Looking for mobile mifi, this is the answer, no sim card needed
by Ervin W. Armstrong (5 out of 5 stars)

This is a great device to have. I'm going to Europe on a camping trip and I'll be visiting several different countries. I have been searching for a way to connect to the internet. One company offered me 4 different a mobile hotspots, the cost was insane. In my search no one told me about this device, all wanted me to spend a ridiculous amount of renting a mobile mifi for $7 to $14 a day. and switching to different sim cards for whatever country I'd be in.

This little puppy, with give you coverage in just about every country in Europe. I think it covers 34 different countries with no roaming charges. Rates are very reasonable. No wonder no one told me about this device, they cannot compete with it. Wherever you are going on your next trip, anywhere in the world, there is a good chance this unit can provide you with internet service for up to 5 different devices at once. It is so simple to get it up and running. I just got it and I wanted to make sure it worked, In no time at all I was checking out email with Explorer. I feel relieved now that I have my internet problem solved without costing me an arm and a leg. I noticed only 5 people have reviewed this unit, but they all rated it with 5 stars, if you get one of these units and check it out, you'll give it 5 stars as well. Especially after looking at a lot of other mifi units out there and seeing what they charge and how many different sim cards you need to operate the damn thing , This is a great little device.

extremely easy to setup and use
by SHY2NAK (5 out of 5 stars)

Received it a couple of days ago, extremely easy to setup and use, great competitive rates as I compared it to many out there (.05/MB in most countries), about the same as worldsim rates.

Made my decision to purchase this one due to it's simplicity of use, I don't want to be chasing all kinds of places on a one or two weeks trip just to have Internet available to me, and this takes care of it, used the Lan option in my house by connecting ethernet to it and again it worked great, it will switch over from 3g when Lan is connected to save 3g data use, also has a useful application to work with.

It's simple (Blue light=3g / Purple light=Lan)

So far works great in USA and I'm about to take it to Italy and see, I'm expecting it to work just as well there, hopefully.

Happy with my decision.

Update:March/14/15

VERY, VERY GOOD, I have now used it in US, Turkey, Italy and it performs flawlessly.

Extremely Happy.

Does exactly what it says - a very pleasant surprise

I had a family vacation to France and the UK planned with 3 teenagers and no clear idea of exactly what the wifi options were going to be when we arrived. I purchased the Glocalme mobile wifi hotspot as an "experiment" - hoping it would prove to be a backup just in case.

It surpassed my expectations. Easy to set up an account (I purchased the 1GB month long plan just to be safe), and dead easy to use (just slide the switch to the 2nd position), select the SSID, enter the password printed on the device -- after a few minutes of searching for the cell signal it's working. Good 3G speeds in Paris and London, and along the countryside while taking the Eurostar. Nice to have a battery backup for my phone (although I didn't have any need for the battery pack). Have used it a bit back in the US and it continues to work fine.

I considered docking a star from my rating because of it's weight and overall size (it has a huge battery), however it pretty clearly states how heavy it is, so I did get what I paid for. And the battery does last a very long time. Lack of manual / detailed instructions was a bit of a concern, but it turns out one really isn't needed.

Would recommend to others and would purchase another if I needed one.

Excellent - Japan
by Dini Vo (5 out of 5 stars)

Excellent.

I had it for a week trip to Japan. It worked throughout the trip from Hakone, to Tokyo, to Nikko (Mt. Nantai), with 3G speed almost everywhere; while my travel friends who had international roaming feature was having issues most of the time viewing maps/getting direction.

Connection was stable even on trains/Express lines.

Cons:

It does indeed get quite hot after running for a few hours in your bag, but you could use the heat if it gets a bit chilly out.

The battery only seems to last for 4-5 hours running constantly; heat probably reduces the operating time.

Tips:

It takes a few minutes to get completely turned on and connected.

Disable your mobile devices background data, as it might chew away data thinking it's Wifi. I simply 'restricted' its Wifi once connected through.

A 1 GB package lasted the 1 week trip, with still almost 500MB left. I sparingly used it to refresh maps, look for direction (train/hours), restaurants (some photos, reviews).

Although most offline maps for Japan are unavailable, Google Maps does cache the areas that I viewed/zoomed in to, so no need to have Wifi constantly on to have map (GPS also works independently of Wifi). Only needed Wifi to do searches.

Addendum after use in Thailand
by HHochderfer (4 out of 5 stars)

Set up in the US. The only issue was trying to activate the device. It required an email to support as no response through the mobile app based or web based activation process. No one also answers the phones; all you get is voice mail. However, once email support was contacted, I received a response within a few hours and was activated without difficulty. Set up was otherwise easy. I am planning to take it to Asia and will see how it works there. The mobile app makes staying on top of your account very easy. The device is otherwise very intuitive. You can use it to charge your phone and it will attach to an ethernet cable to use as a hot spot. It does take at least 10 minutes to connect with the internet over cellular when you first use it in a country, so it does not appear to be something you could use immediately getting off the plane without some time to set up and connect. I will add more once I have used it overseas.

I did use it in Thailand. It worked perfectly fine. Signal was a little slow in places, but in most cities I was able to use it without difficulty. It took several minutes to initially set up, as expected. It worked best when sitting at the hotel on if you are riding in a train or in a taxi. I could not just pop it into my backpack and have it keep supplying data for online mapping while walking about as it would automatically shut down when not actively receiving data. It is not as flexible as your phone SIM card for data-on-the fly, but was otherwise was very useful.

It looks like you want to use data but have none available
by Jake (4 out of 5 stars)

This item worked exactly as described at first. I was very impressed. I had to sign in to the website and purchase data, and from there I turned on the device, waited a few minutes for it to connect, and then was connected to the internet. I tried it in several different places in Maine, USA, and it worked in all of them.

THEN...after about a month internet speed measurably decreased. The connection became sporadic and there would be periods of 2-5 minutes where the device would be re-establishing a connection. Now it doesn't work at all. I can connect to the device with my computer, but there is no internet access. I've tried turning it on and off, and waiting for it to make a connection, but even after hours of troubleshooting, on several different days, and in several different places, I cannot get an internet connection at all.

I contacted customer support, but the email they contacted me at was not one I could respond to. It didn't accept incoming mail because I was not recognized by their email system.

In Portland, Maine, when I tried connecting, I got this error message in my browser:

AT&T Free Msg: It looks like you want to use data but have none available. You may need to add a data package, refill to use pay-per-use data or change to a plan that supports data. To check your plan and manage your account, start at att.com/mygophone. If you just made a payment for your monthly plan with data, power your device off and back on, then try again.

Now the returns window is closed and I'm stuck with a non-working $130 piece of hardware with no viable support from the makers. I am extremely dissatisfied with this product.
[EDIT]

The seller contacted me and offered to send me the new version of the device, free of charge. I've finally gotten around to starting it up and logging on with my previous ID. Things were a breeze, and the new device works great. It even has a convenient display screen for showing you available data, battery life, and wifi connection.

A great product for global business or leisure travelers!
by wsnew (5 out of 5 stars)
August 21, 2015

This is one of the best innovations in wireless telecom world! I love this mobile wi-fi hotspot product because of:
- global 3g data roaming capability
- no sim card required
- very reasonable rate for data usage
- the device can also be used as an extra battery pack to save your precious smart phone from power loss - when you truly need it!
- the great price ($130 at current promotion price)

I think its an awesome device for global business and leisure travelers. You don't have to go through the hassle of acquiring a SIM card at each different country, plus you don't have to have an unlocked smartphone! The speed of internet access is mostly depending on the network itself, I found it more than sufficient for normal use (email, search, wechat, map etc...). From my experience, the battery can last about 6-8 hours, which is mostly OK for a day, but you will need to charge it overnight. Nothing is perfect -- one area I expect the product team to improve on is the delay between turn-on and ready-for-use states, especially when you visit a new country (thus a new network) I think the device is 'thinking' really really hard while establishing new network access. But this does not affect my 5-star rating about this product! I truly wish the company can be successful and Glocalme will become a popular product worldwide. I believe those cool features could bring a revolution to cellular data industry!

I'm amazed
by Andy Dixon (5 out of 5 stars)
March 19, 2016

I've had this for several months now. And I'm amazed how well it works. However, there have been areas where it hasn't worked at all i.e. Ireland. I wasn't able to get it to work, but I did get it to work in Japan and Thailand and throughout the United States. I don't know how it works, but it does. I'm using it right now as I sit in an Amtrak train crossing through Montana and Amtrak has no Wi-Fi service. So I'm very happy that it works.
