Beta Testers Wanted....
by MW (1 out of 5 stars)

Tried for over a week to get this Door Bell to work as described, however this product is just not ready for the market. Shame too, because I really want this device to work. Below are a few design flaws and other problems that make this device DOD (dead on door).

Design Problems:
1. The mounting bracket is plastic with little lips and two very tiny screws to hold the main unit it place. Once you get the mounting bracket secured to your house, a 10 year old can come along and remove the main unit by pushing up from the bottom. The plastic mounting bracket is just not strong enough to hold the main unit in place. It should either use a full on metal mount or have combination metal / plastic with metal in key areas so the main unit can not be easily removed and also use something much larger than eye glass screws for securing the main unit to the mount.
2. The MeShare APP was designed for a completely different product. It appears that Zmodo owns the APP company and is selling another product with it. The APP was obviously designed for a different product and they are just trying to cut corners by reusing the MeShare APP for this device too. An example of what I mean, the MeShare APP has a microphone, turn on switch, you click the microphone icon for the camera and the APP responds "Turn on Unit sound switch." there is no sound switch for the unit. Several times this message showed and wouldn't even go away until I shut down the APP completely.
3. Maybe I'm wrong, or this is not possible, but if the device has power and for whatever reason it is not connected to the WiFi or setup hasn't begun, or it has lost connection to the WiFi. Why does the unit stop the door chime from working as normal. It now makes this device an expensive wall hanger that won't even work the door chime anymore. Going from knowing someone is at your door with video and sound, to not knowing someone is at your door and no way for them to get a hold of you except for the ancient knock knock method is unacceptable in the 21st century.

Other Problems:

The problems below are with the unit I have, these could have been due to poor manufacturing procedures and or lack of quality control, as another reviewer said this product is manufactured in China and there is a big tag on the back of the Product proudly stating Zmodo at the top with "Made in China" at the bottom.

I'll say this when the unit was connected and working, the video images had acceptable quality, with good frame rate and the doorbell APP response was adequate when the button was pushed. If only the device worked all of the time, it would rate 4 stars, 5 stars with the design flaws fixed.
1. Getting the unit connected to WiFi is suppose to be a simple three step procedure.

a) Unit button light turns solid Green with power to it.

b) Start MeShare APP when Unit Green light starts flashing. Enter WiFi security password to start connecting

c) Light will change to Blinking Blue as the connection is being made. After the connection is established the light turns solid Blue.

In one week working on this several hours each day, I was able to get the above to happen only twice. Most of the time the Unit would be solid Green with a short blink of Blue and go back to Solid Green for a while. It would never get to the Green blinking stage so you can complete the connection process. This happened no matter how many times I tried to reset the Unit with the inset button on the bottom or by removing it from Power source and trying again.
2. The unit will not maintain WiFi connection, even with a constant strong signal at the door bell location ( -37dBm and 150 Mbps). I was only able to connect the unit to my WiFi twice. Each time the connection only lasted a few hours and then the device was reported as offline. There is no easy way to reconnect the unit without going through the whole set up again. This problem could be fixed with a Smart APP that recognizes the problem and has a built in reconnect feature, not just a screen reporting the device is offline. The MeShare APP is currently useless when this happens, because you need to start all over from the beginning.
3. When the unit was working and connected correctly. I was never able to get a notification with the motion detection system. There is a switch to turn this off or on within the MeShare APP, however this just never worked. Since the Door Bell ring was pushed to the smart phone without a problem. I can only assume the motion detection system was not working in this unit. There were other features like Scheduling times for the door bell to work, but was unable to test this feature with the short WiFi connection time I experienced.
4. As other reviews have stated, there is little to no written support for the product. It is so new, they haven't had the time to write anything up, Really?. The only thing that has been written is on Amazon questions and answers that Zmodo obviously uses as their FAQ sheet for the product. You might think this doesn't make much difference for a product that only has a two wired connection and an APP to run it and you would be right if the product worked flawlessly. However, no device always works flawlessly, and this is only an attempt to sell a product without caring for your customers. Someone in management said get this thing out there to the public so we can get paid without any other thought. Saying please contact us directly is okay if you have 24 hours support, but they do not provide that. So customers must rely on other areas for support and this information is non-existent.

The whole product roll out is something you would expect from a start up at KickStarter, not an established company like Zmodo. Their lack of concern for the written instructions, design, quality control and manufacture of the product is insulting to their customers.

In short, I would not recommend this product to anyone. As a Beta Tester, I'm done testing. I was thinking about purchasing other Zmodo products, but with the way they rolled out this one. I find my confidence in the company lacking. I will be returning this product to Amazon.

May be a great product someday. Not ready to compete against the RING doorbell.

I very much wanted this Video Doorbell to work, and when it does it works well, but it only works part time.

PROS:

Camera lens is able to be turned slightly, to adjust the viewing angle.

Set up was fast and easy

Video quality is excellent.

Video can be viewed on a computer (security monitoring)

CONS:

The App (MeShare) is unstable. Must be reset several times a day in order to maintain contact with the device.

The device disconnects from the WiFi service frequently and without notice.

There is no clue that either the App or the device has disconnected: you simply no longer receive doorbell rings or motion notices until you reset.

App (MeShare) was not specific to this doorbell, and therefore has options which are not relevant.

Good Door Camera for the Price..... update not so much
by Minion Lover (1 out of 5 stars)
August 2, 2018

We are very happy with our Doorbell. It was a bit challenging to get it installed at the proper angle since we don't have the wiring on a flat wall to install it flushto get video. Wish they would offer a shim kit that would be waterproof to help protect it from my husbands watering. Aside from that, it's very convenient. App runs smoothly, and you can share access to the device. Very convenient. Does not ring inside the house, only on your device(phone or whatever) but is outweighed by the price point (it's reasobably priced) and clear picture and sound quality. I like it! We have since purchased several other zmodo products and have not been disappointed...

Update: Broken- less than six months after purchase. Cannot be heard when trying to answer the call button- sounds like static, unintelligible.... Have been speaking with Zmoda US customer service for over 2 weeks with lots of promises of replacement under warranty, additional 230 payment to cross ship, and have received nothing. We have no working doorbell, won't answer, does not have night motion, no cameras, and out an additional 230...... this purchase and the ones that followed this one are turning into a huge waste of time and money.

It only works for 1-2 days then needs to be reset- Poor design
by g p (2 out of 5 stars)

The item is well made the small screws are a problem at the bottom and should include a small tool but makes it harder to steal i guess. TIP--My share app Must be SETup on Wifi not cell service, change cellphone to wifi after installing add the myshare app to phone, then it will find it. It took me a hour to realize this, kept getting unable to continue on my share app due to cell network, on wifi it worked to setup, then you can change back to normal cell service. It works well but should be installed with a wedge to aim more towards door or it will not show someone fully. I just used some old scrap wood to aim it then some caulk,Tip don't fully tighten small screws at bottom until you see the video output to make sure it is aimed where you want it, they are hard to get out. The phone takes about 8 secs to respond to someone at door a little slow but adequate. Chimes sometimes makes a little noise but if i repress the doorbell it stops. not sure of the cause on this, overall i like it for the money it works well at night to

Update: The camera works for a day or 2 then needs to be reset by manually holding doorbell down for 30 secs. It seems to be an unresolved issue with this item.

Do not buy, you will not be happy
by Nick Sr (1 out of 5 stars)

Do not buy! You will not have a good experience. Once again a product that over promises and doesn't even deliver the basics. I have tried the Ring doorbell and hated it (read my review if you want) but after trying this Zmodo Greet I can honestly say Ring is the one you should buy if you have to have a doorbell camera. Personally I'm done with the technology for now.

The Zmodo bracket is flimsy and doesn't allow a strong connection to the unit or the wall. Keep it plastic if you want just use a better plastic.

The camera view is zoomed all wrong, but that would be fine if you could even make out anything in the image. I posted a picture that shows how horrible.

The lag between real time and the image you see is at least 15 seconds and is at half speed so it never really catches up just gets further behind.

Very slow with lots of delays.
by Richard Graves (1 out of 5 stars)
April 20, 2018

Major problem with this device is latency. It displays video with at least a ten second delay and prompts you of a person at the door with an even longer delay. Unit is hard to install with very poor screws and a snap on cover (which houses the camera) that is near impossible get on.

Needs some updating - why offer a warranty if they WONT respond to emails or phone calls - This IS a

FIRST REVIEW -months ago- Can't adjust or limit motion detection!

Alerts every time a vehicle drives by the house!

Low volume out to door no adjustment.

GREAT PRODUCT - GREAT VIDEO - needs some updates

KEEPS GOING OFF-LINE -CUSTOMER SERVICE - Please return emails / calls -

SECOND REVIEW 11/4/16 - Still NO response NOT HAPPY - I cannot give you information on the newer style Greet but I purchased 2 of the older style Greet units, the one installed at my home only one works "Most of the time" the other unfortunately is at another location with verified great wi-fi signal and 30meg TWC internet service and almost never works. I swapped these units with each other to see if it was the Greet device or my network - its the devise. Even on a default and re-install, it will work for a day or mabe 2-3 days then its back to being off-line. Customer service email seems to be non-existent no reply. I guess I'm STUCK with these until I spend more money on another solution.

Other notable issues: When the Greet is working - cars driving down the street will set off the motion detect and alerts are sent to your mobile app - there is NO adjustment for sensitivity. NO adjustment for volume - people at your door dont hear you all the time.

Could not be Configured as per Instructions
by SJA (1 out of 5 stars)
October 20, 2015

The Zmodo unit could not be configured as per the instructions. Having a solid technical background, very strong WiFi signal and reading the simplistic instructions multiple times, I could not get the MeShare app to recognize my setup. So in fairness I don't know if this unit works at all. Reached out to the company via Email / Chat with no response. So back it goes to Amazon.

Note: After wasting about an hour on the Zmodo device, I purchased the Ring Doorbell unit from Home Depot. This device was up and running immediately...but the quality and latency of the response is just too long as most other reviewers have stated. So this device goes back as well. All these device are very appealing by description, but there are just too many factors that effect their performance. If you are someone that can deal with weak points of these devices, than this is for you. If you are someone like me that expects a high performance level, I would forgo these devices as there are many on the market..they are just not ready for prime time!

Stops working, no support
by Amazon Customer (1 out of 5 stars)
October 16, 2017

Worked great for about 10 months. Then lost connection. Have tried chat support for help and their suggestions have not fixed it. Then have tried to chat from the app and call for the past month and get no response. Called today and got a recording that my wait time was 85 minutes.

Don't waste your time or money.
