Looks awesome as a watch band
by Anthony Magadino (5 out of 5 stars)

I'm using this as a watchband, to do this you will need to purchase the treadlinks separately and know the correct mm size of the lugs on the watch you plan to attach it to. Its looks really cool and beefy, but you will lose about 1/2 the links on the bracelet, I'm a pretty big guy and have 4 links and the clasp. Looks great with the Samsung gear S3 frontier.

Well made, heavy looks good in black. It's not matte black but looks more like polished carbon. Came sooner than expected. But pricey but worth it.

well loved tool

I got my boyfriend one for his birthday two years ago. the black one is a coat. Over the last two years it has patina nicely. If you aren't into a more rugged look, the stainless may be a better option as the black coat does wear away exposing the stainless. It has held up to routine daily use as an IT person. Handy to have on him at all times for those instances wear you need a small tool. all the Leatherman quality you expect.

Clever Idea, Hope They Add Even More
by Yasunori-San (4 out of 5 stars)
December 3, 2015

I've been wearing/using my Leatherman Tread for about 2 months now and I think that after the initial honeymoon period, I can now give it pretty fair assessment. With many more good traits than bad balanced against cost, I would rate it a "very good" (not perfect yet).

I'm not a big jewelry person and have consistently eschewed big, chunky, Rolex-type jewelry watches and bands as too ostentatious and impractical. But, I found an increasing need for a "dress" watch (to go with suits as sports watches just look inappropriate) and the Tread seemed to perfectly fulfill my wishes to look respectable, while remaining practical/prepared at heart.

The Tread is unexpectedly comfortable. It has not pinched, pulled out hair, scratched me, or left deep permanent tool marks. Except for the exceptional heaviness, I would not notice it much at all. After sacrificing two full links, it fit my wrist perfectly. So far it has only accidentally unclasped once during an especially energetic hand tool movement (crushing salt) and even then, the watch stayed around my wrist. I had much initial concern about the SAE screws that held all the links together, but after two months, I have not noticed any unwanted loosening. I continually monitor these parts and post an update later if it becomes a problem. There's always LocTite I suppose. Note: I wear mine almost constantly now (outdoor work, in the shower, immersion in seawater) and it shows no sign of corrosion. The tools do scratch the surface, but I expected that.

To my surprise, the most used and useful tool(s) happened to be the Allen hex keys. There are two in particular that I used several times a week for my takedown recurve bow and my special optics. They are not the most ergonomic tools to access and deploy, but I can say that they function adequately AND, more importantly, they are now always with me on my wrist. The Phillips is probably my next most used tool and, honestly, it is rather hard to deploy and impractically short for much more than a quick tighten on a surface screw. Nevertheless, it is there which is the point. I have used the little cutter-hook blade to conveniently cut cord and wire (particularly when whipping out a knife blade seemed inopportune). Though I have not used it, yet, it gives me peace of mind to have a back-up glass breaker always handy and it obviates a need for me to carry an additional special tool just for that function. The same goes for the O2 wrench. I'll probably have no use for the various hex cut outs, but who knows.

So overall, I like it and am happy with it's functionality and general design. It works well as a comfortable, decent-looking watchband. It works adequately for basic tool needs. I think I am fair in down-grading it a Star for it's function limits, for it's heaviness (which could be alleviated with Titanium, hint, hint!), and, alas, it's value/price.

Also, this last section is not part of the critique, but simply an expression of wishes and suggestions for future improvement. Let customers choose link sets (metric/SAE). By including both, it takes up valuable link space with almost redundant sizes. Also, consider, an all Robertson link and an all Torx link. Some links have a nice hollow space horizontally through the link and I was initially very excited about them since they seem sized to fit the Bit Kit bits, but..... no. So why not? Make one of the vertical holes a bit-driver socket and allow "extra" bits to be carried "in" the band. There are many tools/accessories/gadgets that I would love to see added to the links: mini-whistle, handcuff key, bit-sized pen, replaceable flint/ferrocerium bar, screw-on watertight compartment (for battery, pill, tinder), removable magnifying lens, and perhaps a general slide-in adapter which holds other things hands free, like a micro LED light.

A man's bracelet!
by Bassem Kattan (5 out of 5 stars)

Simply put, this is the only bracelet worth being called a "Man's bracelet"!

I love it, wear it every day, bought a black one for my son, he loves it, and it's like our signature bracelet now.

The first one i got had a faulty link wear the glass breaker bit fell off. i contacted leatherman, and got my replacement bracelet in no time.

Great company, great product, great support...

Fantastic

Very well made as is everything made by Leatherman. Unbelievable that they can fit that many tools in one bracelet. What my husband really likes is that it goes through TSA without a problem. When traveling we always seem to encounter a problem of some sort that requires a tool that you don't normally pack.

This is a great bracelet
by W. Hay (5 out of 5 stars)

I have only owned this bracelet for two days now but so far I am very happy with the fit and finish. I have a fairly hairy arm, though I really have not found that this bracelet pulls hair or catches on my shirt any more than any metal watch band would. Accessing some of the tools is a little clunky, but I think that is a reasonable trade-off for the comfort and looks of the product, and honestly I picked this product more as novelty item which looks great and can be used in an emergency if necessary. Not positive if the bits would hold up to heavy tasks, but I figure Leatherman has such a great reputation with their 25 year warranties that if I do end up damaging a link I will just have them repair/replace it. Honestly it has met all my expectations, though I tried to keep them realistic.

If you are just looking for a utilitarian tool, then it probably isn't worth the expense. But if you are looking for jewelry which will express your love for tools (and leatherman products) and can also be used in a pinch, then this is a great purchase.

Looks cool paired with a paracord survival bracelet.

My wrist is 9", but I still had to agonize over which link had to be removed to fit properly, so I ended up losing the only 1/4" link on it that had the two smallest flatheads on it, I suppose I'll try and find a small keychain multi-tool to fill that purpose.

I never take this off
by Nacho (5 out of 5 stars)

Only time this leaves my wrist is to take a shower. Of courae you could wear it in the shower with no problem, just don't want soap film build up.

People will ask you what this is because they've never seen one before. I get asked or complimented or just stared at often.

This can also be used as a watchband if you buy the chronolinks.

amazing! no its not just for show but it does turn some heads and I've used it at least 3 times a week since getting it. its extremely helpful for my Airsoft gear. I usually pack an allen key & flat heads to use while playing but whenever I feel something lose on my gun or gear I just wipe this out and boom, no wiggle!.

the down side is that due to its design it can only get to things that are open without anything blocking its way.

just be careful when using it, don't over torque it to avoid any misshaping of the flat head.

cant wait for leatherman to start selling individual links so I can swap out or reconfigure it for me.

get it, get it, get it..

So far it's been great. After reading some of the reviews
by Ken (4 out of 5 stars)

So far it's been great. After reading some of the reviews, I went over the bracelet and checked the screws. None of the screws were missing or had loosened up. I wear the Tread every day, all the time, and don't baby it. Minimal signs of wear, no deep scratching, and very comfortable to wear.

Regarding the use of the Tread as a multi - tool, it has sructural limitations. Taking this a step further, I didn't expect to rebuild a motor or remodel a kitchen with the Tread before purchasing.

It's a cool bracelet, that can handle simple little tasks, and a great conversation piece.

I am giving this 4 stars only because the screws fell out after wearing it for a short period of time and the links dropped. We were able to pitch things back together with some screws we found and made... He loves this "man-let" not a bracelet shows it off to everyone and uses it on the simple household needs. I found him fixing the door handle to the slider!!!

So much better than the cheaper ones
by Dutch father (5 out of 5 stars)
July 12, 2019

I bought this for one of my son's Christmas gifts after looking at similar asian imports at the mall stores. This is much more expensive but being name brand made a difference to me and him. Well worth the money and the size is easily changed by deleting tools you won't likely use.
