If there was a negative star rating I would use it. An absolute joke. The "flame" effect is individual led lights flashing in a pattern under an opaque white coating. I ordered 2 of them in mid-October, so they would arrive by the holidays; they arrived 2-1/2 months later, after New Years. Only one worked. Do not be fooled; terrible product, and terrible service/shipping.

Was unhappy at first, no instructions on how to change modes. Read comments by another reviewer, where she said she had to unscrew to change modes. So I turned it off then on, all it did then was dim and brighten, dim and brighten. Tried it again with same results. Was going to return it, but thought I would give it one more try. I turned my porch light switch on and off rapidly this time, 3 times. Finally got the flame effect. I gave it 3 stars because of no instructions, but the flame effect does look realistic

Cool bulb for the price

So it finally arrived after about one month. Not sure if I got a bad one but mine only flickers in the bulb down position. When I tried it upright it was just an orange bulb that didn't flicker. For the price it's still a cool bulb. Would have been 5 stars had it flickered up or down.

Good from far, but far from good...

I ordered two of these, and tried them at different spots, in different fixtures and at different times. For $20 each (what I paid at the time) they were some of the cheapest "flame" bulbs I could find, and that certainly comes through in the quality.

Use: In a lamp or fixture that has a cover, or will only be viewed from some distance.

Avoid: Uncovered lamps or small, confined spaces.

Also, I can echo the extremely long delivery window. Mine was a little over a month.

Actually Very Realistic Fire Effect

I replaced my porch light with this bulb, and it looks really cool. Also, the light bulb automatically changes the orientation of the flames when it gets flipped upside down, so it will work either direction. See the video I posted of it on my porch.

The bulb also switches modes every time you turn it off/on, so I can either have the solid light, the flames mode, or the breathing mode.

It's silly but I kinda like it for a porch light. It at first seemed like it wouldn't look good since it was a very boxey pixel LED look. But in a more foggy glass porch light it simulated a fire look rather well. Wish there was some way to reverse the direction of the light up animation for lights that get screwed in the other way.

The lights themselves actually get five stars, but the delivery time was unusually extensive. The lights don't really give the brightness necessary for full visibility, but excellent atmosphere and with a accent lighting along the walkway, it's safe and beautiful. Although the product shipped after the latest projected delivery date, it still arrived in time for my purposes and I'm extremely happy with the end results.

First of all, these came from another country and took about a month to get to me. Also, we find the three different settings to be annoying. I wish they were just the one, flickering flame, setting. As for how they look, from a distance/at the street, they look pretty good. Up close, they're pretty orange-y and fake looking. Overall, I'm guessing there are better options out there with faster shipping.

Shipped terribly came in a paper shipping container instead of a box, I ordered 3 of them 2 of them don't even work and 1 came without a bulb box so just a bulb in the paper shipping container and the one that did manage to work was just an orange light there was no flickering or anything that resembled a fire, DO NOT BUY save your money 0 stars would be more appropriate

Pretty neat flicker effect

A neat idea. The bulb has a bit of flicker to it in the flicker mode. There are three modes - flicker, fade, and always on. If you look closely you can see the LEDs in the 'bulb' but from across the room, it really looks pretty good. We've bought several more since purchasing the first one so we're obviously pretty happy with the purchase.
