Product Description

These are the motorized electric roller skates that propel a wearer at up to 12 mph. Two sets of step-in footplates secure most types of footwear with strap bindings similar to those on snowboard boots, accommodating small and large feet. Supporting riders up to 250 lbs., each skate’s twin 6”-diam. wheels has a 55-watt motor integrated into its fiber-reinforced nylon frame. Tilting forward on the toes accelerates while tilting back on the heel gently brakes. The footplates also pivot down to put your foot in contact with the ground for walking or going upstairs. Each skate has a removable lithium-ion battery that provides up to 1 ½ hours of continuous power (up to a 6-mile/45 min. range), ideal for travel across a school campus, to a local cafe, or while roaming a neighborhood festival. Batteries recharge in 1.5 hours using the included AC adapter. Model R6 Red.

I like them. they are some very well-designed cool products

Had these wheels for 5 months. Total mileage around 20. overall, I like them. they are some very well-designed cool products.

Pros:

Cool. draw all the eyeballs

Learning curve is ok. a little easier than learning riding the bike

Battery is ok. Although you cannot expect the same mileage of a Tesla

It's design oriented. Lots of products don't give a s*** about design, but this one does

Cons

Bumpy on not very well paved roads

Cannot be used as primary method of transportation

Expect to fall a few times (hopfully in very safe environment) when you started learning

Looking forward to the MK III!

not that bad to get the hang of but bored after an hour , these things suck . I have to charge all the time and not very fast .

i read all the reviews here and on there site and i have to say , i think , the same person wrote a lot of them . spelling , style ... ihmo

if your a 70lb kid i could see these being more fun just showing off . 180lb adult there's just nothing special , very quick .

i wouldn't recommend buying them and i don't think there strong enough to last very long at all . if you want to slowly go down the drive way a few times ,there ok . my kids went back to there bikes and skateboards very quickly . everyone that i let try them had the same opinion . waste of money , going to keep them around for awhile and return at the first sign of failure . which i don't think will take very long . i bet there one year warranty won't last long .

Really BAD product!!

Friend of mine got these for her son and he was badly hurt.

I read all the reviews and it sounds like the positive reviews that rave about this product are from the maker or friend/partner of the maker.

They're over priced for what physical damage it has caused to my friend's son.

Do not buy these unless you have really great insurance and you don't mind things going awry with them causing permanent injury.

Another thing is one has to hold themselves in an unusual stance the whole duration of use.

It's a ridiculous, harmful product.

When my 20 year old son told me he wanted to buy these RocketSkates I said, "surely you jest." 2 pairs of these and he could have a real wheels. I didn't think he was seriously considering them, but yup. He was. And he did. He caught a flash sale here and save a sweet hundred bucks. The skates came friday. He couldn't wait to try them on saturday. Today is sunday and he is sporting a wrist to armpit splint for a radial neck fracture. He has nerve trauma on the other hand. Tomorrow we go to the orthopedic to see if surgery is needed. He made it to 20 without a broken bone, not even a laceration that required stitching. Oh, and one of the skates broke too.

Buying these skates is a really, bad idea. First, there is a HUGE learning curve. Acton suggests it's like riding a bike. Yah, only these aren't pre-schoolers who are happy using training wheels for a couple of years. Unless you have a knack for skates/boarding/ripsticks/ etc. you will NOT get the hang of these easily. Expect frequent, unexpected, serious falls.

Second, these things hurt to wear. They are bulky, heavy, clunky. Anyone remember rumble robots? That's what they remind me of.

The idea of RocketSkates is fun! Wow! So RocketMan Cool! Reality? These things are a freakin' disability maker. Dangerous. Dangerous. Dangerous. A parent's nightmare come true. A 20 year old super cool guy about to start 3rd year of college just wasted four hundred bucks, is in significant pain, is really bummed, is losing at least 2 days of salary, is facing surgery, and may have permanent nerve damage.

Acton's words should be heeded: WARNING! RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. They say later on page 4 of their safety warning, "it is possible for the rider to lose control, fall, collide with other objects, and/or get into dangerous situations that no amount of care, instruction, or expertise, can completely eliminate. If such things occur you could be seriously injured or die..."

So that's our story. Unless you like pain, are ok with serious injury or death, don't mind paying $500 dollars and then the hospital bills and therapy after that, don't buy these stupid things.

... of these skates and I've been having so much fun with them

I just got a pair of these skates and I've been having so much fun with them. Not just as someone who likes to skate and blade but also as someone who likes to film. With enough practice you can use these to get motion shots while filming. It's pretty sick, I'm glad I got them!

Boring and can be dangerous
by Taylor (1 out of 5 stars)
April 16, 2016

Just wasn't very fun. Got bored after a couple uses. It's also awkward to learn how to use them. The ground has to be completely flat with no little rocks or pebbles or you risk series injury. Also way too expensive. The price is ridiculous.
