Seems high quality, has held up to my dog chewing on. The foraging aspect only worked for about a day. My dog figured out pretty quickly that he could pick it up and shake it to get the food out, but he uses it as a mat to lay on it and likes it.

I was so excited about this, because my dog loves trying to snuffle her food on the lawn. I found out one day when I accidentally spilled some. I poured the two cups of tiny puppy chow bits and stood back to see what would happen. My dog looked excited. She ran over and grabbed one corner of the mat and shook it violently from side to side sending kibble to every corner of the room. It took me a good hour to clean up and I still find a little piece of kibble now and then a month later. It might work with tent stakes on the lawn, but then, why not just use the lawn. LOL!!!

My pup loves receiving both his morning and nightly meals on the wooly mat! It's been beneficial for him both in it's enriching element and the way it slows his eating, his digestion has been so much better since and he looks forward to eating even more now. The perfect size for about one cup of food. I typically just sprinkle it all over and let be, or if I'm feeling like he needs a real challenge I spend an extra few seconds fluffing it up. Easy to use and clean!

It took my dog 3 seconds to figure out that she can just flip the toy over and get her treats. Also it taught her to tear up the carpet looking for treats.

My picky puppy often will refuse to eat his high quality foods, despite the tough love approach. This is the only way he shows any interest in kibble, which we use to supplement. I mix kibble and hide a few treats to spark his interest, and he happily snacks away. It fosters his need to dig and paw. I chose this version over the fleece ones on etsy due to the neutral color, sturdier fabric, and upcycled materials.

Wish I could give 4.5 stars...but I have only had it for 1 week. Here is my review so far: I got this for 2 of my dogs; a 60 pound female German Shepherd mix and a 4 month old 50 pound German Shepherd puppy male. This was one of their Christmas presents. It is smaller than I realized going by this photo because this dog seems like it would be bigger. That was my fault; the dimensions are clearly stated. It is about the size of a carpet square-ish. Perfect for one dog, regardless of size. However, both of my dogs cannot use it at the same time so I will be ordering another one. Quality is very good. I would suggest SUPERVISING while your dogs use this. My older dog did not harm it but the puppy pulled out one of the pieces in about 20 minutes. Granted he is food driven and went wild over this new toy after I tossed in about 1/2 cup of Fromm large breed puppy kibble. He worked on it for a good 20 minutes without getting bored but I did not like that one of the fabric pieces came off. Dogs should always be supervised with any toy, so that is not a huge issue but often times it only takes a second for a dog to ingest something. The pieces are fabric, but still. The idea is excellent. I don't know how many wild dogs or wolves really forage through grass; I mean, I think they only greens and grains they obtain are through the prey that they kill; whatever is in the prey's stomach but still it could make sense. It is good to have when you need your dog to have some time to himself/herself. For 39 dollars I thought it was a bit much for the size you get but I don't see my dogs getting tired of this so it could be considered worth it.

I have a 13 year old dog that LOVES to eat. Unfortunately being a senior and rocking 2 knee surgeries; she doesn't burn off the calories the way she used to. We are always trying to sneak in some vegetables in place of cookies, a tablespoon of pumpkin to keep her regular; and we are constantly in search of the newest food puzzle to stretch out dinner time and make it more of an "event" as opposed to over in 30 seconds. The Snuffle mat turned Veronica's kibble dinner into a 3 1/2 minute affair. (If you would like to see the entire event, go to youtube and search: Veronica Lynn Pit Bull Snuffle Mat.)

The mat is very sturdy and well made, the "blades of grass" very thick and soft. The top of the mat is 75% cotton and 25% spandex; and the underneath is 65% polyester and 35% cotton. The directions say it is fine to go in the washer and dryer, which is what really sold me on it. I haven't had need to wash it yet as we have only used it a few times and since I am only sprinking kibble over it, it doesn't really get very dirty. When I do wash it, I plan to let it mostly air dry on the rack then toss it in the dryer on low heat for maybe 10 minutes or so. I like it so much I just want to treat it extra gently to avoid any shrinkage. Veronica's dinner is 3/4 of a cup of kibble (if that doesn't sound like a lot, she also gets breakfast, lunch and more snacks than she should). I sprinkle her whole dinner over the mat. When she signals that she's done; I shake it out and she's usually missed 2 to 4 pieces of kibble.

Obviously you want to use this mat, like most things with dogs; under supervision. That said, she doesn't try to chew the mat or the "grass"; she just snuffles around and picks out the kibble. I wouldn't want to use this mat with super soft treats - just personal prefence - I think it would be messy. Using hard kibble the mat actually stays really clean - unless of course you have a dog that drools a lot. I'm a clean freak and even if I use this mat several times a week, I'll probably only need to wash it once a month.

I highly recommend the Snuffle mat for canine enrichment.

My dogs are eating great again!

I have 3 Siberian huskies. In the month or two before I bought the Wooly Snuffle Mat, 2 of my dogs were not eating well. After some observing, I decided my younger sibe was bored and not eating and thus annoying her big brother to the point he stopped eating. I didbsome research into puzzle bowls as she already had a slow feeder bowl, but the ones I liked nay have spooked her. And then I found the Wooly Snuffle Mat. This looked great for a fast- eating and bored dog with a love for huntung and foraging. I bought it and we were able to try it out on July 3, 2018. It is now Sept. 27th and we have had no issues with either dog not eating. She loves her mat. I will set her bowl by the mat and call them in to sit and wait for the commandbto eat. Once the command is given, she runs over to her mat and stares at it while she waits for me to pour her food in. Once she is dine, we give the mat a shake to see if she left anything. Usually she does not. We use warmed up veggies (carrots, green beans, sweet potato, squash) and a dry kibbke with regular sizes and some pretty small bits and she has not had any issues with the smaller pieces. I highly recommend this product.

This is such a great idea for dogs!!! My trainer recommended it because my German Shepherd loves to work for EVERYTHING. She LOVES to
"Forage" for her food in her snuffle Mat. Every time I take it out she gets SO excited. She can barely contain herself. And when she's done she wants to lay with it. Absolutely love this product.

I've never felt the overwhelming need to write a review until just now. Day one of this feeding mat and my retriever has eaten twice out of it. Both times making it a quest for food when she would normally devour in seconds. The first time I tested with just a few kibbles. 4 minutes later she was still searching for the last few kibbles.

It is now dinner time and fed her a full scoop. All I have to say is, it's been 16 minutes.

It seems very good quality and has a good grip at the bottom. I love that it's such a simple product. It's 100% practical and effective.

Rumi, my 12 year old Boston Terrier, went INSANE for this thing! He's never been a very food motivated dog, and I struggle often to get him to eat regularly. It's gotten worse as he's gotten older. But he loves to go "snorfeling" on our walks, scavenging for whatever he can find in the grass. So I thought this mat would appeal to that sense in him.

I sprinkle his regular amount of dry food all over the mat, and when he's hungry, he just goes to it and snorts around eating everything! Sometimes he'll stop after 5 minutes, sometimes he'll snort around in that mat for 30 minutes! He gets every last piece, even kicking and pushing the mat around when he's done to make sure he got it all! It's made his feeding time much more interactive, which he seems to genuinely enjoy! I'd highly recommend this mat!

It really works!

I have a Golden who always ate really quickly. Recently he had an illness where he stopped eating. Now that he is better he was inhaling food so quickly he was choking and vomiting it up. I had to supervise his eating and sprinkle small amounts of food on the floor. Tried one of the "channelled" food dishes but he learned he could pick it up and dump it. This item seemed ridiculously expensive but no regrets. As for chewing the mat? Ezra does not generally chew things - unless someone gives him a silly plush toy - he will shred it in a day. (I've found toys he can't destroy.) I was bit concerned whether he would start chewing on this, but he hasn't. I enjoy watching him work on getting his food now. I shake it out when he is done and he has never missed one piece of kibble. Very pleased.
