I purchased 3 of these clips now and I am down to 1 left. I use them as part of a yarmulke which goes on my head. I have always used normal clips but I found that I was using the clips for more than just clips and this multifunctional clip was the perfect idea.

The issue I have had is they keep breaking. I bought one in 2015 and 2 in 2016 and they seem to last about 6 months to a year before breaking. I feel at close to 10 bucks a piece, they are not a good investment.

Update April 2017

The last clip has now broken. It lasted about 5 months. This product while very functional is not built for the long term. I really wish these would last as I love the functionality, but at the price point I cannot justify buying them.

As a hairclip, it functions perfect, just like any other barrette.

As a multitool it has its uses for sure. I have used it as a screwdriver for my glasses. I open packages with it all the time - you need to be careful on how you do this because sometimes tape can leave residue behind. I have used it as a nail scraper, and nail file as well. It is very useful to have around, and very easy to carry around because I use hairclips like this daily.

Every one of my friends who has seen this things it is really neat and that they need one too. I tell them, you really do need one, and not just because it's "cool", it is functional and comes in handy more often than not.

Too flimsy

Not useful for a whole lot. Too flimsy to be useful as a screwdriver or a knife, ruler is difficult to use because it's flat, hex head is easily bent. Works great as a barette...except it's uncomfortable.

Most of the tools worked as expected, the screwdrivers were most useful. The 'cutting edge' probably would take 15 minutes to cut through rope, but hey, in the unlikely event you are kidnapped and can get your barrette out to cut your ropes, more power to you.

The biggest problem - the side broke in half after just six months of occasional use. maybe 25-50 uses as a hair clip. As I flexed it back in place to put in my hair, it broke, whipping a tensioned, jagged edge into my scalp.

If I am spending $10 on a barrette, I expect it to last a year at least, not act like a dollar-store one made of cheap materials.

Sturdy metal hairclip

Purchased 2 because thought they were smaller than they are. Pic provided in packaging and hair for size. They're strong and definitely don't slip out of my fine hair. The 'knife' section is a bit silly but may be able to saw some string or paracord/plastic in an emergency. Personally, I carry a pen/tool kit that is a bit more useful. But, the idea is you'll have this on you in case your belongings and you get separated. Honestly, just like it because all other hair clips are useless pieces of plastic and this is heavy duty enough to keep my bangs in place all day. the rest is just a plus and/or conversion starter.

I absolutely Love this clip. I plan to buy another for myself (for the times I misplace the one I have) and maybe several for friends/family as little stocking stuffers. It comes in handy so often. I generally just wear the clip below my ponytail so it's easily available.

It's been handy when replacing batteries on my kids' toys, when I'm painting a room and have to remove the light plates, and many other times.

I love useful gadgets and this one has proved itself very worthwhile.

What a clever little hair accessory! I find myself using it often - it's so fun to be able to pull this out of my hair to adjust something (just today I tightened the screw on my sunglasses with it). Ha, makes me feel like an even further resourceful woman than I already was! Do wish it was a little sturdier though...

I'm a tomboy that likes to camp/hike/etc. but has long girly hair. This is fantastic. Just FYI, It's a bit bulky to wear around town (as compared to the hair clips you get at any old store) since it's more function than fashion. But if you're like me & don't care, you should deffinitly get one. I love it!!!!!!

This makes me feel like MacGyver! Its a little bigger than your average hair clip like this but its much stronger and feels more substantial than a plain old flimsy hair clip. I wear it or have it on me all the time - I'm just waiting for that perfect opportunity to whip it out and use one of the tools!

Bigger than I expected. I really want to wear them more often than I am able to because they are so cool; they just look a little strange unless I have big hair going on. I'd say they are about 1.5-2x larger than a normal clip-type barrette. Still fun, and I keep waiting for an opportunity to resolve some sort of problem with them!
