Can be quite shocking in certain cases..literally!by dbvolfan1 (3 out of 5 stars)

The grill itself is huge and works pretty much like every other wood pellet grill. One drawback to it's size however is the time it takes to heat up. You better leave some time on the clock to allow it to get to a good grilling temp...it's especially noticeable if you are coming from a gas grill.
My main concern is durability. Mine is not even a year old now, having purchased it at Costco last July and the igniter went out. The big issue there is that if you have it plugged in and the igniter goes you WILL get shocked. Called LG because the grill shocked the heck out of me whenever I touched it...5 minutes later CS comes back and says it's because the igniter failed. Seems like a poor design to say the least....if the igniter goes out I expect to have to light it the old fashioned way but not get shocked like that. I wish LG would fix that issue and not just send me a new igniter.
A quality smoker that performs well....

This is a quality product that has been designed for the user - not for the ease of construction or using cheaper materials to keep the cost down. I have been using pellet smokers for 15 years or so and I prefer this one. If you are just going to be doing hamburgers and hot dogs, this is not the unit for you. If you are into pork ribs, pulled pork, steaks, etc. I would recommend this.
Pros - heavy duty, quality materials - digital readout of the internal temperatures of the main cooking area and/or meat - accurate thermometers for the second smoking and cold smoke areas. When preset internal temperature of meat is reached the unit reduces cooking temperature and keeps the food at that temperature. Steaks! My wife loves that I can now put a good sear on steaks and have them be medium rare. Other pellet smokers I have had will not do anywhere as good a job. When opening the lid you can push a control and feed some extra pellets into the fire and maintain temperature. Three sets of baffles to control temp. in the cold smoke and second smoke areas along with a chimney baffle. I have not tried the cold smoke area but the thermometer indicates I can keep the temp. under 100 degrees. Assembly is easy enough and not complicated (a couple of hours).
Cons - Don't plan on it being portable (400+ pounds) - it rolls easily on flat patio because of very good casters but there is not a sturdy place to use to pick it up if there is a step or two. There is a bit of a learning curve to using the baffles and the digital controller (but when I got that down pat, it works great. The website shows they make a cover but they have been out of stock for five months as of now.

First I would like to say don't let the size scare you it is a very gentle grill/smoker. I bought mine from Costco and I've cooked Brisket, Ribs Hamburgers and Chicken all to perfection. It holds temp to a tee never had a issue with fluctuating as long as you don't try to take short cuts. You need to ALWAYS preheat to 450..ALWAYS no matter what you're cooking. After it reaches 450 you can then bring it back down to your desired temperature or leave it there for grilling Hamburgers or hot dogs. I cooked Hamburgers and Dogs on the grill at 450 and was still able to keep the smokerbox between 225 and 250 for the shrimp that was in it. If you're only smoking you should use the main section, you use less fuel that way and it will maintain the perfect temp. If it doesn't don't blame the smokers you may just have a bad one, that does happen.
Not the champion you are looking for. Beware!

Bought this grill from Costco in Dec. 2017. Arrived with no damage. Assembly was straight forward. Cooked Christmas turkey on first cook. Worked fine. Down hill after that. Unit doesn't hold temp. Temp varies widely. Followed manufactures directions to the letter, still varies greatly. When pellets get low flames WILL infiltrate pellet box and burn the pellets inside the hopper. Made strange thumping noise afterword's. Last use, unit made loud POP and just shut off and will not restart. Hopper doesn't have dump door. so if you cooked with, lets say cherry wood today, you must use cherry wood until hopper is empty. Can't change woods between cooks, i.e.. cherry today and oak tomorrow. This grill is huge. unless you are in business or have a huge family, stick with less grill. It has room for 3 turkeys,4 chickens and 3 racks of baby back ribs. Just in the main chamber! Then you have more room in the side chambers for pies, cake, yes cakes, pizzas. It's supposed to smoke jerky and sausage in the side chambers also, but the temp in mine never reached smoking temp. When I checked an hour later (a reasonable amount of time) the sausage I was trying to smoke was jerky. like I said this thing is huge. Not your typical tote around grill. Will trade for any other brand or type grill. Not everyone sells pellets yet either. Might want to check on pellet supplier before purchasing any type of pellet grill. I must mail order mine. Go see, feel, smell before buying this Daddy. Don't let macho ruin dinner with this grill. This is a sound case of Bigger is NOT better. Beware!
Happy with mine

I bought one of these beasts at Costco a year and half ago. I initially had to call LG directly because it would overshoot temp very quickly, but they told me how to adjust the programming, which was fairly straightforward. It does take a while to come up to temp. I use it about once a week for various things, from brisket, turkeys, chicken, summer sausage, etc. The side cabinets are great. If you get one of the Amaze-N pellet tubes, you can just light that up inside the grill w/p turning the grill on and cold smoke cheeses and salmon in the winter time. It is a beast though - you aren't gonna put it in your pickup and take it to a party....
Good so far.

This is a large smoker, and my first pellet smoker. I needed something I could cook for large gatherings with and this does the trick. It seems to maintain temperature well and the cold smoke upper chamber is awesome for cheese. No problems with quality or operation so far.
