I was anxious to get this ever since I heard it was coming out and purchased the day it became available. It seems to work exactly as described with my testing so far. I did have a problem with the date/time set function and contacting the company (Gibson) was no help. If you get this, even though there is nothing in the instructions) remove the little battery and the tab that prevents it from draining. You can not see this tab when you look at the battery compartment.

The cable is quite thick and the unit itself is a bit akward to use but maybe that it just getting used to. Because of the weight, it drops out of my Fender Resonator but hasn't on other guitars. I can loop it through the strap to correct this but then the control part in in an akward place but I think I can get used to this also.

If I had to complain about something, it would have to be the little Micro SD card. It's a pain in the ass! They supply an adapter and it works fine... it's just a pain. I would think improvements will be made here regarding a USB instead.

So, it is what it is and works fine but could use a bit of tweaking.

Overpriced

Mine works as advertised but I had to read some online reviews to solve the date/time problem. Just as ds"bikegawd" said you have to remove the tab from the watch battery. Also remember to remove the # from the line of code addressing the date and time.

Sound quality is good, but overall the control unit feels like something out of a blister pack at Walmart. It would be better if the control unit was a bit farther down the cable and if the ends could swivel. I don't have a problem with the microSD card. It's the right tool for the job.

I like but it is hard to use when connected to guitar because cable is heavy (hard to twist to get at buttons).It would be great if you could playback recordings without having to insert micro card into my computer. I like but could be better.

The cable worked fine for a couple of months but totally stoped working for no reason at all.

We changed the battery, wipe the memory card but nothing. Waiting on Gibson for a replacement.

Great idea but from a lot of user comments, it seems that the product has many issues.

Gibson probably went to market with this product to fast without properly testing it.

I suggest that if you want to purchase this product you wait for a 2.0 version were Gibson will have fixed the bugs.

A brilliant idea. The one time it worked, it was great. However, I have had three defective cables and am currently waiting for my local Gibson dealer to get a replacement in so I can try again. Cable 1 was defective out of the box, all the recording were ruined by static and shorting. Cable 2 worked fine twice and then went bad, all subsequent recordings were all static and shorts. Cable 3 was so defective that when I first turned it on the recorder started recording without being plugged into anything. It was recording nothing but static and shorts. None of these sounds could be heard through the amp when playing, It was only on playback that you could hear all the noise.

I assume that I've just had a run of bad luck and gotten 3 cables from a bad batch of them.

Here's hoping number 4 will work once it arrives.
