Cannot produce a clear ice cube

After numerous attempts I am yet to get anything close to what resembles clear ice. I have tried all the tricks such as filtered water, boiling water, different freezer temperatures.

It's almost impossible to retrieve the molded cube. I'm a big fan of crystal clear ice cube for my bourbon but not sure your product is worth its cost.

I'm really surprised this mold isn't getting better reviews. I've tried all kinds of methods to get clear ice at home: boiling, double boiling, directional freezing using an open cooler... when I saw this on sale at Crate & Barrel around Christmas 2017, it made a lot of sense. Essentially the ice freezes starting at the top, and pushes any air bubbles down into a separate compartment. This is how directional freezing with a cooler works, but the trouble with that method is the effort it takes to chisel or saw a giant block of ice down to smaller, usable pieces. So I impulse bought this as a Christmas gift for myself. I've since used it dozens of times, and every time, the cube comes out way better than any other method I've tried. There are still some small traces of bubbles, but next to buying a Kold-Draft ice maker for your house, this is the best you'll get. I'm planning to buy some of the other W&P molds now for different sizes and shapes.

Bonus tip: the cubes are admittedly a little hard to push out from the bottom of the mold. I solved this by spraying some cooking spray on the outside of the silicone mold. They come out pretty effortlessly now, and it didn't seem to affect the ice.

I'm not sure what everyone here is having issues with. It works great. It looks like there are products for 4 cubes at a time now, if you have the space. See my pic of clear ice in progress.

Love the ice this "appliance" produces. It's a darn near perfect cube and clear throughout. Ideal for any fancy cocktail. Note that this process requires patience as you get only one cube at a time. We keep harvested cubes in baggies in the freezer. It can be a trick to separate the clear ice from the device, but it helps if you don't overfill with water to start with. Impress your friends- this thing does the job!
