Perfect for Apple Health
by XO (5 out of 5 stars)

This was the only sleep hardware product (I found) that works directly with Apple Health. It was easy to install (download the App and plug in the product). The beddit does not come with or have a users manual, including a pdf - very surprising. Fortunately, they have videos on Vimeo which provide some helpful tips. I've been using it now for 3 weeks. The only issue was when I forgot to turn the bluetooth on my iPhone. Also, you won't get statistics on the first night. The product requires 2 nights worth of data. The reason I gave 5-stars were because (1) ease of use (2) works with Apple Health and (3) provides additional statistics beyond Apple Health. Since I began using the beddit, I've been much more disciplined about getting the right amount of sleep. The only other thing I noticed was that the beddit alarm is separate from the iPhone alarm. For example, I set the beddit and iPhone alarms to match. I turned off the iPhone alarm, but the beddit alarm went off the next morning. It will be interesting to see where how the beddit evolves. Love the product.

I'm not aware of a better sleep tracker on the market

I've tried the apps on your phone that you leave on the mattress, and this works better. I'll admit it isn't flawless, but it is very well thought out and executed. Probably the best feature is the automatic start... which is not perfect, but its is so much better than relying on me to turn the device on and off. Basically you stick the sensor under your top sheet (takes 2 seconds), and then it knows when you are laying on it. It also measures your heart rate and respiratory rate. They claim in a new firmware update that it will also measure temperature and humidity, but that firmware update hasn't rolled out yet.

tl;dr easy and pretty accurate. probably the best on the market

Does what it says on the box

A pretty good tracker. The most accurate sleep tracking product I've used so far which tracks movement, sound and heart. The smart alarm wakes you up at the right time in the morning although I've found some issues with the app where my smart alarm doesn't go off which annoys me quite a bit. I found the fix is to check your alarm sound and turn the volume all the way up. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone who has trouble sleeping well. How you wake up affects your day quite significantly.

Hardware great, set up super easy, not enough data displayed in the App to be useful. Could be a 5 s

I bought the sleep tracker from the Beddit website and received it a few days before the Oct 4th release date.

I have used it now for a good week and I'm impressed with the overall capability of the hardware. It was super easy to set up (i just put it under the mattress pad and set up the bluetooth connection on the iPhone. took all in all 5 min). The sensor strip is not noticeable. I manually tell the iPhone app that I'm going to sleep and that I'm awake. This works flawlessly. I did not use the smart feature that detects automatically when you go to bed.

The sleep tracker precisely detects breathing, movements, heartbeat, when I leave the bed, temperature and humidity. The microphone of the iPhone is used to detect snoring. I almost never snore but the tracker detected some snoring one night so that also works.

The big letdown is the software (using the newest version). Specifically the information the app gives you. Instead of giving you a curve for each parameter (movement, breathing, heart rate, temperature, humidity) you get a sleep score graph for the night and the heart rate. The sleep score works well and the heart rate is accurate but what about the other info? Snoring times are at least indicated as dots the sleep score graph. But for breathing rate you get only the average. You have to go to the Apple health app to look at a list of breath rates during the night. There is a website (family.beddit.com) that gives some more info but this website is also very limited and will be discontinued soon according to their customer service. Finding out if you're tossing and turning at certain times is impossible. And the average temperature and humidity during the night is useless. I get more detailed information at weather.com for that.

All in all I give beddits hardware department 5 stars.

The programmers did a solid job and also would get 5 stars.

Whoever designed the functionality of the app and decided what data will be displayed gets 1 star.

If the app gets improved this would be a clear 5 star device.

A suggestion: Since reddit already uses the iPhone mic to record sound for snoring they could also record overall noise levels and show it as a graph during the night. That might help some of us to track down why we don't sleep well.

Great way to track my sleep and my recovery from Triathlon training.
by Teton52 (5 out of 5 stars)
October 13, 2016

I replaced an earlier version of the Beddit tracker and have been using it for more than a year. The new Beddit 3 has some terrific features that I need, including the new sleeve with a no-slip bottom that eliminates the adhesive tape the previous model used to keep the sensor in place on the mattress. I travel, and have recently begun training for a triathlon I completed a couple of weeks ago. I use the Beddit with my iPhone and some other apps including Stava and Apple Health to track my training and recovery. Another new feature I've been using is the temperature and humidity sensor. I notice a real difference in my sleep in hotels, as the rooms always seem colder than the thermostat seems to indicate. Another nice change/improvement is the new USB connection. All of the sensors hardware is moved off of the bed and plugs directly into a USB power brick. I use a rechargeable battery and that seems to work really well, too. I know that some people think that having the hardware, bluetooth radio on the bed is an issue. (And some people wear aluminum foil on their heads.) But I like the idea of having the electronics off the bed because I can lay the sensor in the center of the bed and not having the hard surface under me. The new sleeve is soft and I don't even notice it is on the bed. Just have to be careful and remember to take it with me when I check out. The new App has some nice features too, including a sleep diary that I can use to make notes about my training, diet, and other things that can impact my sleep.

The item itself does a good job of tracking sleep patterns but other than validating what your sleep patterns are, I am not sure what it's usefulness is. I was already aware that I didn't sleep very much in total, this just confirmed that. I don't sleep any better having the information.....

Gimmicky like the rest

It's a gimmick more or less. It can detect LOUD snoring and when you move around. It can't accurately detect your heat rate and if you have apnea unless it can "hear" you stop breathing during your episodes of snoring, It can't detect central apnea. If an expensive sleep apnea (CPAP) prescription machine can't accurately detect when you're alseep, how can this? You need to be in a sleep lab and have all sorts of wires attached to your head and body including chest straps to be able to detect this.

If you're concerned about sleep apnea, make an appointment with a reputable sleep specialist store who will fit you with an overnight sleep kit that will do a far, far better job and the cost will likely be free as they want to sell you a CPAP machine. Otherwise, just buy a finger blood oxygen meter for under $40.

Same problem as Beddit 2 .. will not attach to the mattress at all. I would like to see the designs that did not make the grade, as apparently like 12 techniques were tried. Like .. thought they fixed that issue. Answer .. no. I am going to have to sew it on. I like that it is in a fabric sleeve that will allow that, but really .. did I 100% expect them to fix the Beddit 2 (which I threw in the garbage due to the lack of durability and lack of being able to attach it to the mattress). So .. round 2 with the Beddit and so far not so good.

Started using December 17th 2016 and loved it!
