No pen, unscewing necessary to expose vital elements

My Mom always said to look for the good in things, so...it has a very nice green color, it looks like industrial production material, it is ramrod straight probably to more than 2 decimal places. Now for the bad. First off I blame myself for not reading the fine print but...this tactical pen HAS NO PEN. That's write (pun intended). No pen. You cannot write with it. What this unit provides is a ferro rod for fire starting, a multi tool, a whistle, and a glass breaker and that's all. But the glassbreaker tip is actually under a soft rubber dome that must be screwed off before you can access it...think about that a moment. If your car is burning and you're trapped, do you REALLY want to spend time and BOTH hands unscrewing the glass breaker? What if one hand is broken? What if an attacker is coming at you...can you REALLY say, "gee...would you kindly wait a minute while I unscrew this tactical pen to expose the past I need to fight back?" Is incredible this want considered in the design. Last complaint --the whistle. Not nearly loud enough. Even when I blow on it as hard as I can it sounds like a glorified dog whistle. It's not loud enough to send out a big alarm. So...I'm unsure why this product is somewhat favorably reviewed.

To be fair, I have very little use for this product as I am a programmer who spends virtually no time camping or outdoors and I carry a swiss army knife for all of the functions that this has (aside from the ferro rod). I bought this anyway just because I thought it looked cool. That said, I am very happy with my purchase. Very well made and sturdy. I did play around with all of the features of this gadget. I wish the whistle were louder and the blade were sharper but those things are either not important or easily fixed. The ferro rod took a bit to get working as it seemed to have a layer of something on the outside. But, I was able to get it to work just fine after trying a few times. As a stylus this thing works great. I have used it on my tablets and phones and it glides across the screen very nicely. Once again, no regrets.

It comes in a nice presentation box, that includes the tool and 4 extra stylus tips. Overall, it's very well made and feels solid in the hand. The various components unscrew/screw easily and except for the stylus, have small o-rings to make a nice seal. The stylus tip quickly screws off and uncovers the hardened metal tip for breaking window glass in a emergency and that metal tip comes in handy for self-defense also. The whistle is nice and loud, and the stylus tip works well on both my iPhone and iPad.

The combination knife/bottle opener/screwdriver section works well and in combination the spark rod/whistle section, makes nice sparks.

There is a bit under 1/2" of room in the end of the combo knife barrel. Although it's great now, if they could use that room to lengthen the knife surface a bit more it would be even more handy.

Note, as always, there is a thin protective black coating on the sparker tool. You'll need to scrape that off a bit to get the sparks flying. My wife saw it and wants one (she has mine now) for her and another for my daughter in law. So I'll be buying 2 more shortly. �

The Swiss Army Stlyus, nearly perfect

I love this thing. I don't compare it to other styluses. I love styluses and Swiss Army knives. This is the Swiss Army knife of styluses. In terms of the stylus itself it's optimal if you have big hands. The reason I only give it four stars is because they messed up in not including a flash light. If it had a flash light I'd carry it at all times. I do think it's a bit overpriced especially since it doesn't have a light, but it is robust, unique and high quality. I like mine, it comes in a nice case and would make a great gift.

Quality Creativity Functionality

This is my first product from The Friendly Swede. Everything arrived as promised. The packaging is very impressive and to me tells a story about this company. Quality and attention to detail matter and it's definitely reflected in the materials of the product as well. Sturdy metal construction. Sealed enclosures where parts screw together. I've tried all the tools except the window breaker and they all work well. I use the stylus daily and appreciate there are several extra tips included. The whistle is so loud I can't demonstrate it for people without hurting ears. I carry the tool with me daily mainly because it's so cool looking (green). Hope I never need to use the emergency tools but it's good to know I have them.

Awesome little multi-tool. I use a stylus rather often and I'd rather not refill a pen over and over (not that it's a major issue) but this tool has just about everything I wanted. If I were to make some suggestions I'd ask that the scraper/knife tool portion be able to somehow screw onto another portion to make for a longer handle when scraping the ferro rod. A lanyard hole at the tip would be cool but that's just a personal preference, the pocket clip is nice. I've taken some cotton and stored it within the comportment where the glass breaker fits and the cotton works as a great igniter. I tried it out and it burst into flame after about 4-5 scratches on the Ferro Rod. I'm curious though, when it's needed if the Ferro Rod can be replaced?

Overall I'm very pleased with this purchase. I had bought those metal mesh stylus pens from The Friendly Swede which are probably the best type of stylus tip I've ever purchased, so as someone else mentioned... I do wish this tool had that metal mesh nib as an option.

Couple things. It is exactly what I ordered and came early.

Looks and feels great I love the tooling and grip on the metal case.

The stylus tip is accurate and works on all my devices and there are multiple replacements.

Things to improve... the blade comes unsharpened. I have the tools to put an edge on it, but not everyone does, its really hard steel. The flint fire stick is nice, but there is nothing on the tool that can be used against it to generate a spark. It would be nice if they had a rough grip on the outside of the case that could be used to strike. You could use the blade, but I spent 45 min on a diamond stone sharpening it, I don't want to destroy the edge now.

Seller communication was prompt and polite and most of all, NOT PUSHY.

I would almost rather a writing pen than a window breaker. The window breaker works extremely well. I tried it on a single pane and a tempered glass and both are one hit and clean.

This is a very useful tool! I am happy with my purchase. It is well made and everything is useful. If I were to change anything I would drop the littl knive. As I always have on in my pocket, and on in my survival kit. I would also leave the glass breaker exposed rathe than cover it with a stylus. In a jam I don't want to be fiddling with taking things a part under such stress. To me it would be like an extra piece of shrapnel in a hand grenade. I am well satisfied.

This is a review of the Friendly Swede Tactical Stylus. Bought 2 of these. The first was excellent, well machined and functional. The second was those things as well, except for the clip, which came out-of-the-box with a rusted clip.

What made me change my review to 5-stars was the excellent customer service. A replacement was sent. Amazing that the company listens to what you say and stands behind their product. The replacement was perfect!

Both my wife and I are stunned, in the best way possible! Thank you Friendly Swede! If they made a pen version of this with easily obtainable refills, I would buy in a heartbeat!

High Quality Pocket Multitool

High Quality Tactical Multi-tool; Everything is as described, no fake reviews, very nice light aircraft aluminum body, and considering all the replica Chinese junk tactical tools out there this is a refreshing product. Very nice to use; whistle is loud and functional, multi tool component is functional but might unscrew, Stylus is alright, but I'd prefer a smaller tip for the stylus so I could actually use it, the tactical component is nice, but not very sharp, but the tactical component will do the job fine, and the ferro rod is hard to spark without using a pocket knife, but it can start a fire with tinder fine. My only nitpick is that it doesn't have a pen component. A flashlight instead of the whistle and a pen instead of the ferro rod would be amazing for me, considering the product is already really good. Probably the best pocket pen-style multi tool survival tool you could get with your money, without a pen and flashlight, but instead with a ferro rod and whistle.
