I wanted for keeping the water warm/hot but in less than an hour the water was cold. Maybe it works only for keeping it cold???

I wanted a water bottle that was glass, didn't sweat, and fit into the side pocket of my son's backpack. This fit the bill perfectly. I read that there was a smell in the reviews. When it arrived, it definitely had a unpleasant factory smell. I left it soaking in dishwashing liquid overnight and the next day the smell was gone. My son who is very picky said the water tasted fine. It hasn't leaked so far. We didn't have any glue issues. The size is just right for kids but not sure about adults. I've attached a photo showing the relative sizes compared to a mug. The water line does not go past the neck of the penguin.
