Holograms in Your Hand!
by Greg McCabe (5 out of 5 stars)

Brilliant product, use your smart phone, download apps and turn the cube into holograms. Some of the holograms just look cool, but a lot of them are really interactive games. All for $15. Hard to beat!

I received in the mail a few days ago and it is awesome. I've only used it on a few apps but so far, it is really cool. I'm using my cell phone with it and that works great. However, I am now probably going to purchase a cheap/affordable vr headset bc I feel like that would make playing the games way easier. Overall, for $15, I think this should be the gift of the season!! (much better than a chirping monkey on your finger :)). Although, they are very cute. Additionally, I can see all ages having fun with this- really cool educational apps and fun games available.

attached is a video using my phone and a basic app which does kaleidoscopes.

Most of the apps and games I can find right now are more meant for kids (I am a college student) but

I got this along with the Merge VR/AR Goggles. Playing with it combined with the goggles definitely make some of the apps much more entertaining but the goggles aren't required. This technology is incredible. Most of the apps and games I can find right now are more meant for kids (I am a college student) but it is still fun to play around with. I am excited to show my younger cousins and let them play with it.

The cube itself is made of a firm and durable foam. It comes with instructions on how to set it up and how to find apps compatible with it. I was playing with a campfire in my hand (the Merge Things app) within 20 minutes of opening the Amazon box.

I am excited to see this technology continue to progress. Definitely worth the current price!

Good price! Great for kids!

I got this for my son and daughter-in-law and we all tried it out. It was easier for the young folks to get started with it. There's a good short tutorial that young people just seem to intuitively understand. So set-up is fairly easy.

It's about the size of a Rubik's cube and feels like a stress ball. You have to hold it so that a flat surface is facing your phone - it doesn't get angles.

My daughter-in-law recommends it for school-age children who can operate a phone. There are some enjoyable apps aimed at children including educational ones about the brain and the body, artsy ones for building things like DIG. We tried many of the free apps produced by Merge Cube and they are good for experiencing the augmented reality aspect, but most are not games. The Piranha and Star Fighter games in the Things app are cute though.

We also have the Merge VR goggles and liked the experience best wearing the goggles with the phone rather than the phone alone. Less coordination needed.

We tried it with an iPhone SE, OnePlus 3, LG G4 (which might have had some lag time not sure why), and iPhone 6. The SE is small for the goggles so obviously didn't work as well. All the other phones worked with the goggles.

Be ready to install a lot of apps
by Christen (4 out of 5 stars)

The concept is definitely cool. My kids recently became interested in learning about holograms so this was a perfect Christmas gift for them. I am giving only 4 stars, though, because to use the Merge Cube you don't just install one Merge Cube app-- you actually have to sort through hundreds of apps and choose what you think looks interesting, and install each app separately. Then when you get it installed, you find that the particular app isn't that interesting. So, you try to find another. My kids got bored quickly with this process of trial and error in finding a fun app to use with their cubes. Plus, of course the apps that look like more fun cost $ but I don't want to spend money on an app that my kids may not like or get bored with quickly. So, that part is not great. It also seems like on the Merge Cube compatible apps the main push is for the virtual reality set as most apps are compatible with those, where only some apps are for phone or tablet only. So, it's a cool concept but basically it's just augmented reality just like most basic scan apps.

Surprisingly Fun and Quick To Set Up
by Caroline (5 out of 5 stars)

The Merge Cube is definitely an interesting product. I never thought that a hard foam cube would be able to do so much for VR. I think that the setup and how quick and easy it is to be able start using this little trinket is really convenient. This cube actually allows you to hold holograms in your hand and its pretty surprising, being able to hold a human heart in your hand or examine the solar system with this is a really good experience. I have a Merge headset as well, which i also recommend if you plan on getting into some light, easy, and friendly VR. I highly recommend that you download the quick-start app for merge when using this these products as well.

How to make a kid happy! Hint: Cube!!
by Seismos (5 out of 5 stars)
November 25, 2017

Purchased the cube for our 10 year old grandson. He got it up and running with very little adult help ...and then it was fun to see him play with it. I had to help with getting apps from Miniverse and was quite pleased to find a lot of apps available there. He has enjoyed this tremendously and so have the myriad friends who have come over to experience the cube and the headset. I have to admit that I tried it as a jaded adult and found it to be a fun experience. A great buy for kids and those who are kids at heart!

From my 16 year old daughter - "It's like minecraft but you do it on your phone and it's super cool!" All the kids (ages 11-18) loved it.
