Tough Stuff!
by Kelly Guenther (5 out of 5 stars)

I put this on several seams on the inside of my jacket, a down jacket, where it it ripped after a pretty hard fall during snowboarding. I then used their seam repair liquid on the outer seam -- and have given the jacket heavy use since then. The stuff is tough. And it was far, far less than what the seamstress was quoting me for a repair.

Tenacious Indeed! Withstands wear, washer and drier. Saved a $200 down jacket.

I made the mistake of using my new down jacket as a winch line damper, and it got sucked in around a tree while recovering another Jeep. The result were several rips in the nylon shell, which I temporarily patched with medical tape. I replaced the medical tape with these patches and, while the jacket doesn't look like new it's hard to see the repairs.

Best of all, a few weeks after patching the jacket it needed to be washed. I put the jacket in my front-load washing machine set for delicate cycle, used Downy laundry soap, and then ran the jacket through the dry set on very low for 2 hours to get the down lofted back up and distributed evenly. All of the patches stayed intact. While $7 seems expensive for six little patches they allowed me to save a $200 down jacket. So I call that a win in my book.

I bought this tape because unfortunately my dog ripped a hole in my North Face down jacket. Since the jacket is an olive color, I chose the clear. The tape was easy to apply and does the job to keep the feathers from coming out. The only downfall of this tape is that it is a bit shiny, and my jacket is matte, so it is noticeable in the light that my jacket has been patched.

Used this to patch a smallish hole on a puffer-jacket. So far, it's performed incredibly well; adhered to the fabric firmly and has remained stuck since (my jacket was a slate grey, and the black patch is barely noticeable - it almost looks intentional).

A couple of things to know: (a) I don't wash the jacket very often, and (b) it's only been a couple of weeks. If for any reason this product starts to fray, stain, come loose, etc. I'll be sure to update this review.

UPDATE: a year later, the puffer jacket's patch is still holding strong! I've also used this to patch some trail-running shoes, and so far it's held up well on those as well.

Fantastic product

Love this tape. My son cut the tag out of his new patagonia down jacket. I thought that the jacket was toast because you can't sew that fabric. Learned about this tape and I am thrilled with the results. It totally patched up the hole and the jacket is perfect. My son has worn his jacket many times since I applied it, and it stays put. Haven't washed the jacket yet, but will update if anything other than great. I have a feeling that it's there to stay.

They work, 2 were damaged.

The black patches were awesome, they stuck to the inside of my jacket. The clear ones did not stick too well to the outside of my jacket. But I used the patches so I could put a different kind of button on my jacket. I pushed the new buttons through the patches and they are holding so they did their job well. Another thing 1 black and 1 clear patch were cut through I guess from the machine to put the peel off platic on the back of them, but I still used them because I needed to.

Works... for the most part
by Kyros (4 out of 5 stars)

These work... for the most part.

I have a pair of hiking pants (polyester fabric) that ended up with a hole at the crotch area after a furious fanning session for a campfire. I like that it has both black and transparent patches; I used the transparent one and cut out two small squares for the outside and inside of the fabric. I also have a shirt (cotton) that had a hole and so I used the same treatment, but this time using the black patches. After putting them on, I put some weight over the area just to make sure it adheres to the fabric. After that, I threw them in the washer on cool/gentle, then dryer for tumble dry/low.

The patches on the pants were fine and didn't even look wet or anything. The patches on the shirt however came off. Also, the experience for cutting up the patches was a bit of a pain. It's like a band aid - if you use the whole square then it's easy because of the peel-to-apply method. But if you need smaller shapes and you have to cut, it gets hard because they'll lose the loose part of the flap. Anyway, love the portability though, definitely going in my camping bag along with first aid gear since it's so small.

Good patches for black vest
by Christine Abbott (4 out of 5 stars)

Black works great to patch small holes on my Black Marmot vest. My husband probably wishes I'd throw my "life vest" out, but I keep finding ways to keep it alive ;-) I cut the patches easily, don't make them too small or they don't stay on. Some areas around the pockets have a shorter lifespan of staying put, but there's plenty in the package to keep me busy patching! Getting the back off the adhesive of smaller pieces is a pickle, but patience helps. I haven't used the clear patches, so I can't speak to them, but the black with my vest works for me.

Grateful Momma!!

My daughter tore the sleeve of her $80 jacket in the first month of use. I was at a loss how to fix it until I found this stuff. The reviews were good, so I tried it out. VERY EASY to apply, took less than five minutes. Wish I had taken a before pic, but the tear was a decent size, L shaped. And with the multicolor, I chose the clear tape.

I took a pic with the flash and without. You can see a slight outline of the tape in the pic with the flash, but it blends in perfectly, as you can tell without the flash. When touching it, you can feel the edge a bit, but not enough to be horrible. My daughter is 10, so we'll see how well it stands up to her using the jacket over this season. But so far, it seems great!
