From 4 Stars to 1: It won't stay connected! Noisy. Needs Echo integration.
by D Calvin (1 out of 5 stars)

Bought one of these from Amazon for a hard to reach switch and was very happy the first few days, so ordered another. It's noisy, but that's OK for this. Very easy to set up and use. The big missing piece is echo integration. Last year the company announced partnerships with both yonomi and Logitech Harmony, and either of those would have given echo integration, but they don't seem to be ready yet. If they had a partnership that delivered echo control, I would have given it five stars.

And then it started losing connection for several hours every day.

Set up the second one, the same thing. It just goes off-line for several hours, then comes back on its own later. I can stand 3 feet away from it with my phone and the phone will say it can't find it. My other Bluetooth devices, including Echo and headphones, don't have this problem.
I put in brand-new batteries, it was better for one day, then started losing connection again. I really like these, but if I can't turn the switch on and off from my phone, it's useless to me. I'm waiting to hear from support, but it looks like I'll be sending these back.

If anybody knows a trick for getting these to stay connected other than putting in new batteries every day, please let me know. I would love to find a way to make them work.

Update: two weeks later, I never heard back from their support after the initial "Your message was received." Both switches continued to lose connection every day. I ended up returning them. Too bad, because I really liked the idea, but the connection problems made them useless.

The timer worked perfect the first day

I ordered this product to use as a timer while I was on vacation. The timer worked perfect the first day, but didn't turn on the rest of the week. I emailed the company multiple times and got nothing back.

Range claims to be 150 ft, but often doesn't work at 30 ft. If you change the battery, you have to delete the old device and re-pair it. Pairing in general is poor. I purchase 4 of these switches based on the claim it works with Alexa, but it doesn't. An inquiry reveals they are close and the code has all been written, just waiting on final approval from Amazon (although Amazon says they are already compatible - shame on you Amazon.). Back to pairing....on all 4 switches, none of them paired by pressing and/or holding the center button. They all paired using the the "find the closest device" method.

Initially, I could sit in the living room and turn on and off the lights, but by the end of the second day, the phone app would say it shut off/on, but it didn't. My couch is 20 ft from the device and there are no walls in between.

In short, this is a great idea, poorly executed. They should go back to the drawing board and look at a new design.

Update: The app often tells you to update the firmware, but even with fresh batteries and putting my phone literally in contact with the device, the update fails with consistently. Strongly recommend you consider other smart home devices.

Great idea, poorly implemented.

Very unreliable device. I bought four of these and instead of fighting them I should have returned them. All four have lost/forgotten their program and needed to be re-paired with my cell phones and re-programmed. The programming once completed is stored in the switchmate only and forgotten by the Android Note 4 that I programmed them with. While programming, the device does allow "Sunset" or "Sunrise" as a time but once chosen, the devices software does not continue to re-calculate Sunrise and Sunset but freezes the time at Sunset / Sunrise on the day you programmed it. How dumb is that!

Changing batteries requires re-programing and if you have more thant one device that is programmed/paired then you need to re=pair with each device.

Easy to install but the Bluetooth function does not work ...

Easy to install but the Bluetooth function does not work well. Phone has to be shut down and restarted to get it to function. Will probably send it back if I can't get through this issue. Would have rather had a small remote with it,

This worked for a couple of days. It stopped, so I tried changing the batteries... now I can not even discover it with my phone.

Don't bother

Nope. Just like several others it worked for 2 weeks and now says it is busy. It still works nicely as a tap switch but no timer, no remote, no real point to it. Waste of money.

So far, not good news

I spent two hours last night after work trying to get this thing to connect to my Bluetooth. The app couldn't find this device. I tried all the suggestions for rebooting (i.e. cell phone, batteries, Bluetooth, watched videos, etc.) and still can't connect. I have tried it at four different light switches throughout the house. I will try a few more times over the weekend for good measure before returning it. I have a Samsung s7 and have never had a problem connecting devices to it until I received this item. If I am able to connect soon, I will submit another review.

Still have not been able to get these things to work. Also, if you buy these and they do not work, you can't return them. I tried to start a return with Amazon and was informed this item is not eligible for return. Guess I am stuck with these defective devices.

VERY DIFFICULT TO RETURN. AND, SADLY, YOU WILL PROBABLY WANT TO RETURN IT.

I didn't expect a lot from this device. I just wanted something to turn off my kitchen light in the morning because the light is not by the door and I find it annoying to have to navigate the room in the dark at 5:30 am. :) So, I was not worried about the timer function working (only sometimes), it being noisy (very), or that it does not work with Echo or Harmony (I have both, and it doesn't). But very often it does not even work with your phone! On multiple occasions in the one week that I have had it, I have been standing directly in front of the switch and my phone could not find it. Also, for some mysterious reason in can consistently turn my light on, but about 50% of the time, it can't turn my light off. Even when I hit the manual switch.

So, my fellow amazonians, do yourself a favor and buy a slightly more expensive, slightly more diy version. Especially, as you can't just mail it back when you realize how useless it is. On the bright, side, after dealing with this thing, using the original switch is a real pleasure!
