I live in San Antonio, TX and it gets plenty hot here. I rode in a buddy's Ford F-150 with cooled seats and instantly knew I needed to figure out how to get them in my Silverado. I found the Viotek seat here on Amazon, watched the YouTube videos and took the plunge. Here is what I have figured out about these cushions vs the Ford Factory seats. This cushion PULLS air through the cushion and out the motor housing under the seat vs pushing the air out the holes. So if you drive a convertible, you will be pulling ambient air around your body which will probably not work to cool you since it uses the cold A/C from your car to cool you down.

The bottom cushion under your rear will get coldest at your crotch (no kidding). The most perforated surface area that is open for the fan to suck air is between your legs since your legs cover the rest of the bottom cushion. The air gets pulled from between your legs, then under your rear, out the back of the seat, then through the motor under the seat. It works brilliantly and cools very well. The back cushion works the same way. But there is one big difference, I don't have a gap in my back to allow air through!

I'm not a large man, but my back and broad shoulders completely cover the air holes in the seat back. I was disappointed that the back was not cooling down unless I leaned forward (to allow some air to circulate behind me) then leaned back. If you do that you could hear the air being sucked into the cushion. So I determined a plausible solution and modified the seat cushion...

I carefully removed the top fabric binding that holds the front and back of the cushion together with a seam ripper from my sewing kit. There is nothing but foam for the top 6" or so across the top of that back cushion (behind the VIOTEK branded part). There is a sealed seam at the top of the perforated part between the front and back of the cushion. I took an exacto knife and opened the seam exposing the heat element layer and hard plastic channels behind it that allow the air to be drawn through. I took a piece of corrugated plastic sign (sold at the big box hardware stores for yard sale signs and such) and cut a piece that was wide enough to fill the top 6" gap, and tall enough to slide about 1/2" into the hard plastic channels behind the perforated section and stick about 1/2" out the top of the cushion. This allows the full suction power of the fan to pull air through the corrugated sign material and then the channels in the back cushion. INSTANT improvement! Now my back and bottom are cold as I drive.

If Viotek wants to contact me, I'd be happy to share my ideas for modifying the cushions to be a perfect product.

If Viotech had extended the perforated area all the way up the back of the cushion so my shoulders were below the perforated holes this modification would be unnecessary. But since I cover all of the holes with my back, this is the only way to allow air through the back cushion. The modification works like a champ and cost me $9 for the sign material at Lowes. I have to figure out a way to make the top look "finished" but it is 100% functional which was my first concern.

Overall the build quality is fantastic. The cushion goes on snugly and WILL NOT MOVE when you get in and out of the car. That is a huge bonus over other cushions I have tried that you have to adjust over and over again. It works, it's simple, it's effective. If you want to ask for more detailed instructions on my "modification" leave a reply I'd be happy to share. It takes about 15 minutes to do carefully but makes a world of difference!

The best Solution for Summer days [Details explained]

I live in Kuwait where Temp reaches 55C° easy (under shade) .. My car is 2015 SUBARU WRX STi .. the Viotek TruComfort is a super solution for the problem of the hot weather plus the Alcantara seats in summer!.. I tried my best to avoid my back sweating problem. Nothing helped except Viotek TruComfort cooled seat. The Quality is 9/10 (relatively to me as an owner of BMW 2014 M6 and PORSCHE turbo previously) performance is 10/10 (did not expected this great cooling and heating), user friendliness 10/10 , Electric supply is just Plug&Play system; one wire goes to 12V socket. Awesome in a way that I wonder why not having this solution as an OEM accessory.

The control unit has 5 levels of Cooling and 5 levels of Heating, this is a great scale of the performance, much better than having On/Off only. The cooling performance is better than my 2014 BMW M6 Ventilated/heated seats. The system works excellent even if the car is parked under extreme hot weather. It performs well withing just a few seconds even if the seat is "Grilled under the sun".

The leather feels and looks so good. I can feel the effort of trying to reach the perfection. Attention in to tiny details. Bravo Viotek.

I bought this for my 2010 Prius. I drive 150-200 mi a day in the hills of WV, so we get some very very cold days and some warm ones as well. This fit in the seat well, took a few minutes to install and is working perfectly.

The heat feature is very nice, I usually start with it on the 3 setting, but have to turn it down to 2 within 10-15 minutes since it is getting too hot. I'm 6' and the heating area seems to be fine for me.

The cooling feature seems to be working very well. I don't really 'feel' air getting pulling through the seat cushion, BUT the cushion does get very cool to the touch, which is perfect. It does make a little sound, specially on settings 4-5, which I think I hear more because I drive a Prius and the engine is off a lot and the car is overall fairly quiet, but really if you have any music or the heat/AC on you won't really hear it.

So for 1/10th the price of getting anything installed I got a wonderful seat heater and cooler. The only complaint I have is that I wish it would remember where it was when you turn the car off. Currently it starts at setting 3 for heat or cool when you push the button regardless of where it was before. If it would automatically turn on with the car and resume where it was that would be an awesome addition.

I'm anxiously awaiting V2 as Viotech seems to addressed all the issues I have with this version: hard to install, vents take abuse every time you adjust your seat and WILL eventually break, control cord is way too short.
My biggest problem is that the fan hangs behind the seat by weak, plastic tubing vents. When you adjust the seat, these vents rub on the frame of my seat and all three broke. They also broke at different places, so I wasn't able to fix them.
Version 2 has no control cord and most importantly, the fan is attached directly to the seat, no tubes that can rub and that also eliminates the huge hassle of installing this version.

Buyer BEWARE!
I Purchased the cooling only version in Brown about three months ago. Overall, it worked OK... I could notice a difference on the highest setting.

However, I removed recently to trade in my vehicle and the black backing on the Viotek seat cushion stained my leather seat (tan seats)! Take a look at the picture, that's only part of the seat that has been discolored.

I tried several leather cleaners, household cleaners and was even desperate enough to try a magic eraser and it didn't touch it. Looks as though the leather is dyed from this product.

I first contacted Better Choice Online who is the Amazon seller and they refused to at least give me my money back for the product since it was outside the 30 day return window. Contacted Amazon and same answer.

Contacted Viotek, the manufacturer and was told they never had that problem, so sorry, no refund.

My seat never came in contact with any water other than the Florida humidity, so there is no excuse for this happening. Wanted to post this to make others aware. I haven't seen other complaints like this, but I'm wondering if it's just because people haven't removed the cushion after installing??

bought it "new" and I got a returned product with a note from a prior customer. The seat smelled of sweat due to this and it didn't install properly on my E93 BMW (2007) due to the seatbelt getting in the way and the headrest being held by one side instead of two center poles like most seats.

I even tried using it anyway and it worked a little on the top setting but when it starts at 3/5 and you need to find the button every time than there isn't much of a point...

To sum up, its better than nothing but not worth my money.

I just installed this unit. An improved Owner's Manual with more detailed installation instructions would be an improvement. For example: I have yet to figure out what the small mat with the two clips is used for [!!??]. And, a longer connection cord coming out of the cooling/heating unit would allow more options for locating it, especially when the customer has power seats In my specific case [as the owner of a Hyundai Sonata], the air ducts would not fit between the seat back and the seat cushion, so I had to improvise by placing the air ducts and the cooling/heating unit between the factory seat back and the cushion seat back; I'm not sure how comfortable that improvisation is going to be. On page 5, the diagrams of A and B don't correspond to the wording of A and B. And, on page 6, there are 2 diagrams marked A and 2 diagrams marked B. To avoid confusion, why not use C and D to describe the examples of possible placement of the temperature control unit. Thanks for the very fast delivery

I went through 3 replacements trying to get one that actually worked as advertised. First one's fan was broken. Second one barely had any airflow. Third one had more airflow but never could feel any air movement for 1/2 of the product (concentrated around the intake, at the middle of the product). Also, I could only get that much airflow if I leaned forward so that all the little air intake holes weren't covered by my back (which isn't a terribly comfortable position...).

Note the heating element worked well, but I primarily wanted it cool me off in the hot cali summer.

remote does not work

Wanted very badly for this to work. I returned the first one I got b/c the remote would not work. It would not take a charge and none of the function lights would come on. So I returned it and got another one....SAME ISSUE!!!! The remote will not work. It does not charge. I have had it on the charger for over three hours and it is still just a blinking light. I have even tried hitting the reset button....nothing! What a disappointment! Don't waste your money.

Great for vehicles without heated/cooled seats. Fairly easy to install.

Just Remember: If your vehicle has a "constant on" 12 volt accessory port, (Cigarette lighter plug in) make sure you disconnect the power to the seat cover or ensure it is fully off when you exit the vehicle or you will return to a dead battery.

I have given one as a present, and it was loved!

Bought this cushion to make those long trips in my Xtera cloth upholstery more comfortable. Installed quickly, although you may need strong hand/arm strength to get the air pipes out through the gap between the upper back cushion and the seat cushion. Probably depends upon your particular car seat construction.

Worked as designed, both heating and cooling. Have not made any long trips with it, but it is comfortable just around town.

Great look, love how it matches my interior, quality product, and install was fairly easy; however, the fit is not as finished as I would like, mainly due to the hard plastic back shell on my seat.

Main complaint is there is a cold spot right at the joint of the seat back. I bought this with the principal need for a seat warmer and for me it disappoints. I believe the cold spot is created by the three main blower tubes that give the seat the cooling feature for summer use.

I will wind up returning this item.
