A cathartic exercise in mosquito murder

We made the mistake of moving into an apartment north of a marsh and just south of my personal hell. Daily, hundreds of mosquitoes, of the most unrighteous of sects, make the pilgrimage to our front door in hopes of drinking my precious blood. After 30-ish bug bites, we decided enough is enough and declared war on the blood-suckers. Armed with "Elecuto Electric Bug Zapper Fly Swatter", mankind's most advanced bug-killing technology, thousands have been slain in this holy war. Their limbs are scattered in the desolation that is our front porch. One is always left alive to tell the tales of our carnage. Yet they return. Every day. I fear in the near future that the smell of burnt hair and the sound of popping will induce flashbacks of this most gruesome of mosquito-human conflicts.

The mosquitoes will never truly be gone but my thirst for blood is temporarily abated.

Impressive product and customer service

This product worked exactly like it was supposed to at first. Instead of an annoyance, a rogue fly getting into the house was almost exciting! After using the product every other day, for a month, The handle (black part) and the "racket" (yellow part) started becoming a little wobbly. Before long the racket stopped working because of the two pieces disconnecting. The design is either flawed, or I received a faulty product.

A day or two after writing the (above) previous review, Elucto contacted me and asked if I wanted a new product shipped to me. They also refunded me for the trouble of dealing with a faulty product. This was the quickest and most professional service I've ever experienced. I would recommend buying this brand of bug zapper/racket from this company. They impressed me!

Good tool, but needs more power

First, let's dispense with the myth that this thing will kill flies with one swat. No, not gonna happen, unless you are lucky enough to find an elderly fly that was taking its last breath anyway. The description reads, "highly reliable and professional will zap Bugs or Flies in ONE SWAT. No need to swing multiple times to zap bugs, like the 3 layer rackets."

Well, this is technically true. There is a *zap* with a single swat. If you don't care about actually killing flies and just like to hear zapping sounds, this will be sufficient. Unfortunately it will take 2-4 more zaps to actually kill the darn fly, and even that is hit or miss. I have had this thing for a day, and I have killed many flies. It is a very valuable tool for stunning flies, but that's about it. I would say that most flies are immobilized with 3 zaps. After that, it's best to follow up with the tried and true "squish" method, just to be sure.

As an example, I found a fly on the bathroom window. I trapped it with my Bug Zapper, and it gave itself two good zaps as it tried to flee. I then flipped the zapper underneath the fly, where it zapped itself another good one on the way to the floor. Mission accomplished! I chased down a second fly and returned a few minutes later to clean up the first. There was no fly lying on the floor!! There was, however, a fairly pissy live one buzzing around the bathroom! Either I have discovered Zombie Flies, or this swatter needs a helluva lot of zaps to do the job.

So, getting the bad point out of the way, here's the good:
1. It feels more solid than other versions of bug zappers I have tried.
2. It takes actual batteries which are included.
3. It does a decent job of stunning flies so that they may then be squished.
4. It is a nice, maneuverable size.

Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase.

Powerful enough to take out Yellow Jacket Wasps

We have, or should I say "had" an extraordinary number of yellow jacket wasps raiding out oriole feeders.

The wasps had become so defensive of that food resource, that they scared off the birds.

I purchased the Large Electric Bug Zapper which is marketed here as a "fly swatter", let me just share that swatting fast enough to zap a fly is pure potluck and there will be dozens of misses before you connect with a fly.

IF they made the racquet out of clear plastic instead of yellow, you could get much closer before they knew what zapped them.

I want to share that this zapper will indeed snap hornets and wasps right out of the air as they hover over your food, or in my case, grape jelly intended for Orioles.

The included batteries were holding enough charge to deliver a full week of zapping activities.

Want more dramatic zaps and pops? Do your bug swatting at night and see the sparks "fly" pun intended.

Also works on wall treading creepers inside the house.

I recommend this with zero hesitation.

WARNING touch it with your fingers when charged and it does really give you a prickly pinch!!! Keep away from children.

I think this item is a bit overpriced. But overall I love it and it works great! My dad bought one of these on the exact same day, Made by a different brand. And After testing both of them, We realized that this one works much better.

Just be careful around kids. There is no "safety" between the shocking part, So you can accidentally shock things you may no intend to. Although my friend touched it, And he says it's not really painful.

This kills flies fast and easy! It's great to have this in combination with flystrips or other fly things, It will help your house stay clear of flies!

Wasn't sure what to think. I already own a bug zapper that you hang in your yard and it works pretty well to draw the majority of the pests away from our main seating area, but sometimes there are persistent bugs that just won't leave me or my guests alone. That's when this handy product comes in. I like to give it to my guests to use when they are being annoyed by a bug. Most people find vindication in zapping an insistent mosquito or fly with the Elucto Electric Bug Zapper Fly Swatter. Big bonus - this item came with the required batteries so all I had to do was take it out of the box, install the batteries (no screwdriver needed!!) and I was happily zapping annoying critters left and right! I highly recommend this product.

This is the best bug zapper I've ever used! I especially like that it doesn't have a filter screen over the wires, because that keeps it from killing flies or anything bigger than a mosquito or gnat. This is great. I accidentally zapped my finger and it scared me, but it wasn't horrible.

Flies are DEAD

Where are the flies when you need them? Seems like they knew what was coming... I finally was able to try my new fly annihilation technique on a couple of unsuspecting buzzers. I was sadistically pleased with that distinctive ZAP of fly electrocution and the tiny wisp of smoke. Thank you for this new self defense against those pesky flies! Oh, one more thing. I know you are really tempted to try it on your cat or dog. DON'T! This is a serious device. Its only use is causing death to flies. Your pet will definitely not love you if you succumb to that temptation.

Malfunctioned in less than two months.

I received this "Bug Zapper" on July 20, 2017. It worked great at first, but is now malfunctioning after less than 2 months of use. When I press the yellow activation button, it makes a strange electrical "popping" sound and does not "zap" bugs any longer. I replaced the batteries, just in case the ones I first put in were getting low. The same thing happened with new fresh batteries.

I would have given it a higher rating, but malfunctioning after less than two months is unacceptable in my opinion.

I have seasonal trouble with fruit flies in my kitchen. The summer heat and discarded food in trash bags makes a prodigious breeding ground for the little buggers. I'm going to get one of those trash bins with the self-closing door, which should help, but meanwhile I'm under siege.

I've gone through can after can of bug spray, and I've tried fly-paper like products without much success. I saw this item, and read product reviews that said it worked with really small bugs like gnats and fruit flies. Incidentally, the manufacturers card that came with this device says that it is NOT suitable for really small flying insects. I'm not so sure about that. Let me tell you about my first two kills;

I spotted a fruit fly and held the gadget over the bug while pressing the little white button on the side. Except for a small red LED lighting, there is no indication that anything is happening. As I moved closer to the fly, it took off and found the wire screen. Jeez, I nearly jumped a foot. I thought it would simply kill the fly (with luck), and it would be otherwise uneventful. Instead, as the fruit fly struck the wire grid, I saw a blue arc and heard a decisive SNAP!!! I jumped, a little startled. It didn't just kill the bug, it vaporized it.

The blue arc is about the size of a garden pea. The snap is not actually loud but it sure gets your attention. I promptly nailed another fruit fly and was now ready for the blue flash and snap. Not as startling the second time around. I'm getting combat hardened. I think this gadget will prove handy while I investigate better kitchen trash bins. I'm giving it four stars only because it scares me a little.
