Product Description

The KRUVE Sifter is a Coffee sifting system, which goes beyond even the best grinders on the market, to deliver a measurable and consistent grind. A more consistent and uniform grind is one of the most critical elements in achieving proper flavor extraction. Whether at home or in the cafe, you can use the KRUVE Sifter to control your grind size and get the exact extraction you desire. The KRUVE Sifter works by using two tiers of sieves to separate the “fines” (small particles) and “boulders” (large particles) created by grinders. Thanks to the numerous interchangeable sieves, the KRUVE Sifter provides the brewer with full control over their grind. In addition, the KRUVE Sifter provides a standardized language for grind size, which can be used when sharing/replicating recipes. Arbitrary grind sizes no longer need to be accepted as the Norm. In fact, it is an incredibly accurate grinder calibration tool. Used by top competitors around the world and winner of 2017’s best new Product via popular specialty Coffee publication, sprudge magazine, it is no surprise that the KRUVE Sifter is making an impact in the specialty Coffee community. Package includes: KRUVE Sifter body - 12 sieves (sizes: 200, 250, 300, 350, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000, and 1100μm) 15 slot sieve holder sieve size: indicates the nominal hole diameter micrometer (μm) tolerances: +/- 12μm material: stainless steel sieve, aluminum body, bamboo lid

KRUVE by KRUVE from Amazon.com Services

KRUVE by KRUVE from Amazon.com Services. Labor intensive. Can get messy. Why 5 stars? It does exactly what it is designed to do. Do I use it often? NO! This is one of those items specifically designed for those who are beyond serious about their brew. If you are not too serious about your cup, leave this alone. Again, it does what it is designed to do and your coffee responds well to evenly sized grains. Whether you press, pour-over or auto-drip you will notice a difference in your coffee with even grain sizes and the skin of the beans removed. The most notable difference is less coffee dust/grittiness. But this also gave me the feeling of a weaker cup of coffee so I tended too use more coffee when I KRUVE. Also, when you KRUVE you will waste coffee on factory pre-ground beans. If you are on the fence about a KRUVE, don't get one. This is only for those who know they want it.

Don't believe the company's guidelines for sifter sizes for a French Press!
by Elise Helene (1 out of 5 stars)

I followed the guidelines provided by the company to try to buy the right size sifters for a French Press, but ALL the sifters' openings were way too small for the size grind that my coffee grinder says is right for a French Press. We used Kruve only once and when we saw that all the sizes were way too small to work, we wanted to return it. But we were told that they would not accept a return once the product had been opened and tried (even only once). How are you supposed to know if it works until you try it? Their attitude was pretty much, "It doesn't work for your size coffee grind? Tough luck." They are way off base in the size sifters they recommend for French Press. You will need the largest set of 3 that they sell. Every configuration they sell (except the two smallest sizes) is set up in such a way that you have to buy a lot of sifters even though you only need 2 because you only make your coffee one way--for us it's a French Press. So this thing is just sitting in a cabinet--$100 down the drain.

I wanted to like this...really!
by Valerie's Alien 17 (2 out of 5 stars)

I love the concept, however the 12 screen set is far too fine, anything below 1000 is too small even for a Keurig capsule. I use lots of french press, and it's just no good for that.

I think it's a great idea, but it doesn't work for me. Also, sifting the coffee is a LOT of work, especially with fine screens it simply takes FOREVER to sift. With french press normal prep at 5-7 minutes, doubling that to 15 minutes is ridiculous. I want COFFEE, not early morning arm exercises.

When I have had the patients to sift, to be honest, my unsophisticated pallet cannot tell the difference in taste. The only benefit I've ever seen is reduced fines in the bottom of the cup/pot. I'm disappointed...

Cheaper than a high end coffee grinder
by Retrorockit (4 out of 5 stars)

OK first thing is unless you buy the full 12 filter kit the suggested espresso sifters aren't included. I found it on sale, and also applied for a credit card I don't need to get a discount. It's very nice, but $80 for a sifter?

OK that's out of the way. I'm using a pair of hacked Cuisinart Supreme coffee grinders. One with local roated espresso blend, and the other with whole bean decaf. Total cost about$35 each. I wanted to see what they're actually doing. Not too bad really. The Kruve sorts the fine and coarse grinds. Fine for espresso, and I use the coarse for Aeropress. Very little waste, and all my coffee is better and more consistent. I adjusted the grind 1 step finer on all my machines including the Handgrind Precision Manual grinder. These are settings I tried w/o the sifter and didn't care for. With 12 filters I can play with the variation. But for what I'm doing an espresso kit with the 250m, and 500m sifter would be welcome. They're not in the basic 2 sifter, or the 6 sifter kit. It feels like they're gouging espresso lovers. Definitely a high quality item and it can refine the output of any grinder (even mine). The filters don't exactly snap in and out. More like changing a bicycle tire to get them seated properly. But they seal well and stay in place while you shake the whole thing around and tap the sides etc.

Great invention

Can't believe no one thought of this before? Makes a lot of sense to have even grind size for even extraction. I started using it recently for my Aeropress and French Press with quality beans and it really adds a level of clarity to the coffee and takes away a lot of the bitterness. For the french press in particular it helped reduce the sediment in the cup.

Excellent customer support for a very efficient product which enhances coffee-drinking
by Mark Sealey (5 out of 5 stars)

This is a well thought-out product that does its job very well.

Customer support is outstanding: no question seems to be too much for the team to reply in detail and at length.

Yes, it does take a little understanding to get the calibration as close to perfect as you can.

But when you do, it makes a noticeable difference to your coffee. Expensive - but well worth it. Would certainly buy it again. Thanks!

Treat yourself to the best cup of coffee you've ever had.

This thing is absolutely great. I'm not a professional barista, but I spend a lot of money on quality beans, and sifting coffee is the difference between a bad cup of coffee and the best cup you've ever had in your life.

Great Way to Sift + Calibrate
by Eric (4 out of 5 stars)
January 21, 2019

A really nice way to calibrate your grinder, and see how well it's doing. It's also quite useful for getting the perfect up, although for espresso it's a bit more annoying to have to sift it and then pour back in the portafilter.

The wood stand that it comes with looks to be laser cut, and while it works it's kind of flimsy, and the filters don't really fit on it great.
