Too early to buy

I was very excited about these glasses. I'm an avid rider and was looking forward to have all the data the glasses provide without having to constantly look down to watch my computer. I unpacked the glasses and went to the web-site to update the firm ware, add my information and so forth. The system froze on me multiple times having to restart the glasses every time. I was able to sync my cadence, and speed sensor however my heart-rate sensor didn't sync. I decided to still give it a go while I went on a ride, I ended up having to taking off the glasses. The screen was blurry even though I adjusted the glasses to be able to wear it comfortably and see the H.U.D. While it did track the activities I had to really focus on the HUD taking my eyes of the road for a long time. I think this product has made great progress in the the wearable technology sector however its too early to buy to be able to enjoy the product fully. I would recommend to wait a bit more until they improve a bit more.

Great for short rides but anything past two hours and your battery dies

It's 2018... but wait 5 more years before taking the plunge!

Screen was difficult to align to my line of sight. Pictures and video were like first gen apple quicktake camera. Yeah Apple once upon a time made those... and it totally sucked. The Jet looked very techy but after a while, it just looked stupid. I really wanted to like this as a technical tool. But the idea was just way ahead of the hardware.

Don't bother.

This device and company are both unfit for retail service. The recon jet requires an initial update to activate (poor choice) or else it will not work. After downloading the software and setting up an account, the program went through the motions of upgrading before I got an error telling me to restart the device. I tried it again, same thing. I tried it on a different computer, same thing. I tried it on both a windows machine and a mac, same thing.

I sent an email to customer support, but got a stock "reinstall the software" answer which was of no help. I tried calling the listed phone number four separate times, but no one was available. I am now sending the product back.

The customer support is ridiculous, the hardware I received doesn't function, and requiring an update to even activate and use the product is abusive. Save your time and money, don't bother with this defective product.

Pretty much a $600 lemon

Clunky. Apps are minimal and hard to navigate. Have yet to get the Jet to link with my laptop, so I can download maps and apps. Pretty much a $600 lemon.

Nice try but not durable

I like the idea of these glasses and enjoyed using them for the first 100 miles or so (a few weeks) but then came across one minor and one major design flaw.

The first design flaw is the lens itself. Sweat seems to accumulate on the lens in patches meaning that as soon as I start cycling after waiting at a red light I end up with the collected sweat dripping into my eyes. This is much worse than normal fogging I am used to from my cheap $25 macy's sunglasses.

The second, more major, flaw is the connection between the HUD unit and the glasses which is not waterproof. I'm cycling in 95F heat so I will be sweating. This sweat got onto the contacts and eroded away the copper. Tech support helpfully suggested I clean the corrosion off the contacts with alcohol. This got it working for a few more miles but the corrosion is now back (red corrosion this time instead of the prior green corrosion) and they are now unusable even after cleaning.

To their credit: Recon have telephone support which is available 7 days per week and is staffed with friendly and knowledgeable people. Amazon were also really helpful in giving me an instant refund when I described the problem to them.

I'm now in two minds over what to do. Whether to buy a replacement and more diligently take it apart and dry the contacts after every ride, or whether to wait for other products to enter the market.

Good product for the gadget and fitness freak, like me!

First of all, I am a gadget junkie, and fitness fanatic so I was very excited to try out the Recon Jet Smart Eyewear.

Let's start with the looks. I don't have a particularly big head, so it took a while to get used to this. Yes I felt a little bit like Robocop at first. But overall the style looks pretty cool.

The heads up display worked well for me. I preferred it while biking because the glasses seemed to stay tighter on my head than when I was running. After running a mile or two, I felt like I needed to stop and readjust to make sure I could see the heads-up information clearly. The heads up display really is awesome. No more glancing down at my watch or smartphone or garmin to see the information. It was all right there whenever I needed it.

Overall I would recommend this. It is pricey, but the information provided and the "cool" factor seems worth it for me. I love my gadgets and love to show them off to others. This is definitely a conversation starter. I ended up doing a demo and showing my whole running club how it worked.
