similar refined sound to its big brother the A7 ... best bluetooth speaker yet!
by Marcelo Goncalves (5 out of 5 stars)

Great sounding Bluetooth speaker - refined sound.

I have many bluetooth speakers, Bose, JBL, more bose and many Airplay speakers (Bose and B&W A7).

not quite the finement of the B&W A7, but a much more refined listen to the Bose or JBL... I like both the Bose and the JBL, but the T7 is very involving, refined and a great listen.... plus 18+ hours of battery life.... i always forget when was the last time I charged it...

at home I have a very high end stereo set up, which I don't listen to very often as it is in a dedicated environment, the tubes need to warm up, and its a great listen when I have the time .... I end up listen most of the time to the B&W A7 in the dining room via airplay or the T7 in the bedroom (even though I have 2 more set ups in the bedroom also! the T7 is just more convenient).

if you care about sound, more than most of your friends, and your partner complains about how much money and things you have regarding audio, this is the bluettooth speaker for you .... excellent!

B&W T7 vs. JBL Charge2???
by MJ (3 out of 5 stars)
December 25, 2015

First - full disclosure - I own B&W 804Diamond speakers and love them - especially once I added the PV1D subwoofer to give the low end a bit more presence. I have wanted a Bluetooth speaker to enable portable listening, and given my satisfaction with the 804Diamonds, was pre-disposed to the T7 when it came out...in my mind it was going to sound great before I even listened to it. A bit more background - we decided at the last second to get my daughter a JBL Charge2 Bluetooth speaker for Christmas...she wanted something she could dance with and use for parties.

So here it is, Christmas...both speakers have been unpacked and listened to for a few hours (and in the case of the Charge2 - used as a speakerphone)...and one has been re-packed for return...the T7. While I fully intended to keep both of these units, my out of the box experience with the T7 was less than thrilling, then the Charge2's performance provided the perspective to justify it's return.

The B&W T7's sound was very clean, and slightly more detailed than that of the JBL Charge2, but provided painfully less bass presence. Mind you I am not talking about a lack of big booming bass here - you have to be realistic, these are both very compact units (and I don't care for boomy undefined bass in any speaker to begin with). My disappointment was with the complete lack of bass presence at lower listening levels in the T7. Unless the volume was well elevated (to the point that overall listening level was quite a bit higher than I wanted) there simply wasn't a good punch with the T7. Meanwhile, the Charge2 had my foot tapping, and was very listenable and balanced-sounding at lower levels...after a bit it simply edged the T7 off the living room table.

B&W needs to take a good look at this offering and see if perhaps the dollars tied-up in matrix filigree and iPhone-esque packaging can be reallocated to provide decent opposing-fired bass/mids (JBL literally beat them using their own PV1D technology) and balanced, present sound at all listening levels. The only way I can see this unit being a good fit is if you are listening at fairly high volume most of the time, and that just doesn't fit the majority of situations in which I picture the B&W set using this speaker. Please try again B&W...and to JBL - nice work!

A Very Good Quality Portable Speaker, But If Looking for a Small Speaker for a Room, HomePod is bett
by Jacob and Kiki Hantla,Top Contributor: Star Wars (4 out of 5 stars)

I am a huge fan of Bowers and Wilkins, especially their headphones and large speakers, so I had very high hopes for the T7, but was a bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it is a good sounding speaker and an excellent and attractive package. It advertises itself as great bass, but this is not its strongest suit, instead it is actually a pretty well balanced, not keeping up as well as a Homepod with heavy bass.

The reason to get this is for the easily portable, long-lasting good sound. The sound is better than any of the Bose small bluetooth speakers I've heard. It is greatly inferior, however, in my opinion to the Apple Homepod, but it is much more portable (and supports bluetooth). The sound from the T7 is also extremely directional, only sounding good directly in front of the speaker.

The battery easily lasts an entire day. I've been using it at work as a portable speaker in the operating room (I am a nurse anesthetist, in charge not only of anesthesia but of the music in the operating room). I charge it each night. The volume is sufficient for a room but not loud even at 100% except when right in front of the speaker.

For the quality, I feel that the speaker is a bit overpriced. The quality is definitely high. For portable, wireless use, I recommend it especially if you could get a discount. However, for a small speaker for a room like an office or bedroom, a HomePod is a better, comparably priced option

B&W brilliance in a very small package
by MrB (5 out of 5 stars)

Unbelievably good. I've been a big fan of B&W speakers since the 70s, when I bought a pair of DM7 speakers. I later upgraded to a pair of Matrix 1E and am still using them. This little gem is worth every penny. I have previously used the Bose mini sound link which is very good, but the B&W beats it hands down for depth, clarity, pure sounding bass and battery life.

My only complaint - as yet no one has brought out a carry case. C'mon people this speaker deserves a really nice carry case!!

another B&W product that is truly awesome. As others have written

As usual, another B&W product that is truly awesome. As others have written, if you are looking for tons of bass or highs, pass this by.

If you are a sophisticated listener who wants clean and natural sound, with great battery life, then take the plunge.

The old adage 'You get what you pay for' hold true once again.

I'm ready to throw all my other speakers in the trash, and buy more of these.

Great speaker

I have had this speaker for a couple of months. I have also had hands on experience with the bose Soundlink 3 as well as the B&O Beoplay A2 . I can honestly say the T7 is the best but ill explain . 1st the Bose is a great speaker with the ability to give good bass which is it's strong point as well as its weakness. It's capable of very clean bass but times can be very muddy with bass over doing the vocals . I found this was great for playing games which added to the gameplay . I'm not a big gamer but I can see how this would be beneficial to game play .
I found the beoplay A2 had a very clean sound as well as the T7 . They both had very clean bass and never had that muddy sound I found with the Bose . Maybe never achieving the bass like Bose but as I've said that can be a good and bad thing.
What we have to realize is that these speakers will never take the place of a bigger bookshelf speaker but placed in the right position they do a pretty great job as trying .
So why I would chose the T7 over the Beoplay A2 is purely esthetics. The T7 is a great speaker. Beautiful design and doesn't feel cheap . The A2 on the other hand has a plastic grill. Also the thinness of the Beoplay A2 made it difficult to stand up on certain surfaces ( which is purely my doing as I like to sometimes watch movies in bed ) .
That's my review . Hope this helps . You won't be disappointed if you purchase T7 .

I happen to like the B&W "sound". Great design and performance. As other reviews point out, position is important and best played at 6/10 volume or less (plenty loud for most situations). Yep, very little in the way of additional features and expensive. Don't heed the haters tho, there's more than $350 of magic packed in that little box and you won't regret your purchase.

Great base, clear voice, great battery life, but rather confined sound that lacks stereo effect
by Joseph Cho (3 out of 5 stars)

This speaker lacks mid and high. Right before I ordered this, I ordered B&O A2 and people around me who just listened to A2 said that A2 lacked the kick and deepness of sound, which made the music light and cheap sound. Well, when B&W T7 arrived, I was so excited to listen to this great name-valued speaker, that I saw somewhere on website as the best speaker in 2016; and as more I listened to T7, I was impressed with A2 with its rich sound. T7's strength is in its battery life, great bass, and clear voice when you play songs with lyrics. However, every time I listen to orchestra music, I had to change the volume to low, when emphasizing part came in, and high, when string sections came in to be quite. The difference between the bass and high was too much to deal with without changing the volume.

Another problem was that it seemed to not be able to use the space well. It sounded too confined, sounded like loud music coming out from small speaker. Yes, if you turn the volume up, it gets really loud and with great durability, it lasts longer than A2. However, as soon as I turned A2, I was hearing all those sounds that were not heard from T7 in the same music, especially music with spacious sound.

Overall, this speaker would be great if you want a mobile speaker that lasts long and gets really loud for crowd to dance or something. For me, I am sending this back.

great speaker!

ive had this speaker for a year and its amazing the sound quality is what you expect from B&W, the design has a little bit of retro which is cool, i just wish they had a case like bose has. i take it with me when i travel and its getting kinda scratched and the front grill has a little dent. i guess this speaker is meant to be abused but hey its still a great speaker if its not the best. and the battery is one of the most durable ive seen

I bought this when it first came out and was not very impressed by the sound at all. I just noticed that there was a new firmware at the bowers and wilkins site for this (Nov. 2015). Just applied it and it makes a HUGE difference - give it a shot
