The Bodum Double Wall Pour Over beats Chemex. Here is why...by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)
September 12, 2017
My wife and I have used almost every coffee and espresso making method under the sun and Bodum's Double-Wall Pour Over is by far our favorite for "regular" coffee. Non-paper filters like a french press taste amazing but often leave a bit of grit in the cup. Chemex arguably tastes even better without the extra grit, but they are expensive, require special paper filters, and don't keep 2nd and 3rd cups of coffee warm for you. Enter Bodum's double-wall pour over. It costs about the same as a Chemex, but the double-wall keeps your extra cups of coffee hot for MUCH longer. I know what you are thinking: "Doesn't it use a metal filter instead of the paper one?" Ah, yes, but here is a secret: you can use a regular, conical paper filter (like Melitta #4, which you can find inexpensively in almost any grocery store) inside the metal filter and coffee is identical to that made in a Chemex. Seriously, you cannot tell a difference. Plus, if you happen to run out of paper filters, you can always just use the metal filter by itself.
Additional tips:
-If you are going to drink all the coffee immediately after it's made, you can get the single-walled Bodums for $20ish that taste the same.
-When you put your conical paper filter in the metal filter, rinse it out with water prior to putting coffee in it to wash out the slight paper taste and help the paper filter cling to the side of the metal filter.
Has a cheaper filter than the ones shown in the photos.

I bought this from Target about 1.5 years ago. (Broke it recently.) It had a very fine, sturdy gold filter. The one I received from Amazon has a cheap, mesh filter that's already a little bent out of shape.
The ones in the Amazon photos appear to have the better filter( in silver rather than gold). Don't know why I got a junky one.
Good Way to make coffee

To make proper pour-over coffee, there's all kinds of fancy equipment out there to filter your 137oz (or whatever) of water, heat it exactly to 204 F, pour it slowly in magical circles over 26oz of organic locally roasted fair trade coffee ground by a burr grinder that costs more than your house, etc.
I have none of that, but I do have this thing, and I have one of those whirring spinning grinders (you know, the ones that, in the quest for pebbles, you get boulders and powder). And I have a bag of whatever coffee beans I got at the grocery store last week. And I have a stove and a sauce pan that makes a mean batch of hot water. And I pour about half a pan of not-boiling-anymore water over 'some' coffee grounds... and you know, this thing makes some good coffee. It's like french press, without all the sediment (mind you, I use a paper filter too, which helps filter out the unpleasantries).
As for the product itself, I mean there's not much to say. Big glass thing, plasticy-thing that wraps around it so you don't burn yourself while trying to pour it, and it comes with a permanent filter and coffee measuring spoon, so you can inaccurately measure your coffee beans or grounds. Working as designed.
Pretty to look at, but not very functional

My Bodum french press had broken, I dropped it, and I needed a new one. This was an Amazon prime day deal so i brought it. It's a beautiful design, however it's awkward to hold and pour. The plastic and rubber part are hard to secure as well, if you have arthritis or hand issues you will have problems getting that on and off properly. It's annoying to pour too, no spills or anything like that, just very clunky and wide where you're suppose to grip. It's functional, for sure, just wouldn't re-buy this particular model. I have many Bodum items, from coffee to tea and I have to say this is my least favorite. I'd pass if I were you.
LOVE! Perfect cup of coffee...finally.

I love this thing! It's that simple. I've been seeking that perfect (for me) cup of morning coffee for a while after being told that I have to limit myself to 2 cups a day (reflux!). I wasn't entirely happy with my Keurig and when it finally broke, I went on the hunt. I've ordered a slew of things from Amazon and finally....finally...I've found perfection! It turns out that this pour over method brings out flavors largely lacking by standard drip coffee makers and hidden by bitterness in press coffee.
The deal was sealed when I tested this year's Christmas Blend from Starbucks in a french press, drip coffee maker, percolator, and this. The difference was night and day! So much flavor and so little bitterness.
This is economical to buy, easy to care for, and it works splendidly. A great purchase if you're seeking a rich cup of morning joe without the bitterness. A couple of tips: This is too tall for my top dishwasher rack and I have a pretty tall one, so hand-washing is a must. Also, because of the glass, the coffee doesn't stay warm inside for very long. I drape a clean dish towel around the bottom to keep it warmer while I drink the first cup.
A fresh start

I bought this because my Chemex (2 cup, their smallest and about the same capacity as this) broke after a little slip while washing it in the sink.
I had found that the Chemex was, despite its nice wood 'neck' piece, quite awkward to hold without touching the very hot glass. So I thought I'd give the Bodum a try, and I'm so happy I did.
The metal mesh filter is so easy to use and clean
The cork neck (with leather tassle) is very ergonomic and comfortable
It makes a great cup of coffee*
It is very attractive
Environmentally friendly (no filters to throw out... and use the grinds for composting)
*Note: It is really only good for one person or maybe two if you use really small mugs.
Hope this helps!
Bought for Coffee, Using it for Cocktails, Blooming Teas, and More!

I've been eyeing this style of coffee maker for a long time. I had been using a single drip over a coffee cup for a while and it got to be a hassle to keep making coffee by the cup (I drink a lot of coffee!). I got this on Prime day and I've been using it nearly every day since! It's elegant looking and holds enough coffee that I only have to make one full one a day. I have a sensitive throat so I do use paper cone filters in it in addition to the maker's metal filter. There are a couple down sides. One is that it is glass, so I have to be careful with it. Two is that when it is filled, the "corset" around the neck doesn't go down far enough onto the bottom where the coffee is, so the glass gets hot and the pinky side of your hand can get hot trying to pour the coffee. Three is that the only insulation is the "corset" around the neck, so there is nothing insulating the Bottom that has the coffee. That means it cools off fairly quickly. I knit, so it was easy for me to make a "cozy" or cover for it that helps to keep my coffee warm. This is so elegant looking, I use it for my blooming teas and for cocktails when I have friends over. I'm thinking of getting another for myself, and maybe a couple for gifts. 5 stars!
Good not great

It works great as expected. I prefer to use a disposable paper filter instead because it makes clean up even easier. I use the #4 Melitta cone filters.
Some things I don't like are that it feels very light and flimsy. The glass is really thin and because of the "fluid dynamics" it can get heavy on the bottom causing it to bump my sink so I have to be very careful when washing it. Also when washing it, My sponge doesn't reach the bottom so I'll need to get one of those long detail sponges to soap the very bottom.
Another thing I don't like is that it does not fit a lot of coffee. By my estimate it can make about three medium sized mugs at most. A little under half way is enough for one mug. It's just fine for two people but you may want to use smaller cups, perhaps tea cups, when serving a group of people.
Also, the coffee gets cold fast!
I know that's a lot of complaints, it's still a good product.
Great Pour Over Maker..

I know that this is probably one of the trendiest ways to make coffee nowadays.
But truth be told, when I was a little girl my father had a very similar coffee maker.
that he would set up first thing in the morning and after dinner.
I loved the ritual of watching him make coffee the pour over way.
When April came and I was looking for birthday gift ideas, I wanted something that I would get use out of, and that was not very expensive .
So I thought about my coffee habit. I do not drink a lot of coffee, but I love coffee .
From my keurig, French press, regular drip maker, etc. I thought this would be a good addition to my coffee family.
There is a much pricier, well-known brand, very similar in look, and style, to this one.
Until I knew what I wanted I was not willing to invest, just yet.
I chose this one because of the price, and the look, and the reviews.
Now that I have had it for a few months, I don't see any reason to get anything else.
It's easy to clean, for me.
One thing to keep in mind, is to rinse it immediately after you're done using it.
I like that the cork is 100% removable to make cleaning a breeze
A little bit of hot water, white vinegar, and a soft brush , and it's as good as new.
This item comes with a measuring spoon, and a reusable filter, which I appreciated.
I tried the paper filters that came with this package -just to see if there was a difference in taste/quality, and quite honestly my guests and I did not notice a difference, to justify using only paper filters.
But then again, I am a newbie to this game,
So, I might be missing some slight nuances of flavor, or coloring, or what have you.
Overall, this pour over maker is a thorough complete package.
If you are on the fence about switching over to the "pour over life" , looking for a pour over maker of your very own, a gift, etc., I don't see how you could go wrong with this specific item.
Lousy Coffee Maker

Possibly the worst pour over ever. Cannot get it to make good coffee. This thing in no way can replace the French Press.
