Pyromaniacs rejoice
by Aaron I (5 out of 5 stars)

These matches are absolutely ridiculous. They are huge. They look awesome in their yellow-orange-brown vest. Once you light one, YOU CANNOT PUT IT OUT. You cannot blow it out, and it burns under water. If you drop it it will set on fire whatever you dropped it on, and there is nothing you can do about it.

If you absolutely positively have to get a fire started, use a Titan match. If you can't light it with one of these, you really have nobody to blame except yourself.

Get some. For your inner pyromaniac. You will grin ear to ear every time you use one.

UCO Titan Matches - Unbeatable
by KreativeRev (4 out of 5 stars)

Have you ever used the UCO stormproof matches? Then you know how these are the bees knees!

As an avid outdoorsman I always carry a firestarter. Fire steel is a must but matches are a necessary backup.

It was -25C on an expedition in northern Canada. A team member had a glove fail and soak completely (gore-tex knock off) I lent him my mitts while I tried to light my MSR XGK stove. While you can trust your life on a fire steel to work every time, I quickly lost the dexterity in my fingers and hands to execute a proper strike into the stove cup. In this situation I knew we would be in trouble if we could not get some snow melted and some hot food in us. I remembered I packed the UCO titan match kit and clumsily struck the match really hard. Thanks to the thick wood cores, the match did not break and lit up with force. The extended burn time and fierce flames of the match, braved cold and wind of my open tent vestibule (seriously don't light liquid gas stoves inside your tents dudes). These matches probably saved a finger or two from frost bite and really are pure quality.

My only criticism of the product is that the matchcase isn't anything to write home about. The paper striker should be on the inside or fixed with a cover to the inside of the cap. If the case gets wet, your matches will be fine, but the striker would be mush... thankfully they give you a few replacements to keep inside the case though!

Never seen matches that big!
by Shelly S. (5 out of 5 stars)

Just as advertised. Make sure to check dimensions because this is nothing like waterproof cases found at Wal-Mart, Academy, etc. Much, much larger. Matches are huge! I removed the matches and put several regular-sized storm matches in it instead (along with a whistle, small mirror, fuel tab, fishing line/hooks, needles, ...) to be used in my kayak for a survival kit. Works perfectly!

Currently teaching survival courses and tested matches in class. Can't blow them out. Can't put them out by pouring water over them. Aren't bothered by box fan (on high setting) blowing on them when starting a fire. Withstand dunking in water for at least 5 seconds. The 30 second burn time that is stated isn't an exaggeration. Great product!

Good concept, horrid case. Avoid this kit.

The case of one of the sets I ordered arrived screwed on too tight. This, three of the 12 matches were snapped / broken - only 9 were useable. The thing is, if the case isn't screwed all the way down, the water seal / o-ring is useless. So you either have broken matches or no water seal.

That, and Amazon says these can't be returned. NOT happy, and I would avoid. Others - take a closer look at your case and your matches, what you find may not make you happy.

Lousy, lazy design. Adding 1mm to the case would solve the problem.

Pretty amazing combo!

I have to say, if you're looking for the most gonzo matches possible this is your jam! These are basically a UCO Stormproof on steroids. Construction seems to be identical except for size. These are ginormous matches, probably the biggest waterproof match out there. The case is well made; a bit thinner/lighter than the ones for the regular Stormproofs but still pretty sturdy.

The matches burn with a bit larger flame and about twice as long as their smaller brethren.

So would I recommend them? That's a tough call. They don't really work "better" than the smaller ones. You get a little bit longer burn time but at the cost of a much larger case. In the space it takes to store the Titan case you could probably fit two the Stormproof cases, or very close to it. I think I'd rather have 50 of the smaller ones vs the dozen that fit in the Titan. I'll note that you can cram in another couple matches if you store a few upside down but that applies to the smaller ones, too, so it's a wash.

Bottom line- these are a lot of fun and work well, but probably not as practical for most folks as the smaller, regular UCO Stormproof matches. But they are a hoot!

Pretty Darn Good, But........

This is a good product, with one exception. Although the 'match head' is huge, and short term water proof, the wooden part of the match never burns. Once the match head is burned, it is all done. Putting some wax on the length of the match is helpful in this regard. These are not strike anywhere matches, either - FYI, but contrary to popular opinion, the striker is at least short term water proof as well. The amount of smoke and smell make these unsuitable for indoor use.
I would recommend these, and I would buy them again.

It's like lighting a road flare

These matches are MONSTERS! It's like lighting a road flare. Downside is that only the UCO case will fit them because the traditional match cases are too small. This is the match to use when your life depends upon the fire.

Great product but not made in the USA

This is a good waterproof match carrier and the matches are awesome !

You can see tests of these matches on Youtube.

The container will actually hold 14 of these matches. I took the striker off the outside of the container , so it doesn't get wet , and put it inside the container in the plastic pouch with the other strikers...

The only thing I don't like about these is that they're made in India instead of here in the USA.

Camping, Survivalist & Prepper Essential
by jdcpa (5 out of 5 stars)

I'll use a real estate analogy for this product. I deal with real estate developers that want to load up a house with all the bells and whistles, and end up with a finished product that's absolutely fantastic, over the top, but so unaffordable that nobody around the area has any use for it (and therefore, can't justify every buying it). Then, you have those real estate developers who just get it. People just want a home to live in, but don't have the time or finances to wait months and pay out cash to take a handyman special and put work into it to make it livable. These latter developers make the minimum viable product (MVP), they deliver and offer just the minimum that's acceptable and sufficient. As a result, it keeps the price low enough the inventory keeps moving.

This product is the latter, and that's a great thing. You can't argue with the price. On top of that, the quality of this product (given the price) is excellent. Not some cheap flimsy plastic that looks like it's going to crack under 10lbs of pressure. The case is genuinely waterproof, and large enough to comfortably fit the large Titan Stormproof matches from UCO (and still have a little bit of space for some cotton tinder on top).

I'm a recreational survivalist (more than a practical prepper). I have money to spare and like to err on the side of excess with an arsenal of different alternates to fit the situation. I've went for the aluminum $30+ option, with a sexy bright orange. The metallic case is actually heavier than this plastic case. On top of that, it's too small to fit the Tital Stormproof UCO matches. That may not be such a big issue for the recreational car camper. If that's the boat you're on and you're looking for a luxury status symbol product to show off to your camping buddies, then go with the $30+ metallic sexy bright orange case. If you're going to be primitive camping in the winter in 10F to -10F weather, with winds and wet precipitation, for 3+ days, then its very important you have a product that's light, simple, and can give you the 20+ seconds of match time you need to do whatever it is you wanted to do with that match. 10+ seconds is fine. But with a 20+ second match, you can literally just use it as your ignition and fire starting tinder until it lights up your feather wood fuel.

For preppers, it really depends what you're preparing for. If you're preparing for a full blown NBC scenario, then you're probably going to be in a basement, and you probably don't need this product to begin with (let alone the additional gasses from a 20+ second Titan match). If you're a non-NBC emergency prepper, I would still recommend this product over the $30+ sexy orange metallic case. You can use the regular Stormproof matches if you don't live in an area with high winds or wet precipitation (even if the weather is freezing). This will allow you to store a higher total number of regular Stormproof matches, and ample tinder in a waterproof and airtight container.

Don't buy. Not a full set, doesn't light well.

I was looking forward to this but I'm sad to say that when it arrived it had missing parts, and is effectively non-functional. Tried to use them anyway - we got desperate - and they simply didn't work as advertised.

Missing the strike paper; should have come with 3 but only had one and it looks torn/scratched up. Don't trust it, it's too smooth. With no match paper and without the ability to strike one of the 9 matches - was expecting 12 matches - this is worthless.
