Looks great mounted to a wall
by ThatGuyinQueensNY (5 out of 5 stars)

My cat loves her Katris shapes. I hung all 5 pieces on the wall creating a little staircase for her. She was thrilled when she was able to get up high for the first time. Very sturdy corrugated cardboard when properly installed creates a fun environment for kitty to tire herself out. I just wish the set of 5 shapes came with proper hanging brackets like the ones that are sold with other Katris sets.

Get this right meow!

Excellent product! My cats love Katris and I love it even more due to its versatility. The only reason I am rating Katris at four stars is because of the price. It is on the expensive side. It is a wicked cool product. Cool things are always so expensive!

Great Idea, Great Product. Still Cardboard at a High Price
by Kat (4 out of 5 stars)
May 24, 2015

I like it but for the price, I would rather have wood than corrugated cardboard. That said, I put a little foam rug on it and my handicapped cat (missing a rear foot) spends a lot of time sleeping on top of this and playing with the other cat through all of the little windows in the middle. It's nice to see cat furniture where she feels safe. We play a game where I hide treats all over the little shelves and she gets a little exercise climbing and finding them. Plus, since I have 5 blocks, I can rearrange them if I get bored and the corrugated cardboard weighs little and easy to move. For the price, I'm not sure I would buy it again but it is a fun novelty.

I was impressed by the packaging. The box came damaged with a big hole on the outside. No noticeable damage to any of the actual pieces though and since it was protected by cardboard, everything is recyclable except the catnip bags. The catnip bags are secured very tightly onto the cardboard wrapping of each piece (on the inside of the piece), along with the plastic fasteners. I had a hard time opening the catnip bags without getting it everywhere.

Not Stable For the Price
by M. Vaughan (3 out of 5 stars)

I bought this because one of my cats is a cardboard junkie. I have many cardboard lounges that are in the $50 range, and if these were also as wide (10-inches instead of 8-inches), I would have given them a 5-star review. Those extra two inches really make the difference in stability--and for twice the cost of an average cat tower, it should be stable. Unless you plan to lay this out low, you HAVE to buttress it against something. Notice in the photo, it's against a wall for a reason. If it weren't against that wall, it would fall over. I've put together a design that has footing on both sides, but it still wobbles, so we keep it close to the bed. I doubt I'll keep spending $50/per piece to make this more stable, as my cat likes to go into other rooms in the house, and I don't fancy making a $500 cat tower for it to use 1 hour a day.

Not As Good As Hoped
by Risa Brannon (3 out of 5 stars)

We were excited at first when we saw this product on line. My husband just can't stand the traditional cat trees aesthetically, so he wanted something that looked more like cool bookshelves. We then realized we preferred not to spend $250. on a cardboard structure that the cats would probably tear up in time, so we tried to find the wood structures on line, but for some reason, they were just nowhere to be found, so we settled for the cardboard. Once we got it home, the first thing we noticed was the color. It is not blond, like the one in the picture. It is a dark brown. It kind of reminds me of concrete blocks - Not as attractive as we imagined, and we had to find an inconspicuous place for it. Secondly, we found that you do have to have it up against a wall for stability. (It is easy to assemble, and there are lots of possible configurations - a plus.) We sprinkled the included catnip on the shelves and waited. The kitties did come over, mildly curious, but quickly lost interest. Now the only way to get them interested is to put treats on them. And one of our cats is a born climber, too (which is why we bought it in the first place.) So I don't know. I guess we'll keep it and hope that at some point they'll develop an interest. It would be hard to send back. (Huge package with lots and lots of packing.) (Sigh)

I like it better than the cats
by Julia D (4 out of 5 stars)

I really like the idea, but it does have some flaws. As other reviewers have mentioned, it needs to be against a wall or something to help it stay stable. The thing falls over if there is no added support once a cat gets on it. I was also disappointed to find out once I unpacked it is that the pieces are not very deep. Cats can sit on the pieces, but not really lie flat. Also, the only piece a cat can sit or lounge is the "O" shape. All of the other shapes are too short. My cats will only climb on the outside and will not go in-between because the pieces are narrow. I want to try to have a double width, but the fasteners aren't long enough. Finally, for cardboard, this is expensive. Right now, I like it more than my 2 cats.

All 10 clips broke
by Andrew Thomas (2 out of 5 stars)
November 25, 2017

All 10 clips broke within 3 days! Three broke during assembly and the remaining seven slowly broke without my cat even getting on the blocks. The blocks look great and are sturdy. I am sure my cat will love them once she warms up to them but the clips are cheap, cheap, cheap. I just bought heavy duty Velcro to secure them together and can already tell the entire structure is more stable. If you like the blocks and are willing to buy additional supplies to secure them, then go for it. If not, pass.

Durable Cardboard and Self-Annihilating Clips
by rride (3 out of 5 stars)
August 1, 2017

I assembled the product today and 4 clips have already self-destroyed. It looks like the product is not really as configurable as advertised or the clips are more narrow than walls of blocks they hold together. Quality of the packaging and cardboards turned out to be much higher than of the clips.

Expensive, neat design. BYO Zip ties.
by Jayne Doe (3 out of 5 stars)
March 21, 2018

Neat product. It allows you to get cat furniture in your house without having beige carpeting everywhere. The modular design allows you to set up the blocks to match the capabilities of your space. The cats love playing on it, and laying on it. Each shape comes with it's own bag of catnip. I didn't need the catnip to make my cats like the blocks, but I applied anyway to make them love the blocks.

The blocks are really neat, and really sturdy. I wish it wasn't as expensive as it is (Seriously, $200 for carboard?!), but I couldn't find anything else like it on the market.

The only downside other than cost is that the plastic clips are basically useless. Within one hour of application there were 2 (of the provided 10) clips that were broken. Within a day, half of the clips were broken. Don't think it's a size issue of the clips, but rather a material issue. It's made of cheap plastic, and at the bends there's not enough thickness of the clips to prevent snapping. Design choices could remedy this (eg use better plastic, use enamel covered metal, or up plastic thickness), but that increases cost.

You can, of course, purchase additional clips on the manufacturer's website... for $3 a clip. Plus shipping and handling. Did I forget to mention that within 24 hours 50% of the clips broke?

I reached out to the company (Papercut Labs) via their webpage asking for replacements. Did not receive an answer.

In the end, since we wanted to have some assurances that the cats would be playing safely on this, we invested in zip ties, which seem to do the trick well enough. Just make sure to bend the ties at each of the corners to prevent them from digging into the cardboard and you should be fine. Also trimming the zip ties after application helps it to look better.

Watch out -- the openings are too small for large cats
by Beth Ziesenis (3 out of 5 stars)

The quality of the blocks is fine... it's the size that's not impressive. I was thinking that my guys could sleep inside and on the boxes, but they're too big for anything but the big square and the top of the configuration. The other openings are way too small.
