 away from our 4 year old-LOL, and so we eventually caved in and recently got her a Ghostbusters house/car set from another toymaker (not sure if I can mention that toymaker here) that was a good price and works well for her that is sturdy and meant for playing so daddy can have his Lego Ghostbusters Ecto-1 back. He now has his Ecto-1 displayed in his "game room" and he loves it.

Awesome Set!

Honestly, in my opinion, the LEGO Cuuso/ideas stuff has been rather hit or miss. This installment was a solid hit. I honestly didn't think it would ever happen, being a licensed property outside of the LEGO group's contracts. When it did, however, I had to jump on it. I missed the Delorean and have been kicking myself ever since (because I refuse to pay scalper prices).

The extremely intricate and detailed set, quality box, and high end instruction booklet make for a fun build and great display piece.

A note to parents: While it is LEGO, and your kid can still play with it, for the price (at this point anyway) and quality of the set this isn't exactly a cost effective LEGO toy. So if you're kid doesn't have a deep love of Ghostbusters already, then there are plenty of ways to get more bang for your buck.

Who you gonna call?

Incredibly fun to put together, great detail in parts, and an instant crowd pleaser in my office. This kit felt far more like the kits I was used to building when a younger kid, individual generic Lego bricks assembled into something unique instead of the newer kits that use far more custom parts that can't be used for anything else. Hard to go wrong when even the little back packs are made of 12 individual pieces instead of one solid mold.

Nearly Perfect! (NO SLIMER?)
by Damon M. Marvin (4 out of 5 stars)

Lego is a company who knows what they are doing, and they are doing it their way. A lot of folks seem to think Lego is too expensive for what it is. When you really begin to break down what has gone into each and every set they release, you may change your view. This Ghostbusters ECTO-1 is another masterpiece. I want to give a full review, but I also want it to be short enough to be read quickly...So getting to it.

The price is a little higher than I would like. In my opinion it should touch the 39.99 price range, instead it's right around $50. It holds true to the Lego quality that you've come to know, but I can only give it 4 stars for the following reasons...
1. No Slimer. You have created a beautiful set with no intention of moving forward with other sets in a series, but you neglect to give us a Slimer Minifigure. Shame!
2. The doors do not open.
3. The price. It should be 39.99, not 49.99.

The things that made me want to give 5 stars were there, but they were not enough to overrule what was missing. So a few of the perks.
1. Amazing minifigure detail. Each character is recognizable and has their own initials on their uniform. The proton-packs are also a work of art.
2. The likeness is uncanny to the original artwork.
3. The Ghostbusters logos and ECTO-1 license plate pieces ARE PRINTED! NOT STICKERS! WAY TO GO, LEGO!
4. It's a fun and sensible build for a cherished childhood film.

Hope this helps...

One of my all-time favorites!
by Derek (4 out of 5 stars)

This was great fun to assemble and many of my co-workers comment on it. I work with a bunch of nerds, so that is a huge compliment to the product. It sits near by window at work, with a few of my favorite Lego sets.

On to the build:

Lego instructions are always easy to follow, but I found the Ecto-1 to be particularly fun to build because as I was building, I could easily see how each piece was fitting together. I doubt that was on the minds of the Lego engineers when creating the instructions, but dang, they did a great job.

The overall look, feel, and most importantly, accuracy of this Ecto-1 are fantastic!

The only drawbacks really come down to personal preference. First, I hate stickers on my Legos. Hate. With the heated fires of Mordor, I hate the stickers. Lego made a horrible decision when they opted to print stickers, rather than print authentic pieces which will last for generations. With that said, these were easy enough to apply; though I did have to remove one and put it back on, after noticing it was slightly crooked (yes, that is a user error, but a common one with the stickers).

The only other criticism I have of the Etco-1 is that the doors don't open. For a truly complete experience, the doors should open with seats for the characters.

All that aside, I absolutely love this Lego set!

Sweet little Movie kit!
by S. Lee (5 out of 5 stars)

For fans of the original Ghostbusters, this kit goes without saying has it's roots in the movie and cartoons of the 80's. I love themed sets and this one is the perfect size for a 2 hour assembly. The components are spot on, the build is true to the iconic vehicle. Perhaps one of my favorite things is that the Ghostbusters themselves have a "stand" they can rest on...perfect for your display case. Honestly, I think if it had a Lego Slimer in there, this would be an "11." This one has made me want some of the other movie-only kits as well.

Great kit for collectors, LEGOs or Ghostbusters.

I have seen bricks that'll turn you white

I've been a tremendous Ghostbusters nut since the first movie was released. I've also liked Lego just as long if not longer. As a kid, I made my own half-assed attempts at combining the two, but never once dreamed there would one day be an official set. Thanks to the success of Lego Star Wars, and the fantastic Lego Ideas program, sets such as this can be produced.

The set is excellent. The build is interesting, never boring. The way the car's roof and windows come together is clever, and allows the minifigs to go for a ride. I'm very glad that the Ghostbusters symbols are printed on, not stickers. Proportions of the completed car are spot on.

The Ghostbusters minifigs are very well done but a bit lacking in detail. My only big annoyance is that the symbol on their shoulder is missing, and some leg printing or black boots would have been nice. The shade of khaki is also a touch too light for my taste. Each head is printed on both sides, one stern face and one horrified face. Winston has his 'stache.

The gear is also a bit weak. The trap is the only element of the set which outright stinks, there is no PKE meter, and the packs could be a little better. Granted, new molds would really be needed to do these things justice. I do like the overall simplicity of the figures and their gear, they seem to look as they would have had this set been released in 1984 or 1985, skin tones aside.

I am absolutely thrilled to have this set. Hoping for some followup sets, maybe the basement with Containment Unit or the Temple of Gozer. Bring on the firehouse!

The Return To Lego
by Christopher Coelho (5 out of 5 stars)
September 14, 2015

All I can say is "Who you gonna call!?" Lego!

As a wee lad, I played with Lego's almost daily, and had years of building fun.

I also should say that my brother and I, had "Proton Packs", "Traps" and ton of imagination as kids.

Somewhere along the line, probably my teenage years, I had lost my way.

I was lost in a sea of puberty, athletics, girls and academics and had all but forgotten the joy of the Lego/Ghostbusters.

I couldn't have imagined a return; however, children have had a strange effect on my life.

Things that I had completely stopped enjoying before are becoming far more exciting again.

My son will be 6 years old in a month, and after watching the Lego movie loves them.

So, I decided to introduce him properly by sharing two of my life's joys (Lego and Ghostbusters).

No regrets.

The set is very well made, and accurately portrays the Ecto-1.

Each figure has a "Proton Pack" that look great.

The instructions are easy to follow (maybe not for some).

My only complaint is that the "Ghost Trap" seems a bit lazy in terms of design.

Highly recommended!
