I Usually Don't Write Reviews, But When I Do...
by Voltech (5 out of 5 stars)

... I either really, really like it or hate it.

So I had to order a power adapter replacement on Amazon last week. While searching for a cable deal, I saw Amazon had a device I had put on my Wish List on a "lightning sale" ($5 off) for the next hour. So I bought it.
1. This item has a rechargeable (and replaceable?) battery that can be used to give power to other devices (phones, tablets, etc.) via a micro-USB port that is also used to recharge the battery.
2. It has a lantern for lighting up a room and has 3 settings: bright, very bright, and "Oh my God I'm blind!". As it's light and portable, it can be used as a flashlight that lights up a large area
3. And then the main reason I bought it: It's a safe bug zapper that gives off ultraviolet light. Nearby stuff glow in the dark as it is a weak "black light". The lantern and the bug zapper can be run at the same time if desired. If you're worried about the Zika, Chikungunya, H1N1, etc. virus (or itching for hours after a bug bite) then this is a fair solution you can easily carry it around with you. Of course, there are better bug zappers available if you're really concerned about damn bugs and the diseases they carry.

I can attest that the device does attract and kill flying pests like mosquitoes and gnats. And the zapper works for over 12 hours without charging. It's plastic, sturdy and designed so it can be run under a water faucet to clean. It can either be hung using the built-in hook (that easily hides away) or stood up on the end opposite of the white rubber-ish lantern (which disperses the light).

Very impressive kill rate!
by Skywalker (5 out of 5 stars)

Originally bought 4 through their Indiegogo campaign. I was suspicious of their claims. Was going to use in Puerto Rico for the bug zapper ability. I was pleasantly surprised how many mosquitos were caught every night. And that included using it outside on a balcony (it didn't get them all). But on my latest trip to PR there were still mosquitos and now no power either. So I used the light and the bug zapper. In a bedroom, I used the light for visibility and to read at night. Left the bug zapper on all night. I didn't get bit and there were 15-20 mosquitos and other small bugs every morning. It was so good that others in PR have asked me to buy more and bring them with me. Was able to charge one unit using a small foldable solar panel in 3-4 hours.

Added for those nay-sayers a picture of two and their kill! Pretty impressive. Not all mosquitoes, there were other flying insects too. Kill from two nights of using.

Great for small areas, but camp sites not so much
by Matthew Paranac (4 out of 5 stars)

I bought this for a recent camping trip because mosquitos love me and I was hoping to create a more enjoyable experience by exterminating them at my camp site. Unfortunately, two of these small lanterns were not enough to reduce the amount of mosquitos attacking my girlfriend and me. For most of the first night we were getting bit despite these lanterns being right by us. I was mostly getting bit on my ankles so i put a lantern by my feet but it did not help. After a while a did see a bunch of mosquitos were killed but my ankles were still covered in bites. The next night was more enjoyable thanks to some Deet bug spray which is unfortunate because I'm not big on covering myself in chemicals but I'm also not big on scratching myself to death.

We did get a lot of use from the lantern which conveniently hooked to the top of our tent and illuminated the whole 3 person tent for reading, looking for gear, etc.

Upon returning home I found myself getting bit again on our 10' x 10' patio which has walls on three sides. I turned off the patio light and put these two lanterns on (Just the zapping mode) and went in side. After about an hour I went out and the lanterns were covered in mosquitos and other bugs and I was able to enjoy my cup of coffee without a single bite.

These lanterns are great as camp lights but will not provide mosquito control for your camp site. They will provide mosquito control for a smaller area that has minimal access for additional mosquitos to come in. I found the best way to use the zapper is to make sure all lights are off and let the lantern sit with just zapper mode on (with the uv light) and let the lanterns do their thing. After an hour the lantern should greatly reduce the number of mosquitos.

To clean the lantern all I had to do was blow the bugs off of the wires in the lantern. No need to take it apart or wipe it down.

Surprisingly good

I hesitated writing this review when I first purchased this product because I didn't like it. I tried it in my tent and it didn't work. My mistake was turning it on for a few minutes right before I went to sleep. No go. It's not going to work super fast, like the bigger outdoor mosquito zappers. The key is to leave it on, at night, a couple of hours before you hop into your tent. I tried it again and it worked like a charm. The light has several settings and is bright. I completely recommend this for your tent when camping.

Thoughtfully designed-works great in an RV
by Amy Blake (5 out of 5 stars)

Tired of that one buzzing fly or mosquito hovering around you in your tent/RV? Buy this right now-it works! I've been using it for a couple of days inside my 19 ft. Airstream travel trailer, and found that if I hang one over my bed (see photo), I have no more bugs on me at night. Period. The bugs either get "zapped" or they hang out on the ceiling near the light, making them easy to swat and kill.

The soft purplish UV glow from the bug zapper doubles as a convenient night light. It turns on independently from the light bulb, which has 3 intensity settings and is quite bright even on the lowest one. Using mostly just the zapper at night, my lantern has held a charge for about 3 days.

SPECIAL NOTE ON DURABILITY: I have knocked this lantern off the ceiling and onto the ground or floor several times, and it remains undamaged. The soft, flexible silicone bulb cover does a great job of protecting the bulb from breaking.

Wouldn't charge Initially
by Travis (4 out of 5 stars)
July 17, 2018

Initially I was very excited to receive this with the intent to take it camping. While it comes with a charge, I wanted to have it completely charged up before use. To my disappointment, it wouldn't charge. A red LED is supposed to be on when it's charging, but I only see it if I jiggle the charging cable a certain way. I contacted ENKEEO and they suggested trying a different charging cable (i had used the one provided), which I did with no improvement. I'm guessing that something isn't soldered or lined up right on their charging port. I waited too long to try and return it and now I'm stuck with a device I can't charge.

UPDATE:

ENKEEO reached out and corrected the problem after seeing my review. I received a replacement unit which worked and didn't need to go through the hassle of sending back the original unit that was problematic. Glad to see that they care about their rep and making sure their customers are happy.

Love these!

These are great! I bought my first one on Indiegogo and then two more on Amazon. I use them at home instead of night lights and they get pretty much all of the mosquitoes that are in the house overnight as well as the little gnats, moths and other creatures. I did have to try a few different locations before finding the best place for them and setting them on a white piece of paper helps to make them even brighter. Would definitely recommend them.

Long Live the Bug Murderer!!
by liane (5 out of 5 stars)
September 27, 2018

This summer has been long and the longer it goes, the more bugs we seem to get. Sitting outside was becoming intolerable with the mosquitoes, moths, flies and other flying pests. We don't have an outlet outside the apartment so I decided to try this little light. It's GREAT!! It has solved multiple problems for us! The bug light works great and it's so easy to just rinse off the bug carcasses. It has a little hook that makes it easy to hang where we need it and the light is great! We had been needing a light and this works perfectly! We haven't used it for camping or anything like that so I'm not sure about how long it lasts on a charge, but it seems to have good battery life. We just bring it in and charge it every night or two.

I read some reviews about the bug light not really working, but I noticed that some people put the bug light next to them. Don't do that. The bug light attracts bugs to kill them, so if you set it next to you, the bugs will come to you also. Set it off to the side, near enough that bugs will choose the light over you, but far enough that you don't get swarmed. Easy peasy.

Just a note, because this unit is meant to be hung up, the bottom is rounded and made of a squishy, rubbery material. So if you really need a unit that will sit on it's own, this isn't it. It will fall right over. But if you really need it upright, I'm sure you could just put it on top of a cup. Also, if you're a camper, the unit is very lightweight so easy to take with you. The hook is small though, but take a piece of string with you and you can hang it anywhere.

Can't beat it for the price! I love this little bug killer!

Excellent for tent camping!
by Jessica (5 out of 5 stars)
May 28, 2018

This is awesome for tent camping. We charged it on Thursday and used it all of Friday night and Saturday night. This thing works so good! When the bug zapper is on it gives a black light glow. This was very nice as it wasn't too bright to sleep. I didn't have any bug bites all night. No buzzing in my ears. We only used the adjustable bright light a couple times, this thing can get bright! I don't know how long it would stay charged using the bright light but I don't see a need for using that light often. We have other lights we use camping.

Useless against mosquitoes
by J. Bloomer (1 out of 5 stars)
October 7, 2018

I purchased this as a tent mosquito zapper for beach camping based on all the rave reviews. Despite some positive features, this lamp was a waste of money for me.

PROS:
+ Nice tent light with 3 settings
+ Very portable

CONS:
- Utterly useless against mosquitoes
- Takes a long time to charge (at least 12-16 hrs.)
- Loses charge quickly (at most I got 6 hrs. total use)

Based on other reviews, I turned the bug zapper light on an hour before getting into my tent for the night (hoping it would attract/kill off any bugs lurking around). I also hoped the mosquito zapper would cut down on the amount of DEET I would need to use on my skin while sleeping in my tent. Despite being in my sleeping bag, mosquitoes found me. When I woke up, my arms & legs were covered in itchy bites - and not a single dead bug in the (now dim) bug zapper reservoir! So if you're hoping to use this as an alternative to coating your skin with chemicals, you're going to be very disappointed.
