Exactly what I expected
by NordicPyro (5 out of 5 stars)

It's quite heavy and large, about the size of a cup. There are scratches on the cylinder which I believe is made to give it a worn feel which I like. It's able to hold my pens and some other small objects perfectly fine. I suppose if there is one complaint I'd have, it would be that the bottom is entirely flat metal. Guess it won't matter since it'll just be stationary, but I'd be careful of moving it on some surfaces where it could scratch. Otherwise, exactly what I expected, very sturdy, and I doubt it'd fall into pieces for no reason. Will last a lifetime.

A desktop gem.
by LWW (5 out of 5 stars)

This is rather large, essentially identical to a standard sized coffee cup in its footprint. To me that is great because it will hold large pens,SHARPIE markers, scissors, letter openers and many other desk widgets. Up to six in all. It also has some decent weight so it won't tip easily. The finish and build quality is quite good. It has a slight faux patina. I like it, but be aware that it exists. It is made to resemble the cylinder in a rather large revolver, but loaded with pens that illusion is far less so if you are anti gun this shouldn't bother you too much. I have a rather large collection of quasi exotic WATERMAN/CROSS/MONT BLANC fountain pens, roller balls, mechanical pencils and ball points and two of these allows me to keep all my favorites close at hand and to have immediate access to many ink colors. I gave this 5 stars, but wish I could do 4.5. The only issue that I have with it is the bare metal bottom. Having a mahogany desk I don't like things which might scratch. For this reason I keep a package of little rubber stick on feet from LOWES in a desk drawer so it is an easy and inexpensive fix ... but a tiny piece of factory felt would also have been nice.

it's a perfect weight to be a good paperweight
by David Phillips (5 out of 5 stars)

This pen holder is a quality accessory at a very modest price. It's heavy aluminum die-cast, perfect as a paperweight. Though it doesn't have the realism of the holes going completely through the bottom end like some of the competitive units, that feature would not be very practical, and would render it useless as a good paperweight. The holes are large enough to hold a typical pair of office scissors and a large Sharpie marker (the largest cylindrical one with a pocket clip). I like the limitation of individual holes, as it keeps the pens and scissors separated, upright, and looking neater.

It is big, heavy, and appears just as ...

It is big, heavy, and appears just as many other reviewers who have posted pictures. 5 Stars despite the use of what appears to be recycled aluminum. However, one thing that isn't really mentioned is the fact that the edges of the holes are sharp! They aren't polished or even lightly sanded...Two stars off for those who are planning to put expensive pens in them. Those sharp edged will definitely scratch plastic, and ruin the polish on metal pens.

Looked Used & Abused
by PKW (1 out of 5 stars)

I purchased this item as a gift for a family member who is graduating from the Police Academy. I was going to have it engraved.

It arrived loose in an Amazon box, no padding, no paperwork.

When I opened it up I was disappointed to see that it looked used. There were numerous small scratches, dents, and pits on every side. On the top, there was a significant amount of corrosion.

This is not at all what I expected, and it is certainly not suitable as a gift.

I've returned it for a replacement in the hope that mine was was an infrequent error.

I'll update this when I receive the replacement.

Pencil and Pen not included!
by Rock Edge (5 out of 5 stars)

Super cool gift idea for that gun friend or relative of yours. It's got some heft to it and realistic tones (weighs 1 pound). If they read their reviews for feedback I would only say that their box is kinda cheesy. Cool gift like this could come in a nicer presentation to match the impressive product, but they could charge more so maybe I'll shaddup. The box has fake bullet wholes in it and military like font. Probably others like that.

Final note, as it is stated on the side of the box: Pencil and Pen not included!

Its heavy weight is a plus, as it won't tip over even if storing tools in it
by D. Watson (5 out of 5 stars)

Its heavy weight is a plus, as it won't tip over even if storing tools in it.

I used to store tools (screwdrivers, letter openers, and scissors) in a pencil holder, but the pencil holder kept tipping over all the time, so now I store all those tools in this, and it hasn't tipped over yet!

The "chambers" (holes) in the "cylinder" are big enough to store two pencils or stick pens in each hole, so if you're using it for pencils (rather than tools), you can store 12 pencils or stick pens in it (or six thicker pens). The holes are also big enough for highlighters and markers.

The only negative is a minor quibble, so I'm still giving it 5 stars:

Be careful not to insert a highlighter or marker with the tip down, as the cover of the highlighter or marker can sometimes get stuck in the "cylinder" hole or "chamber."

Good but not Perfect
by Richard H. Wood (4 out of 5 stars)

Mine is a reasonably clean die casting with smooth walls to the interiors of the six holes. Top edges of the holes were sharp so I smoothed them using a tapered cylinder grinding wheel mounted in a cordless drill-driver. I also added some felt to the bottom of the cylinder, making it more table top friendly. IMO both changes should be done by the manufacturer. The holes measure 19.45mm or .765" in diameter and are 84.6mm or 3.3" deep. The cylinder itself is 71mm or 2.79" in diameter and 89mm or 3.5" high so it is big. A 50 BMG cartridge case based pen needs to go in point or bullet end down as the base of the 50 BMG case is too large to fit the holes. All in all a fun way to hold six pens and/or pencils.

Truly a Conversation Starter
by IvanaYvonne (4 out of 5 stars)
May 27, 2018

Purchased for my husband's new desk at work. Extremely weighty so it doesn't move around. Really high quality! So many of his coworkers asked where they could buy one :) It's truly a conversation starter. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that the bottom, while smooth, is unprotected and there's a chance of scratching as heavy as it is and as many people want to handle it. I will be purchasing more for gifts next Christmas.

Cool piece
by Pragmatic Knee (5 out of 5 stars)
April 17, 2014

Looks like the photo in the Amazon page. Not too shiny and doesn't look like it was just slid out of a mold, it has a slightly worn look like you would expect on a firearm. Really does look like a cylinder for what would be a huge revolver. The pen openings are approximately 3/4 inch in diameter and easily accept all my pens. It's a heavy piece and very solid.

Some times novelty pieces are a let down when you open the box but I was really impressed with this.
