Life saver in a hot amusement park!
by Linda Abbott (5 out of 5 stars)
August 29, 2016

I have no idea how this works, but I'm grateful that it does. We got these for a trip to Disney World in Florida during the hot part of the year. The parks get sweltering. All we had to do was wet the towels in the morning when we left. When they got warm, all we did was snap them and like magic, they were cool again. As I said, I have no idea how that happens. A couple of things to know... They come to you soft, wrapped in cellophane, in a plastic tube. Once you take them out and wet them, they change, and we learned some things. First, you need to rinse them before using them. The instructions that come with them clearly tells you this and you really need to do that. I think they put something in them that keeps them soft while they're on the shelf. .They don't dry soft. At the end of the day, when you rinse them out, they will dry in whatever shape you put them in. If you put them over a towel rack, it will dry hard, folded in the shape it took over the towel rack. If you fold it wet to put away, so it will dry folded, we found out the hard way that you're going to get mold. You need to let it air dry. It took a couple of trips through the washing machine before the moldy smell left. Having said that, these towels were amazing and kept us cool in a very, very hot amusement park.

Frogg Toggs vs Enduracool
by S. Uy (4 out of 5 stars)
July 15, 2014

I got both this and the Enduracool cooling towels at relatively the same time. Both have their pros and cons, which I will try to explain here in some detail. The Frogg Toggs is much thicker and bulkier, and has a rubbery, foam feel. As others have stated, it dries hard, and because of this, it is much less portable. Since it is thicker and bulkier, it does hold more water, and therefore lasts longer than Enduracool. It also feels much more damp, and, since it is heavier, will press harder on your skin, making it seem cooler (actually a little too cold, like the shock of pressing ice to the back of your neck), but at the cost of feeling stickier.
The enduracool feels like a restaurant napkin/ big hankerchief. It feels like regular cloth and is much more comfortable, but since it is smaller it lasts only about an hour or two depending on weather conditions. Conversely, since it is smaller it takes a lot less water to reactivate it compared to the Frogg Toggs so as long as you have some access to water neither towel has an advantage in regards to longevity. Since it is lighter and not rubbery, it feels less damp, though neither towels feels dry to the touch as promised in the description. For my personal preferences, I prefer the Enduracool. It is small, portable, more comfortable, and more practical for what I need. If you need a towel that lasts longer, and don't mind feeling more damp/ sticky on a hot day, the Frogg Toggs would probably be the better choice, for instance, if you were at a picnic or on the beach.

Great for a hot day at Disneyworld!
by Angelia MGC (5 out of 5 stars)

I don't know how we ever made it through a summer without these. We went to Disneyworld at the end of May and it was already hot! These Chilly Pads kept us comfortable. I have super sensitive skin so I was concerned after reading some of the negative reviews but I followed the directions and washed it before using and I had absolutely NO problems with skin irritation or with color fading. They do get kind of stiff when they dry but not so stiff that you can't fold them. We washed them before our trip and let them dry completely. Then we folded them and put them into zip loc bags and then in our suitcases. We took them to the park dry in their zip-lock bags and wet them at the park once we got hot. We hung them up in the hotel room at night and they were mostly dry by the next morning. We never had a problem with mold or mildew. This is a great product!!

Don't store it wet! Great for baby-wearing!
by ARUNNER (3 out of 5 stars)
August 21, 2014

I purchased this product for use while baby-wearing as it keeps the parent and the child cool. This is a very genius solution to this problem that many moms are just now discovering. The towel arrived in its container moist (definite disgusting factor) but I read that this was to keep it pliable and was normal. Washed like a dream and hung to dry. Which then turned my Chill Pad into a rock-hard piece of chill pad. The instructions say to store moist in the original container (which has some holes in the lid for ventilation) but many reviews stated they did just that and ended up with moldy chill pads. No thanks! After seeing how stiff this dried, I re-wet it, then dried it in a more pleasing shape (folded in half and then in half again) so it was easier to stack in the cabinet. I store mine completely dry on a shelf in the garage. Doesn't take long to re-wet and use. Overall, not a bad product, if you don't follow the manufacturers instructions for storage. I think the included storage instructions assume you will use the towel regularly or at least use it again long before it has time to mold. I sometimes go weeks between using mine, so storing it wet is not an option.

Works really well, even in direct sunlight!
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)
July 21, 2017

I work on car wheels all day always in the sun and this summer has been 95 and 70% humidity pretty much every day. I use this all day and it's great! It's not perfect but it's a heck of a lot better than the hot sun on my neck.

You need to keep it wet, once it starts drying out it doesn't really work. So as long as you keep it wet and keep moving it around it'll last 1-3 hours between wetting it in direct sunlight of 95-100 degree and humid heat. At least that's what I've found.

I've also found if you put it in front of some A/C for a little bit it becomes like ice and stays that way for a long time. It's great!

It can definitely get pretty bad smelling but just wash it regularly and you'll be fine. At least that's what I've found with my 2 chilly pads.

BEST ITEM I'VE PURCHASED ON AMAZON!!!!
by Anna H. (5 out of 5 stars)

My physician recommended this cooling towel, because it's so HOT in Las Vegas during the summer. Before this cooling pad, I could only be outside for about an hour during the summer. Now, I can be outside for up to three hours with the wonderful cooling pad. I will always be eternally and internally grateful to Frogg Toggs for creating this products.

For PR Aide We Bought Out MOST Brands on Amazon - These Were Biggest and Best
by Deborah Dolen (5 out of 5 stars)
November 25, 2017

We sent hundreds of these to Puerto Rico and naturally many thanks. Law Enforecment ended up needing them when directing traffic on 12 hour shifts! They had to "BE" the traffic light in blaring heat. Glad we could help funded by Flavor Laboratories, Inc and author Deborah Dolen. They are the far bigger ones and happened to be our company color. We bought out most cooly towels on Amazon and these were the biggest and our favorites of all cool type towels.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - Turned my brand new shirt pink after using ONCE!
by William G. (1 out of 5 stars)
July 5, 2018

This is totally unacceptable. We recieved 2 of these towels (yellow and this one-pink). After washing it in warm water with a mild detergent (as per instructions), I took this on a late night run. When I returned my wife asked me why my brand new running shirt looked pink - to only find out that this towel had bled its color all over my shirt. I then tried to wash the towel and my shirt (separately) only to more disappointment. This picture is after 2 cycles through the washer and 45 minutes of me rinsing it out in my sink. DO NOT buy this and expect to use it without this problem.

The yellow towel we order came ripped open with small stains all over it. This too was washed but now the small spots turned into faded larger spots. I refuse to let anyone use these towels now.

These towels were for our trip to Disney this weekend, off to Walmart I go to replace both of these towels (for different reasons).

As I was typing this I realized this has now stained my sink pink as well!

This was a good price. We love using these Frogg Toggs at ...

This was a good price. We love using these Frogg Toggs at hot softball games and on the golf course. We wash them and while they are wet fold them, put them in Zip Lock bags and freeze them, so they are always fresh and ready to go. We keep several. We put them in small coolers and take to the sporting events. When the kids need them, if it is still frozen they simple drizzle some of their drinking water on it and it is ready to go.

Truly gets cold, stays cool and is a lifesaver in Florida heat!
by Disneyfreak2017 (5 out of 5 stars)
July 29, 2019

The reviews were good- so I took a chance and am very impressed with these towels! They DO get cold, stay cool for over half an hour (then you rewet them and they are cool again!) Florida heat in summer is brutal, especially inland (i.e. at Walt Disney World!) and staying cool is seriously important. Wrap this around your neck, use it to blot your face, hair, whatever- on rides where you aren't so conspicuous, such as any of the shows or a dark ride. Of course, you can keep it draped around your neck in public- which I did. I chose the American flag design and love it! I did already wash them, in cold water, HE detergent, NO drier- and they are good as new. NOTE: they have a strong, odd smell when you first open the container and take them out. Directions say rinse in WARM water first, and I highly suggest you do this, and rinse out container in warm water (it's your storage unit) before using. I didn't use the hard plastic container while out- but a large ziplock bag, to which I could add ice to, at the park. I highly recommend purchasing a couple of these, always take them with you, and ENJOY the cool! :-)
