IT DOES WORK- some TIPS and INSTRUCTIONS
by Christison (4 out of 5 stars)
March 11, 2017

I received no money/discount etc for the purchase or use of this product.

THIS REALLY DOES WORK and for $177- fully worth the money to me.

Yes there are a few things that could be better with the design, so I included some silly tricks that really help trap heat and make me sweat.

It is a little disappointing to have to do them, but face it- you are spending NO MONEY for a sauna and it DOES WORK.

Below is my experience with the unit, some TIPS that helped me, and some INSTRUCTIONS since other reviewers seemed to have some trouble. :)

MY EXPERIENCE:

I felt a little silly purchasing this, because it seemed like a gimmick but it was getting good stars. When I opened the box I had my doubts.

The product is light weight (so yes portable) and is basically a sturdy 1 man tent. It was easy to set up and use (even though the instructions are lacking). I had already read some reviews, so I let it warm up for 10 mins before I got in.

So I get in the unit, sat there about 10 mins feeling a little silly. The unit got warm, and I had some glisten sweat, but nothing was really happening. My hubby was teasing me about my purchase while I pouted about how I had been had and would return it.

Then at about 15 mins in I started to trickle sweat. And I thought, "Ok so it does something. But I dunno this is worth the money".

At 20 mins the sweat was running down my arms, and I was grinning like a fool while I got to HAHA to hubby I was right!

After that I was continuously having sweat RUN/POUR from my chest, arms, back, etc.

I stayed in 40 mins total and the foot pad, chair, neck cuff were wet. I was covered in beads of sweat all over that still ran down while I got out! When I got out and hubs saw me, he immediately wanted to take a turn-- he got the same results!

NOTE: Even though I had just used the unit, it still took about 15 mins for him to heat up enough to start to sweat but once he did he drenched the bottom - REALLY GROSS lol. But it works great!

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE PRODUCT:
-The heating panels are on the sides and back only-NONE in the front.
-There is a heating pad for your feet to help warm you up- it never gets so hot that you cant comfortably keep your feet on it.
-The chair is a little narrow for your legs and can get uncomfy; Im thinking about getting a stool. I am 5 ft 7 and hubs is 6ft.
-Your knees do tend to touch the front of the tent depending on how you sit or if you're leaning back in the chair.
-A lot of the heat can escape through the neck hole even with the cuff if you move around. I wouldn't really put my hands out the front zippers as again the heat escapes pretty fast. The front of the unit isn't as warm- but I figured out a trick to help with that (see below)

TIPS THAT HELP ME SWEAT FASTER:
-Drink at least 8 oz of water before using. I drink water after as well.
-Wear a shower cap or sauna cap to trap your body heat in. HUGE difference
-Wrap a bath towel on the outside of the unit and around your neck to cover the cuff, let it fall down over the arm zippers to hold in heat. It makes the whole unit warmer.
-Once you figure out just where you want your chair to normally sit, mark the bottom with little pieces of duct tape. It is a pain to move your chair every time to get your head under the neck opening the way you want.
-Put a bath towel on the floor to catch your sweat so you don't have to clean it out like crazy every time. I also put a smaller towel on the chair.
-I put the reflector panel (with the shiny metal side facing inwards) IN FRONT of me instead of on the floor (like the instructions say to do).

The reflector panel can fit in between wooden front brace and the wall to hold it up. It really helps trap heat in and reflect it onto the front of you.
-I sometimes wear neoprene bands just to get an extra sweat on, although this would likely block the infrared in those areas

INSTRUCTIONS:

Take the unit out of the box. Take the chair and the reflector mat out of the unit. Lay it on the floor with the back on the floor and the sides in the air. Zip the bottom up and the front up about mid way. Put your bath towel in the bottom. Place the foot warmer on top of the towel. Position your chair inside the unit. Put a smaller towel on your chair to catch sweat. Zip it all the way up and cover the top. Zip the arm holes too.

To use the controller: Push Power, Push Start, Push Heat Foot warmer. The "+" under temp goes only up to 150- I always have it at 150. The panels may get that hot? But I don't think the air actually gets that heat. The "+" under the timer only changes the minutes in 5 minute intervals.

Let the unit heat up 10 mins or so. Drink at least 8 oz of water and put on your shower cap/sauna hat and any neoprene bands etc that you want to wear.

Once the unit is heated, up the timer to 30 mins again. (Make sure Power is still on and you MUST RE-PUSH Start button for heat and foot pad).

Get your reflector mat in hand. (Have your bath towel draped around your neck if you want one to have available to put ontop of the unit to cover your neck hole). Get into the unit. On the top right there is a wooden bar, you raise it across the front and connect it into a holder on the top left. This keeps the front of the unit off of you. Put the reflector (shiny side facing in) in between the wooden rod and the outside wall. This helps trap heat in the unit and reflect the light back on you. Sit and wait.... sweat and relax!!

I really hate giving a bad review
by Carey (1 out of 5 stars)
October 3, 2016

I really hate giving a bad review but in this case I have no choice. To be honest I wasn't even looking forward to doing this I was going to just skip it altogether but I felt that if I did that someone else might go through the hassle of getting this sauna and then either just keeping it because they were too lazy to send it back or had to go through the hassle of packing it up and sending it back.
I'm really confused as to how so many people have given this a five star review. Now that having the sauna and having to send it back I'm figuring that these people have never sat in an infrared sauna before and don't know what it supposed to feel like. But I'm going to explain this so that the next person that looks at this will really understand that this is not the best choice .
I guess the saying is true that you get what you pay for. If you do any research on this type of sauna it's a new technology. You need to sit in a place that you are directly in front of that panel that that part of your body needs to be heated. And that's OK if you're in a sauna that you're surrounded with panels because then your entire body would be heated. This particular portable sauna is not surrounded with panels to heat your entire body. You have a back panel , you have a side panel that only is half of the side not the entire side so to heat your entire side of your body it misses the legs completely because each side is not entirely covered with panels. So really I only got heated from my arms down to my hips and back, but my legs were not heated at all.

This type of technology does not heat around and edit angles, it only heats what is directly placed in front of it so that being said if you plan on buying this portable sauna you will not heat your entire body. I tried sitting it backwards so that I can heat my legs it didn't work , it was extremely awkward because of the placement of the neck not to mention the real crappy chair that they send with this unit .
So if you're looking for a sauna trust me this is not the sauna to get. If you want to purchase a real quality sauna you'll have to get on Google and research the difference between a steam sauna and the new technology paneled sauna in order to really understand what you're buying. I learned a lot through Google and what not to get because mainly all of these saunas that are built look an awful lot alike . But if you take a Sauna like they did on one of these particular sites that I chose to listen to , you can see how the inside in between the walls how they're built them to be more toxins . So if you happpen to choose one that was built in China then get rinto one of them , you may find yourself doing more harm then good by breathing in or absorbing through your skin more toxins then expelling them. Honestly it's better to always research them because a purchase can become you're worst nightmare making you sick rather than healthy .

it's a scary thing to actually go into purchasing a sauna blindly because at the end of the day you just need to make sure you know what you're getting into.

Well I hope I answered the question as to how the sauna truly is and I would really not recommend anyone purchasing this sauna. I buy a lot from Amazon.com and I hope I answered the question as to how the sauna truly is and I would really not recommend anyone purchasing the sauna.
I make several purchasesa from Amazon , I am a prime member and most of my reviews are thumbs up and great reviews like I said giving a bad review is something I truly do not enjoy doing but I really want to warn everyone that this was just not a good pick for me. God bless and happy Amazon shopping

Just like advertised. Get one!
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

I was paying $20 per session at a local spa. I need to do the sauna 3-4 times a week for Lyme disease so it was getting pricey. I found this one on here and was like there is no way that thing will work. Well I was completely wrong!! This works exactly like the spa version as far as sweat goes and it 100% relieved my joint pain. Keep in mind the price it is great for what you pay. The chair is uncomfortable and I will probably get a stool but other than that this is a winner!!!

Dry Sauna (Radiant Saunas BSA6310) vs Steam (U.S. Jaclean)
by CA Lover (4 out of 5 stars)
January 9, 2018

There are pros and cons of dry and steam sauna so I did the comparison review of each top selling product.

Pros of Dry Sauna (Radiant Saunas BSA6310)
* Easy to clean - Just wipe the sweat on the floor and take the chair to shower with you to clean.
* Less bulky - Comes everything in one unit including the heating unit, foot heater, and control unit.
* Easy set up and portable - Since it comes in one unit, easy to fold/unfold, and take no space to store.
* Make you sweat - Although it takes time (especially during winter), it does reache hot enough to sweat a lot.
* Easy access to books and phone - Pocket let you keep books, phone, tablet, and control unit in handy.

Cons
* Uncomfortable chair - Can't sit long time.
* Troublesome to clean chair - Because its material absorbes the sweat, takes time to clean and dry.
* Easy to lose heat - The heat can easily escape from the neck area and hand packets to lower temperature so fast.

Pros of Steam Sauna U.S. Jaclean Portable Lightweight Personal Steam Home Sauna 6pcs
* Make you really sweat - Reaches very hot temperature and makes you really sweat.
* More detoxing effect - Simply sweating more, you can detox more
* More calorie burning and muscle recovery - As the heart rate goes up more higher, more blood and oxygen is flowing to entire body.
* Easy to clean chair - Mesh material of the chair makes easier to clean and dry.

Cons
* Takes effort to clean - Together with your sweat and water from steam, you will find the flood on floor. Not only you need to clean the floor and chair, you need to wipe off the moisture on all inside walls.
* Bulky - The cabin and chair can be folded nicely but you have a separate big steam tank to put away.
* Less portability - Because of the task, you have to carry both the cabin and tank.

Simple conclusion

If you don't mind taking some efforts to clean, U.S. Jaclean steam sauna U.S. Jaclean Portable Lightweight Personal Steam Home Sauna 6pcs delivers more benefits such as more calories burning, detoxing, muscle recovery.

If you use frequent and want an easy way to clean, the BSA6310 is better.

Also like me, if you want to set it up at outdoor in some good day, the BSA6310 is more portable and easy to set it up.

I've been using this sauna for over a year now and love it. I truly feel I am getting a good de-tox. I am dealing with cancer and arthritis and it is helping in both areas. For the last month or so I have been using it every day. It is definitely worth the price.

Update: I have used this sauna for about 15 months, daily, and this week the side panel went out, so the unit no longer heats enough to provide any benefits. I figure for the amount of use I got of it, it is worth it buy another.

Worthless. Very inconsistent Heating.
by Bob from TN (1 out of 5 stars)
March 18, 2018

I cannot understand how anybody could have given this unit a four or five-star review. The heating is very inconsistent. In fact it only Heats your back and your shoulders. I discovered this the first time I got in the unit.

The second time I got in the unit I could cut the mometer with me. I follow directions and preheated the unit to 150 degrees theoretically for 5 minutes before I got in. I then set in the unit for 15 minutes with it set to 150 degrees. Then I measured the temperatures in various positions with my thermometer. The temperature at my feet was 110 degrees the temperature in my lap was 115 degrees the temperature at my chest was 118 degrees. It wasn't until I started measuring temperatures at my back that the temperatures got higher. The temperature at my back was 138 degrees the temperature at my lower back was 124 degrees. Now I know that this is supposed to be an infrared unit and all of the heating that occurs doesn't occur just from the heat inside the unit but physically the only part of my body that got warm or hot was my back my chest did not my legs did not. This is a very disappointing unit and my suggestion is that you not buy it unless the only reason you want it is to heat your back and shoulders. I am returning the unit.

Like others have said
by Callie (4 out of 5 stars)
November 24, 2017

Like others have said, this sauna doesn't feel like it REALLY hits temperature. But it still works. I found that pre-heating it for about 10 minutes is a great first step. I tend to sweat more when my face is exposed to some heat. This sauna normally would not allow for much heat to escape the top, but I unzip it a little and place a towel over my head to make a tent to trap in the hot air. My doctor recommended I do saunas to help detox during a specific health program that I am following. The doctor's sauna visits for one of these similar models are $60 a pop, so I wanted a cheaper solution. I have used this multiple times and have already gotten my money's worth. One thing my doctor told me is that if you aren't used to sweating (I don't sweat easily), that you have to retrain your body to do so. When I used the sauna at the doctor's for the first time I did not sweat much at all. I have used this several times and each time I sweat a little more. Give it some time and use some of the tips reviewers have provided, and you will definitely get use out of this product.

One word: Awesome.
by Tropical Panda (5 out of 5 stars)
May 2, 2019

I read all the reviews before buying this sauna. It works, and I love it. For those unfamiliar with far infrared (FIR) saunas, many people don't sweat their first few times in one. I myself had to use this sauna 5-6 times before I started to sweat. Anyway, I've been using it every day since I got it, and it has been helping me detox so much, both physically and emotionally.

Yes, it does look kind of silly to have your head sticking out the top of a huge silver tent thing, but you're in the privacy of your own home, so who cares? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The way this sauna works is through a controller that sets the temperature and duration. There are three large FIR panels: one on each side and one on the back. There are zippers on the front for your hands/arms so you can look at your phone, read a book, etc. There is a wooden dowel that latches across the front (inside) to help the sauna hold its shape. The unit plugs into a standard two-prong outlet.

Positives:
- It heats up in 2-3 minutes and has a flap that goes over the neck hole to minimize heat leakage before you get in.
- I'm a petite adult woman (5'4", 110 lb), and this thing heats me all the way around my body; even my legs sweat. A larger person may have different results, as evidenced by other reviews.
- It has double-sided zippers everywhere.
- The foot warmer is fantastic.
- The pocket can fit your phone and a slim remote control.

Downsides:
- The sauna controller has a very loud beep and looks like a clunky 1980s relic. That said, it works, so NBD, I guess?
- The chair that comes with the sauna is awful and hurts the side of your legs. It's just a cheapo camping chair that you could (and should) replace.
- The sauna doesn't have a "comfort neck strap" like the item description says. Some heat does escape around my neck, but I use a towel to block it off, and it's fine.

I wish I had gotten it sooner! The thing that sealed the deal for me was the video review by the fellow who tested the sauna with an EMF meter. As he showed, this sauna is indeed low-EMF if you're sitting in the middle. That was good enough for me, especially given the absurdly high EMF ratings in many of the larger infrared saunas by companies like JNH that go for about a thousand bucks.

Some background and thoughts about other home saunas below. (Who cares? You can skip this if you want, but I did a LOT of research before buying this portable sauna, so maybe my info can help others.)

I work at a spa, and we have a "hot coals" Scandinavian sauna in our facility - it is super nice and I love using it, but I quickly discovered that I don't enjoy being in it with other people: our customers recognize me as an employee and then talk the whole time, LOL, when I just want to zonk out and sweat.

My husband and I were thinking of buying a two-person home sauna for our basement but quickly realized we'd need to spend $3000+ to get one with a decent build quality that was also low-EMF. We were slightly tempted by the Ensi line by JNH, but my hubby (a professional carpenter and fine millworker) disliked how all the JNH saunas seemed to have such poor finishing, with wood shavings flaking off the ends, brackets misaligned, crappy audio speakers, and many wood panels insufficiently sanded. So then we started looking at saunas by High Tech Health, Radiant Health, and Clearlight - the three highest-quality sauna brands in the US right now - and that's how we realized we'd need to spend closer to $3000-4000 to get something that was decent quality. (Some quick googling will bring you to a professional blogger's site where he reviews tons of actual saunas, with video and commentary. JNH is cheap for a reason and does not fare well in his reviews.)

We weren't willing to shell out thousands of dollars for a sauna just yet, so I opted for this personal/portable one here on Amazon instead. I honestly don't know if we will ever buy a "real" sauna now because I love this thing so much.
* Update, September 2019, four months later *

Still using this sauna 3-5 times per week and loving it. No complaints. Gets hot super fast; I work up a good sweat in ~20 minutes.

I shouldve been have this long before now!!
by KD (5 out of 5 stars)
October 15, 2018

After reading 100's of reviews on various models....i decided to pick a dry heat sauna & not a steam one. I got it in today & i could hardly wait to play w/ my new toy!....let me say, Im glad i bit the bullet & took a chance even after reading some of the negative ones....i can truly say that it works for me. I lather myself w/a lil sweat enhancer & the sweat pour like raindrops on a car windshield. The only con is that if you're too tall you may have to slump back a bit....im abt 5"10 and I did my best to maintain a straight posture....the chair wasnt too uncomfortable... it does have a small backrest....i just need to learn how to position myself so that i wont strain my back. When i got out...i dripped sweat from my socks onto my carpet....Oh & i did use the foot pad..but i eventually turned it off.....& no it did not take long to heat up....it is a very easy set up & controls are easy.....i had it all the way up to 150°....and i could stand it very well, it was not overwhelming at all...in fact i think i could stand it a little hotter...im glad that j have it for home use...b/c when in done...i shower & sleep like a baby under the fan....happy trails!

update: a couple days later.....ok the only drawback for me is finding a comfortable position in the chair, in order to not slump & strain my back...Im right at 5"10..so I cant sit to far back b/c i would hit touch the heating panels....anyone taller would need to look into getting that bigger one....or maybe just taking the chair out completely & sitting with a towel on the floor of it...IDK..i'll think ill try that...but other than that...everything else is great
