Bad buy.

I just returned from a fishing trip to Kentucky, where several of us caught many bluegills and crappies. The guys I went with teased me about buying it, wanting to see how "GREAT" it worked. Some were only 7" long, which seemed to make removing the entire rib cage and the skin difficult. I ruined many of the fish we caught, because I found it difficult to grab the entire rib cage, and take off the skin without pulling the fillet into the unit. Needless to say, they weren't impressed, and were glad they hadn't made the investment themselves. For $150, which my wife thought was ridiculous, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

How do I clean the internal parts of the Skinzi
by John W. Brown (4 out of 5 stars)

Love this product, skins and remove bones excellently. I skinned and removed the bones from 80 Perch in less than an hour, (my first time using it). Removing and cleaning and replacing the roller is a snap. The only problem I found is that while you are using the Skinzit, small fish shavings and water get trapped in the small holes on the bottom of the unit and you can't get it out without putting the unit in water or running water into the holes and shaking the dirty water and shavings out, ( but the instructions says do not put it in water or other liquid), if you do not get the trash out the unit stinks. HELP, anybody has this problem?

Worked Quite Well!
by Amazon Customer (4 out of 5 stars)

It took some doing to part with $150 for the Skinzit but after using it I'd say it was worth it. It took a few fish to finally get the hang of it but after that everything went relatively smooth. I cleaned Bluegill, Crappie, Perch and Walleye and the Skinzit worked well on all of them. It does a great job in saving more meat than I can usually get without it and that in and of itself made this a good buy for me. My only complaint, aside from the high price, is it would be easier if it had a reverse gear. That way you could back out a filet on those rare occasions where you didn't feed it correctly. But overall I'm quite satisfied and would recommend the Skinzit if you clean a lot of fish in one setting.

Not so great for us

I purchased this for my son-in-law in January. First mistake! We should have known better to not purchase something that wouldn't be used for several months. He used it for the first time last week and said it was terrible. It was basically no help at all; it was better and faster to do the work manually. I would have loved to return the item but the time frame for a return understandably expired in February. Him and his dad clean a lot of fish, so admittedly they are probably really good at doing it manually. If you are very bad at it, this device could be an improvement for you.

in theory a great idea, but doesn't work

Doesn't operate correctly, tears the fish apart when trying to use, in theory a great idea, but doesn't work. After several attempts with different sized and kinds of fish, we tossed this.

Took some getting use to and wrecked a few crappier at first but works great now that we processed a lot of fish through it.

Product did not work like the video showed
by DOUGLAS HAWKINSON (1 out of 5 stars)

Product did not work like the video showed. Would not grip skin, and bones would roll up on wheel if it griped them. If it worked after practice you would ruin a lot of fish. Would not recommend.
