Rival is a gastronomic experience and a new way of adding salt to food. Natural Himalayan salt, the purest mineral salt, is grated onto the dish with an 18/8 stainless steel grater. The salt and rasp become the centrepiece of the dining table when placed in the accompanying beech wood stand. Jens Scan ringer, founder, discovered this method of salt grating at a Japanese restaurant in China. He designed the product to represent a fusion between Scandinavian and Japanese design.

This is a fun and functional conversation piece at dinner parties, which is what I purchased it for. Looks attractive on the table. I don't own the smaller size to compare it to, but I can't imagine trying to grate the salt on anything smaller than the grater that comes in this "large" set. One friend loved it so much (and loves salt in general, LOL) that I bought a second one for him as a gift.

A wonderful way to add salt flavor to your foods both while cooking and at the table. The rock of salt is small so I don't know how practical this is for regular use.
