Don't waste your money, the product is crap
by Mary Harris (1 out of 5 stars)

I originally got a set of these for Christmas a couple years ago and LOVED them, I recommended them to all my friends. However after about a year & 1/2 they no longer held the charge so I decided to get another pair. Well obviously the quality has went down considerably. I wear them when I am walking my dogs early in the morning and would be able to get at least 3 days before having to charge them. The new pair I got would die 1/2 through my walk on the second day - not helpful when you are walking in the dark. However, now after 2 months they won't even hold a charge through my first walk, after about 45minutes to an hour they die. Too bad they have chosen to cheapen them as they USED to be a great product. Would not recommend them to anyone now, save your money!

These are easy to slip on / take off of your shoes ...

Get Some.

Seriously, these things keep you safe.

Pros:

Obvious safety for both yourself and others. These allow you to see where you're going to avoid uneven terrain, those inevitable pot holes. They also clearly announce you to any car, biker, etc.

These are bright! They really do shine enough light to illuminate your way whether that be at dusk / dawn or midnight.

Three light settings provided - solid bright shine, solid even brighter shine, and blink.

Three position settings provided - snap them to point low, medium, or high - all facing your path forward.

Rechargeable - no dealing with batteries. And hey, split charging cable is provided.

These are easy to slip on / take off of your shoes (pro tip - harder if your laces are too loose) and they are sturdy. You never notice they're even there unless you turn them on.

The fact that these lights go on your shoes and point forward. You already put your shoes on and so these being attached just make it easier to get up and go. There is no adjusting needed, no straps to mess with that get tangled or cause your forehead to breakout.

Cons:

Battery life. While the product quotes 4 hours, I charge mine after every run else they die on the next (my normal runs are 45min - 1hr). I do always use mine on the solid brightest setting. Side note, when the batteries are running out, the lights do not start to dim (imo a good thing) but instead the red light on the side will blink... something you cannot easily (if at all) observe while running with them on.

Charging ports are on the underside. Makes it a bit awkward to get them plugged in if you want to leave them on your shoes. However, I believe this helps with the water resistant design - which I'd take over a smoother charge plugin. Probably makes it look 'slicker' too if you care.

A bit pricey in my opinion (though considering pro list and other options out there, worth it. Enough that I also purchased a second pair for the spouse).

A must have if you run in the dark hours of the day!
by Dammitt Emmitt (5 out of 5 stars)

Me and a few girlfriends run often in the predawn hours of the morning. Because side walks in our area aren't in the best of shape, we opt to run in the road/streets because there isn't a whole lot of traffic at this hour, and the surface is more consistent than the sidewalks. These lights are EXCELLENT at making us visible to the little bit of traffic we encounter. In just 1 weeks use, I've noticed that drivers are noticing us MUCH sooner and giving us a very respectable space along side the road with them. As for enhanced visibility of the surface ahead of me (pothole's and general debris) they have been a great help in this matter as well. One of the most difficult thing about seeing where you are going in the dark is that when on coming traffic's headlights hit you, it's impossible to see the road surface in front of you. These lights do an amazing job at allowing me to see the pavement directly in front of me even during this situation. They are not noticeable to what I feel when I run. They are steady, and do not flop around. If you run in the dark... these are a must have! Safety is the number one benefit of these lights. I feel safer with them on, and I'm sure drivers appreciate the heads up that something/someone is a head.

I love, love

Edit: Originally, this was a three star review, and if you want to read the whole thing, you can see the reason why.

To update, day before yesterday I noticed that one of my second pair had a broken clip. This had happened despite the fact that I now handle these things with elaborate care. I contacted the company, and they did two very spiffy things: they put a set of replacement clips in the mail to me, and they gave me some guidance about how to put them on to reduce the odds of breakage.

The biggest weakness of this doohickey is the fact that the clips break easily, but they're aware of it. And now that I see that replacement clips are only a few dollars, I'm willing to replace them myself if it happens again. I'm happy enough with how these work, and with how the company handled my discontent, that I'm a confirmed customer for the foreseeable future.

Original review below:

My feeling about these is the definition of "ambivalent," so if you've never been sure what that word means, read on.

I love, love, love these. Just ordered my second set. But I won't order a third if it becomes necessary. Let me explain.

The clip that holds these to your shoelaces has two prongs. The prongs are made of plastic. The plastic is not strong enough. Do you hear me, people who make these? The prongs are not strong enough. I'd had my first pair for just three or four days when one of the prongs broke off. It didn't make the light unusable, because the clip held it reasonably well with just the one prong (or so I thought until this morning), but it did make me handle them more delicately when I attached them to my shoelaces.

Didn't help, or not entirely. A few months later, one prong broke off the other light. But, as I said, they hold reasonably well with one prong, so I kept using them both.

But then, this morning, one of the lights simply fell off my shoe altogether, leaving behind the one prong still threaded into my shoelaces. Apparently the one prong isn't strong enough to hold them on, or at least not forever.

I bought these in December, and I got eight months' use out of them. And I absolutely passionately love them. I've read about the inventor getting the idea after tripping in a pothole -- I have a similar story, as I ran off a bike path and straight into a blackberry bramble. The lights have made it very clear where the edge of the path is when I venture into areas that aren't well lit. They do exactly what I want them to do, and I plan to handle this next pair like a museum curator handles ancient relics.

But please, please, please, find stronger materials for the clip! I'll pay extra, I swear!

Great until they break right at the 90 days and are out of the company's return policy

Great concept, but not worth the price. One of the red clips broke from normal use while running. The company would not replace it because it had been just past the 90 day return policy. I would not buy this product again. For the high price tag, the product should be more durable and last longer than 90 days or should have a life time warranty.

Meh, not that great.

Got these after I fell down from running really early in the morning in the dark. The first time I used these I was really excited. I'm not a marathoner by any means I run about an hour every other day. I charged them before my first use. My run was exactly 59 minutes they were easy to install and worked great. Today was the second time that I used them, big disappointment. I switched my laces out to elastic laces, so I guess the grip doesn't have a firm placement. As I was running the right light flew off my tennis shoe. I had to run back when I noticed about a quarter-mile when I looked down and noticed that it was no longer on my shoe. I had to run back and retrace my steps and luckily I found it laying. I turned it off and put it in my pocket and proceeded to run with only one light but then another 15 minutes into my run the battery went dead. I stopped and checked the second one and as soon as I powered it on that battery went dead as well! I've only used these twice less than 2 hours and the battery has drained on both pieces! I do not recommend these, I wish they would work and stay on and stay lit but unfortunately they do not. I may have to resort back to wearing a headlamp, very disappointed. I literally put sewing string on them to secure them to my laces to see if this will help with tomorrow's run I shouldn't have to do this. I'd skip on purchasing these.

You need these lights if you EVER run in the dark
by hattycakes (5 out of 5 stars)

These magical little lights have made a WORLD of difference for my dark and early runs. I used to trudge forth cursing the damned moon for being so dim, the clouds for blocking the dim moon and the sun for being lazy and not joining me for my 530 am runs on a dark, street light free, desolate, isolated trail I run on. Now I can run carefree, knowing I will see whatever stone, stick or frog is in my path. No more blindly waving my arms in the moonlight when I feel something brush my face. Now I can see the spider or branch and panic while bathed in glorious light. They hold their charge for hours and I don't have to plug them in for days. Consistent bright light, I cannot feel them on my shoes, they are virtually weightless and easy to install. No annoying rattling noises just trouble-free clear white light. They even have a little red light on the side to serve as tail lights in case you ever run in the road. You can see me coming for a mile and more importantly I can see what's ahead on the trail.

Broke within 6 months
by BurleyMan (1 out of 5 stars)
April 20, 2018

When functioning, the lights were great for early morning runs. However, one light broke within 6 months. I contacted the company for a replacement, but was informed they have a 90 day warranty so a replacement would not be available. Within a week of the first light breaking, the second light stopped working.

At $60, I would expect the lights to perform better. I think that both lights breaking within 6 months a sign of poor build quality. I know several other local runners whom have had similar issues with these lights. Save your money and look for another option.

These were great and I'll use them on all my runs this ...

I bought these to wear for my Ragnar Trail relay. I had a 3-1/2 run on technical trails in the dark and was paranoid about not being able to see well enough to avoid hurting myself. These were great and I'll use them on all my runs this fall and winter after the sun goes down. Paired with the Nathan fire catcher 300 runner's flashlight I saw very, very well in the pitch dark woods.

1 light stopped working after 2 days
by Mike (2 out of 5 stars)

I purchased these running shoe lights for my wife since she runs in the morning when it's still dark. She saw these on a popular TV show and wanted a pair so I ordered them for her.

They arrived on a Sunday and she couldn't wait to try them out. Monday morning, she left the house for a 3 mile run. She returned and said she really liked them. They lit the ground in front of her very well and made a big difference in her run.

Tuesday morning, again, she left for a 3 mile morning run while it was dark outside. She returned and couldn't get one of the lights to turn off. I tried to turn it off myself and it wouldn't, kept clicking the switch but the light stayed on. Not wanting to run the battery down, I plugged in the USB charging cable. The light went off so I thought OK, that took care of the problem. I unplugged the charging cable and tried to turn the light back on....click...click....click....nothing. So I put it back on the charger thinking it may need a full charge....still nothing.

After 2 days and a total of 6 miles one of the lights won't work. I sent them back for a refund. Since she liked them so much, I ordered a new set which should be here in a few days. I'll update my review again after that set arrives. I'm hoping we have better luck with the new set.
