DARTH is cool and earns more than 5 stars
by Kerri M (5 out of 5 stars)

I had read a lot of negative reviews on the Samsung powerbot vacume line so I was hesitant to give it a try. I am so glad that I did. Software works perfectly. We use it on our main floor (approx 2700 sq ft). Multiple surfaces and many rooms. It doesn't miss an inch. I set a schedule for it and it goes until the battery is drained (which is a long time), returns recharges then comes back out to the exact place where it stopped and starts on the exact same line as it finished.

I knew it was going to work out for us the first time I saw it get half way through a room, come to the door of another room and then go in and clean that entire room then come back out and get right back on the line it was cleaning before it went into that room.

It works it's way through multiple tables and a total of 18 chairs with no trouble at all. Some of those areas I didn't think there was room for it but it found a way through. I totally expected it to be like the rumba and be stuck under a table.

The only problem that we have hit is that we have a couple of smaller, light rugs by entry areas and the rug isn't heavy enough to stay down and it pushed those rugs. A little rug tape will fix that issue.

We are amazed at how much it picks up. Even corners and edges are clean.

I am ordering 2 more for lower and upper floors.

When it works we really enjoyed it
by Shaun (2 out of 5 stars)

We purchased this vacuum after our $100 I-life robotic vacuum died after 2 years of faithful service. We really enjoy the convenience of having a robotic vacuum in addition to our regular vacuum with daily cleaning of our home which consist of both hardwood and high ply carpet with plenty of white dog hair from our two spaniels. We decided to upgrade to a vacuum with more features. We decided on this model due to the features it offered and with our children being huge Star Wars fans. This vacuum surpassed all of our expectations. We enjoyed how it vacuumed in a pattern rather than the random bump style our previous vacuum did. The edge master feature was great at cleaning next to base boards and other furniture. The vacuum would need to charge once in between cleanings to clean our first floor which is about 1400 square feet with a mix of wood floors and high ply carpet. When it was done charging it would automatically return where it left off until it cleaned our entire first floor. As I stated previously this unit vacuums in straight lines rather than bumping into objects and turning around and always finds it way back to its charger. The Darth Vader / Star Wars theme sounds are neat but are only heard at first when it starts cleaning and when it returns to the charger. You are also surprised with a nice loud signature Darth Vader breath when the unit has finished charging which usually catches us of guard and is late in the evening. Unfortunately a couple months ago (less than a year into ownership) the unit quit charging and died. We reached out to Samsung and mailed the unit in for warranty service. We received the unit back after a couple weeks and were told the battery was replaced. Within 24 hours of receiving the vacuum we began to have issues with it not operating for more than 10 minutes and no longer vacuuming in a preplanned pattern or returning to the charger as it did before. I have reached out to Samsung a second time in hopes they will resolve the issue but so far I am being bounced around between various customer service entities. In the end we really enjoyed this vacuum when it worked and our kids have come to look at it as a part of our family. However based upon the price we paid for the unit compared to our cheap $100 I-life robotic vacuum which worked trouble free for 2 years I am disappointed we are having issues in under a year of ownership. I will update my review if Samsung stands behind their product and correctly repairs or replaces the unit.

Cool robot but I wouldn't recommend it
by Jwangz. (3 out of 5 stars)

Only had it for 2 days, it's a very cool robot, but there are a couple of things that I wish I knew before I purchased it:
1. The dust bin is ultra small, like micro size (just one of the Darth Vader's eye). I have to clean it after every run.
2. You can only schedule it either One time or Daily. I only need it to run a couple of times per week while I am not at home, but there is no options for that.
3. It doesn't go to power saving mode automatically even after fully charged. I would have to press the charge button for 5 seconds to manually to enter power saving mode. Not sure how much electricity it wastes, but it doesn't feel smart at all.

Where has then been my whole life?!?!

I wanted to wait after we used this for a week until I posted a review. I have to say, this little vacuum has both met and exceeded our expectations. We initially picked a more expensive and higher powered Powerbot but ended up choosing this Darth Vader model because...it was cool. We liked the idea of a little robot playing the Imperial March and cleaning at the same time. We found it very simple to install the app and program it to map our home. We decided to use it in the main areas of the house (approx 1300sqft) which only has luxury vinyl plank and a large but very small thin area rug. We made the decision to buy a robot vacuum after we had our flooring installed and could then see every bit of dog hair and dust on the floor, which was causing us to sweep multiple times a day. We have the vacuum programmed to run once a day at noon and we've been more than impressed with how well it's keeping the floor clean. Sure, there are spots it can't get to, but we anticipated that before we bought it. The expectation was for it to pick up the majority of the dog hair, which it is doing. I've read reviews where people were complaining about how loud it is. It's not nearly as loud as a regular vacuum. All in all, we definitely plan on keeping it and continuing to use it everyday. We don't regret the decision to purchase it and we're so glad we purchased a model with mapping ability so the entire area we have programmed is cleaned every time.

Good for furry sheddy dogs
by P&R (4 out of 5 stars)
May 5, 2018

We bought this because 1. we need help in cleaning our house and 2. STAR WARS

So far it's been really helpful in maintaining the cleanliness of the house. This is our first robot vacuum so I couldn't compare it to other brands but having a sheddy German Shepherd already proves how hard this vacuum works in our home. We just run it once a day, and a good feature is that you can actually set the time when it should start running. There are also two suction levels but we've always set it at the highest level. From my observation, it captures all the loose fur but a regular handheld vacuum and a squeegee do a better job when removing fur on the rug/carpet.

In my opinion, it runs out of battery pretty quickly but it has this program of going back to its dock to fill around 2/3 of its battery to continue the cycle. I think it's programmed to go back twice when it runs out of battery. Most of the time it gets stuck under our couch but I can't blame the robot for the low clearances and possibly our weird furniture layout.

I'm giving it 4 stars because it supposedly has an app to be able to control the robot. The remote works great, especially for the manual control using 3 directional buttons but we want an app to be able to control it remotely when we are not at home.

Overall, we love this product. Did I mention the cool sounds it make when it's active?

Stopped Working after 15 months!!!!
by Frank S (1 out of 5 stars)
July 9, 2018

Edited: I've had this RVC for just under 15 months, and it stopped working. Wish I would have bought a Roomba!

My sister bought a Roomba, and I was amazed by it, so I started looking at robot vacuums to buy. The Star Wars theme got me to buy this, but after two months, the coolness has worn off. I have shoe molding on about 80% of my baseboard, and this robot's edge clean function doesn't work with it. Most the time it just bumps up against the wall until it rides up the molding, so the edges and corners of rooms never get a good cleaning. Small area rugs and kitchen chairs are more powerful than Master Yoda, they stop Darth Hoover every time. Two important features are missing: a full waste bin warning and the ability to schedule for different days of the week.

Cleans great but not for large areas
by Amazon Customer (4 out of 5 stars)

Cleans quite well. Love the Darth Vader theme. It does have problems navigating through my whole house and sometimes doesn't make it back to the charger but my house has a zig zag open layout and is larger (just under 3,800 sqft single story). I was hoping this would map out my house so it would know that there are areas that it is missing. Originally, it would make it through the kitchen to the back of my house in the TV room but recently it has been focusing on the den and hallway.... usually doing both twice. It seems to go until the battery runs out, recharge and run one more time. I wish it would go a third time because then it could probably get most of everything. It's quite frustrating watching the thing try to make it back to the charger. 9 times out of 10 it will go straight towards where the charging station is located only to stop and turn around and go in completely the wrong direction. I believe the charging station sends out a IR signal that this is suppose to pick up to guide it in towards it but I have pillars in my house that block this line of sight. It's always just a foot or two away from being able to sense the charging station. Once it turns around it takes another 15 minutes before it finally finds the base station or the battery fully runs out. I like the fact that it cleans under chairs and one of my couches. It's fun watching it navigate around my office chair, It's quite impressive. It cleans areas that I can't get with a normal vacuum cleaner without moving furniture.

Surprising upgrade to Romba
by Robin Fenn (5 out of 5 stars)
June 17, 2018

Love it. We have had a romba for years. This bot cleans circles around it. Romba was downgraded to the office, now everyone can search for him because he never makes it back to the charger. They have made a game of it by renaming him "Waldo" and send search parties every morning.

Samsung is a better cleaner, is better organized in its cleansing, is surprisingly quite, always makes it back to the chager and literally tells you whats its doing. We are trying to get our kids to be more like him.

It has been a great upgrade to our home.

Perfect, bigger than expected! Only negative thing I have to say is that iI not not recieve the spare filter or the magnetic boundary tape which would have been real useful, but Darth does his job either way.
