Cool wearable

This is a cool little device.

Setting up is easy, but it takes a little practice to get the Ring to recognize your gestures. That said, it's really easy to use once you get the hang of it.

I wish that it was smaller, but I'm satisfied with it overall.

PLEASE. I'm going to say that a few more times in this review.

First of all, if you're considering buying this and you're not in Japan, please buy from Amazon. I bought from the website and it took forever.

Now that that's out of the way, if you're considering buying this, be a developer. And if you are a developer, please make sure the SDK for your platform is available, not just the Android intents instructions given at the time of this post. There is absolutely no support in any apps, whatsoever. In fact, developers are specifically instructed not to publish their apps. The app by Logbar is... the second biggest downfall of Ring Zero. Even if you manage to get comfortable with the gestures provided, there are very few things the app can do. For example, a complete gesture library for writing is available, but it's not tied into any keyboard function. Meaning, you could write something if there was an app that let you, but there isn't. Also, don't believe Logbar's demo videos. Yes, they have the ability to do all you see, but there is no actual way to do them at the moment.

The biggest downfall is the size. I hear it's an improvement over the prototype. (And perhaps that's one reason it's called Ring Zero. It's a beta version.) But improvements don't make a big thing small. There is simply no way you'll wear this for more than five minutes at a time after trying it for an hour, which is the first hour after opening your mailbox. The width between your index and middle finger just doesn't support it. I'm attaching a picture of my size L Ring Zero on my hand, which is 8" from wrist to fingertip.

The thing is, there's no reason the ring width couldn't be shrunk down. There's nothing there. Nod Ring, for example, does exactly the same as Ring Zero, and does it with a design meant to be worn all day. Sure, Nod Ring isn't available right now, but then, you shouldn't think of Ring Zero as being available, either. In fact, there are a slew of new motion control rings coming out in the next few months that, please, you should wait for. Especially if you're not an app developer.

Other complaints that don't deserve their own paragraph: when to use the thumb sensor, why the ring doesn't just wait for something like a double-tap on a hard surface and give you 3 seconds to make a gesture, how cheap the whole thing feels (seriously, it's worse than Samsung phones a few years back), the fact that Eco-Mode is something I have to remember to do instead of happening automatically, the fact that the battery lasts MAYBE six hours without Eco-Mode, how long it takes such a small battery to charge, how temperamental the charging stand is at charging, how rushed and haphazard the size inserts design solution feels, and how little help any help you're provided really is.

That last one deserves its own paragraph. Go on the website and read through How To Use. Note whether you're actually clear on how the ring should be worn (it doesn't matter for all gestures, but it matters enough on most), and anything else you read there. If you're left with any questions at all, you will still have the same questions once you try it and read through the instructions. Ah, questions--yes, go look in the FAQ as well. Make sure you count how many questions in the FAQ are given a short, single sentence answer--don't bother, the answer is 3 out of 17. And one of them is two sentences @ 18 words long. All of them deserved and needed clearer, more thorough answers. But questions, instructions... really, it's your fault you don't understand. The messianic geniuses at Logbar Inc. simply can't be bothered with your cognitive disabilities.

If I had to say one nice thing about Ring Zero... it looks pretty sitting on its battery charger, even when it's not plugged in and charging. Which is exactly where mine has sat for the last ten days since I got it.

Please, just wait. Competitors will be better, the tech will get better, and maybe even Logbar will get better. I'm an early adopter of a lot of tech. This isn't even ready for early adopters.

It comes with many gestures but I think the most useful ones are

This is an interesting product. I was attracted by the gesture control and wanted to see how it works. It actually works very well, more than I expected. It comes with many gestures but I think the most useful ones are, taking a picture and posting it. This function is really nice cuz you can have your phone out of the reach of your hand and still take pics, good for selfie and good for group pics, then you can tweet or post on FB and stuff. This is pretty cool. I'm planning on buying the external device to add more actions. I think this product is good to try, looking forward to the next model too. Hope it gets thinner.

THIS DOES NOT WORK WITH ANDROID PHONES!!!

Inspite of bad reviews for this product in the recent past, I put confidence in the developers and bought this product.

But I was wrong in putting faith on the Logbar. This does not work with android phones. If they are still developing for android they should have written that this is for IOS only and not released the app in android as well.

Very disappointed.
