The BISON Airlighter 520 is a cordless fire lighter that will light any type of charcoal, wood, or wood pellets in 60 S. It uses a patented torch flame & blower technology to ignite wood or coals quickly & then it spreads the heat to the rest of the fire with the built-in blower. It is powered using a USB rechargeable battery & Butane fuel. For best performance, we recommend using Bison's Airlighter fuel, which is chef-grade, meaning it burns very clean & can be used directly on food to sear meats, caramelize sugars, etc. Lighting charcoal grills: to use the Airlighter simply aim the flame at the coals from a distance of about 3". After you have about 2" Of glow (10-20 S) switch to blower mode. The blower will then spread the fire quickly. Lighting fireplaces or Wood-stoves: we suggest to begin by warming the flu first by aiming the flame up the chimney for 20 S to start the draw of air. Then, simply aim the flame directly to your wood until it is lit. Switch to blower mode to spread the fire quickly. Boost your fire: if you are grilling or lighting a wood Fire, you can boost the flames & increase the heat by simply using the blower. No need for lighter fluid or starters: the Airlighter is strong enough to light your fire quickly without needing any chemical assistance. Your food will taste better & its much safer alternative to lighter fluid.

I was excited and wanted this product to work but alas, another let down. First one was returned since the flame would sputter and extinguish despite having a full tank. I reordered a second one and it won't light. Clearly a great idea crippled by poor quality. I would not recommend. I figured the first one was a one off but a second one......no way.

I was contacted by the manufacturer and was asked if I would give the Airlighter another shot. As I said in my review, I really like the idea so I decided it couldn't hurt.

I received the new unit, filled it with butane and hooked it up to a charger. Once charged, the unit lit on the second attempt.

Prior to the Airlighter, I used a Bernzomatic TS8000 torch head and a canister of MAP. I'd light several areas of the bed of lump and wait for it to all ignite.

The Airlighter flame is nowhere near as powerful as the above torch head; that's obvious however it doesn't need to be. This isn't explained very well in the literature, or if it is I never read it, but the real strength of the Airlighter is not the flame but the FAN!

I used to try and light as many coals as I could with the torch head and continued the practice with the Airlighter. WRONG WRONG WRONG!! You only really need to get a few edges of the lump glowing, then switch to the fan and let the magic begin. I'm telling you, once the lump lights it goes really fast. The more coals that are lit the faster it goes with the fan.

I've modified my rating from a one star to a four star. I would give it a five star but I haven't used it for an extended period.

The manufacturer read my original review, followed up and made efforts to satisfy a customer which is a rarity in today's business world. They definitely get an A+ from me and I'd recommend the product to others.

Would Not Buy Again-UPDATED REVIEW

I purchased the Airlighter 520 after my current one failed. New one does not have as strong of a flame and the fan is not as strong as previous one. Contacted support and they said to try for a few times and they would replace is not satisfied. Well it did not perform but they will not respond. I have tried no fewer than 5 times with no response. WEAK PRODUCT AND EVEN WEAKER CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

The company did finally respond and sent new unit. It works as expected. Thank you

I originally liked this lighter a lot, but it doesn't hold up. The flame is hard to keep lit, and the switches have become almost impossible to use...if I light it and set the lock to keep it lit, it takes every bit of strength I have to try and push the main switch up hard enough to disengage the lock when it blows itself out. IF it stays lit long enough to light a coal enough for the fan to work, it's great. I am going back to my Harbor Freight heat gun, which is still the best lighter around.

This is a terrific product that I use daily in the winter for my fireplace. The blower is powerful and lasts a long time on a charge. It's charged by way of a USB cable that I plug into my computer.

The torch is fueled by butane and is like a blowtorch! I don't always use that feature but it's handy for getting the fire started.

The folks at Infora couldn't be nicer. Apparently there were some QC issues with early versions (hence some negative reviews). Mine seemed to leak and had a rattle in it. They replaced it immediately, no questions asked, and apologized for the inconvenience. Now THAT's customer service!

Don't buy this product

I would not recommend this product. It did not produce the fire as stated. It used too much butane and it spills out as well. Charging was fine and the unit feels cheap. I should of believed the reviews. Just buy the JJ blue torch because you will not disappointed. Again, do not buy, too expensive as well.

The button for the lighter wouldn't move enough to light easily. the button for the blower motor was the same. you would have to use two hands to move the button forward enough to get the blower to activate. I bought this item for my dad who loves tech. he asked me to return it after the first use. It was Past Return Dat for me to get it in. waste of money. do not buy. all electronic items should have a 90 day buy back gaurentee

I ordered my Bison lighter with additional fuel cells shortly after I bought my BGE. It worked great the first 5 or 6 times I used it. Then the issues started, for starters, the gas would leak out requiring constant refills, when pushing the button to light, the spark was not strong enough to create a flame. Over the next couple of months it became more difficult to light and stay lit. The last time I used it, I had just got my charcoal started and switch over to use the fan on the Bison lighter and it made this horrible sound and the fan stopped working. You can hear the fan rattling around inside the lighter. I have emailed Bison lighter from their website 3 times with no response. I GIVE UP!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT, IT'S JUNK AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NONEXISTENT.

Feels flimsy

Overall Imhavent been impressed with the build quality of the product. The continuous mode never seems to work. The flame never stays lit for more than a few seconds, causing me to need to restart or just use the manual trigger. It often takes several tries for the flame to light, and stay lit. There's no indication of battery strength or butane level. I do love the concept, but it doesn't feel like a product that will last for years of grilling.

Hail the Airlighter - Most Cherished New Item in the House

This is without question the best item that I have ought for MYSELF in years!!!

It completely exceeded all of my expectations. I purchased it to reduce the amount of paper that I use to start my fires in my insert fireplace. In the past I used paper and starter sticks to get the fireplace going. Now with the airlighter, I only need a piece of crumbled newspaper underneath my wood stack and in 20 seconds have a safely started fireplace. The blower fan is highly effective at feeding air to the exact spot, making the process quick and easy.

I've come to love this item so much that I now use it to start my gas grill. Because of the 4" flame, I dont have to reach under the grill, getting my hands dirty and it starts right up. Every time I use it, friends immediately ask about this and several have purchased them who also love it.

My daughter who loves to cook uses it to glaze creme brulee.

My 2 favorite features are the bottle opener (Brilliant at the cookout) and the adjustable handle. I like the bent, pistal grip position.

All I can say is get one. It makes the fireplace & grilling so much more fun.

One of the coolest gifts I have received - and then given. I liked mine so much, I gave them as gifts this year at work.

You could keep one of these next to the fireplace, the outdoor firepit, in a van or truck, with your camping gear. Like having a hand-held pear burner on a big propane tank - but much more manageable.
