I recommend having an option for even harder wheels
by Amazon Customer (3 out of 5 stars)

I wanted to write this review for dog owners of large dogs. I have a male and a female Rottweiler. I brought it home and it worked exactly as shown. However........ it literally lasted 10 minutes before the ends were punctured in several places, the wheel was ripped off and the inside framework was crushed where the wheel is supposed to clip on. I looked and looked for a review that talks about the durability of them for large dogs and i didn't really see any. So now you know.. It WILL NOT stand up to the jaws of strong dogs. I recommend having an option for even harder wheels and a more fullproof way of attaching them to the body of it. I'll be returning it because it was not nearly as durable as described.

French bulldog loves it - I hope to love Version 2.0
by PJF (4 out of 5 stars)

UPDATE: lowering from 5-star to 4-star rating. After two weeks of use, I now feel like this is a good but not great product. As I write below, I bet your dog will love it - but as my usage and other reviewers have highlighted for me, the speed & controls are inconsistent. The Manual mode requires *way* more dexterity than I have, and the Automatic mode started out appropriate but is now too slow to always draw the dog's attention. (For a while I thought the battery was dying, but no, the GoBone had just become narcoleptic in auto mode.) The GoBone has great hardware, but the controls need fine-tuning.

ORIGINAL:

Our 1-year-old Frenchie loves this GoBone toy. He spent the first two or three 10-minute play sessions barking at it from a safe distance; he was very curious but nervous. He has rejected toys & gadgets in the past if they were too loud, but this gives off a soft mix of whine and whizz that is perfectly tolerable.

The turning point in his acceptance of the GoBone came once I got down and played with him, particularly showing that I could "paw" it and knock it around without danger. This took a full 3-5 minutes, but he's not a fast learner. Now his favorite trick is to pick it up and shake it around while it tries to spin out of his grip.

The app was simple to install, and the pairing was quick and fool-proof - even when installed across multiple devices. Kudos to the design team for keeping it simple.

My only suggestion would be to adjust the tire design or slow down the acceleration enough that food stays in the tires longer. I have tried dry snacks of varying sizes as well as small pieces of cheese, but they all end up spraying out within a minute of starting. Not worth subtracting a star - just something to improve on.

Pretty good, but could be better.

OK...

The good:
-The bluetooth connects very easily and stays connected well as long as you keep the app open. The app is extremely simple and easy to use. Like, brain-dead easy.
-It drives like a little ATV. It rolls over some decent sized objects (all laminate flooring here), such as socks, small toys, and a 4ft rubber snake coiled up. -
-It goes faster than I expected. I can shoot it across the room in just a few seconds.
-The autoplay feature works pretty well. It has a nice mix of tricks it does. I haven't used it enough to see what kind of adjustments it makes because Buddy doesn't stay interested long when it isn't moving constantly. On autoplay it'll do something then sit for 10 seconds or so at a time.
-It's very easy to take apart and reassemble, and easy to charge, and the battery lasts as long as advertised and will hold a charge well over the course of a few days.

The (sort-of) bad/could be better
--It's a bit of a challenge to learn to drive smoothly. I gave up on the arrows pretty quickly and after a half hour to an hour of practice I was able to navigate pretty well with the circle control. It's very sensitive, and not just a forward/back/rotate in exact positions. It moves with fluidity and very gradual speed intensity and you really have to finesse the circle to do it with precision.
--It's really not great for small dogs. It's not advertised really clearly but I kinda figured this going in because my guy is 5lbs and it's hard enough just to get a collar, much less any other toy. He thinks he's a wolf though, so he'll go after it, but MOSTLY only when I have something tied to the back of it. It's pretty well designed for pulling things around, and it's JUST strong enough that I can work the toy out of his mouth if I get a little run of speed. He doesn't, however, have a mouth big enough to really treat it like a bone. I think a dog would need to be at least 15lbs to be able to wrangle it around properly. A big dog would probably have a blast with this thing. A smaller version would be cool. I think a small dog would be less intimidated. The first time I fired this thing up Buddy went NUTS, barking, growling, running around like a spaz. I finally lured him in with a treat and found that his desire for a treat trumps his desire to not be killed by a robotic foreign object.
-**MY REAL BEEF(s)** No WIFI. I knew this ahead of time, but I REALLY want a way to engage him when I'm not home and he's chillin in his 10 x 5 gated area in the house while we're at work. I'm still trying to figure out a way to remote desktop phone to phone and see if I can keep something connected to it at home throughout the day, but to activate the bluetooth on the phone you have to bump it a couple times so it'll wake up. I can't bump it from 35 miles away. It would be nice to be able to take a break and get him active for 5 or 10 minutes at a time.
--AUTOPLAY IS NOT PROGRAMMABLE IN SEGMENTS. I'd like to be able to set it to kick on at a certain time and I was under the impression that it would do so based on the ad. I feel like it should be more specific. I check on him via Furbo every couple hours and he's usually awake around 1pm. I'd like to be able to set the Go Bone to kick on then, and maybe an hour later, etc. Granted, you can set it to kick on an off for up to 8 hours, but I don't want him to be awake all day long. I feel like they could set this up pretty easily, although I'm not sure if the bone has the ability to wake itself up or if it stays fully powered on when it's taking breaks between play time.

Overall, it's pretty fun. I fire it up for a few minutes almost every evening. I got it used on amazon for about $100. I would not have paid $200 and wouldn't still unless maybe it went Wifi capable (like Furbo. Seems simple enough?). But, if you're looking for something to keep your dog entertained while you're home, it's pretty good.

Not sure whether this would keep your dog occupied
by Lillygirl20 (3 out of 5 stars)

I have had this toy since Christmas (2017) It consists of four parts, which are pretty easy to assemble and disassemble. You have to disassemble the four parts to charge up the interior unit. It needs to charged until the unit is "flashing blue," meaning it is ready to connect to my Android phone app. Supposedly all that is needed to to "wake" the Gobone is a "double tap." Occasionally I have found this rather tricky.

At first my 16 pound cavapoo was terrified of it, but I had fun making to turn and follow her. Of course this is time consuming, but it is entertaining. In auto-mode, it will not move very much, and just occasionally move and flip itself over, making a smack with the handle if on a wood or tile floor. I don't think this would do much to entertain a dog while you are away.

Canine Robotics rocks! My dog and I adore GoBone!
by Lynee Gore (5 out of 5 stars)

I am very impressed with this product - Nothing else on the market has the unique combination of design, technology and sturdy construction., It has a (fast charge) processer that makes the bone speed down the hall, flip around and change direction, spin fast in a circle and get itself out of corners and hidden places. In automode It plays for 8 hours with intermittent rest for George. It is very very sturdy and easily washable. Its designed to hold treats inside the giant wheels. The price is steep but well worth the peace of mind that my dog has something to make his time home alone less uspetting.

Loved the thought of it.

Purchase anything but this overpriced toy. Lasted less than 15 minutes and then heard odd noises and the bone would fail to continue to go straight. Our dog had a few minutes of pure delight chasing it, and it has a few scratches from his paw. Still have the toy in the original box, don't know why I thought the manufacturer would reach out when I complained.

Got this smart bone for my furry friend
by TheAmazingDP (5 out of 5 stars)

Got this smart bone for my furry friend, Tux. He is a very active pup who's favorite game is fetch, and overall just loves to run. At first, I was somewhat skeptical, but after seeing Tux immediately go to town on this bone, I am very pleased. My initial doubts were definitely around the material and just the overal functionality of it interacting with my dog.
- Material is holding up great, Tux is around 20 lbs and loves those huge bully sticks that are for larger dogs, so he loves to chew. Thus far I have only seen minor puncture marks in the tires, but what I was really worried about tearing, none to report thus far.
- Functionality is pretty good for Tux, he's gotten to the point where he will start nudging the GoBone as a way to tell me he's ready to play! he loves it when the bone just takes off on its own, and gets amped up even when the wheels start wiggling side to side.

One thing I am working on with Tux is him taking the GoBone on the couch, as I find that he likes to stick it between pillows, thus immobilizing it. He's learning to keep it on the floor, and thus increasing his play time. Overall fun and innovative toy that I can use to supplement our play sessions.

This was easy to set up but a bit difficult for me ...
by Shorebnd (3 out of 5 stars)
December 29, 2017

This was easy to set up but a bit difficult for me to learn to operate as I did not grow up in the age of remote controlled toys. However, I did get the hang of it. My dog runs hot and cold on it. Some days he looks at it running around and shrugs; other days he can't get enough of it. I do have to monitor his play as he can get the lower portion of his mouth stuck in the handle opening. I am disappointed in the the auto-play feature; it is not active enough to keep him interested so I have to operate the toy during play time. The instructions say that the auto play will evolve based on the dog's activity but I have seen no sign of that. I would have given it a higher rating but I expected so much more out of it for the very high price.

Happy dog happy life!
by A.G. (5 out of 5 stars)

Pretty simple setup, easy to use via the app. The toy works as expected - you can either play with it like an RC car by driving it around, or you can set it to play by itself on a timer so you don't have to sit there and control it. My dog was a little skittish at first, but the app has instructions on how to introduce the go bone to your dog, and it seemed to work pretty well. I found it was best to put some peanut butter or treats in the wheels (they have little holes for treats) so my dog would chase it around trying to lick the wheels.

Overall, very impressed with the construction, ease of use, and the effect it has had on my dog (he hasn't been chewing things up as much lately).

FYI I have a 16 lb Pomeranian, but I can see this working just fine for bigger or slightly smaller dogs.
