Why doesn't everyone already have this??
by Katie K (5 out of 5 stars)

This is simply the best water bottle I have ever had. Even if you took away the smart capability, which, let's be honest, is the reason I spent nearly $60 on it, this water bottle is superior to any others I've ever had. Seriously. I have been saving up and pining for this water bottle and in the meantime, I tried to make do with ones that I'd already had or cheaper ones I bought. I now have a surprising of opinions on water bottles which may or may not be shared, but here is my list of reasons why this is a superior water bottle:
1. The Lip: other water bottles, like the once popular Nalgene or even some of the camel bottles, have too large an opening. If I am walking, driving, or even sitting up in bed and need to take a sip, I would run a decent risk of spilling on myself. With Hidrate Spark, I have rarely, if ever, had this problem.
2. Cleaning/sanitary-ness: Some other water bottles I've looked at have straws. I think this is gross for a couple of reasons. These are way harder to clean, usually a thinner plastic that is more likely to erode or bend, and any germs that get on them or if I am wearing lipstick, it's much harder to get this stuff off of those built in straws. Hidrate Spark is BPA free and the size of the lip is so easy to just wipe if I don't have time to wash the whole thing!
3. Weight: Glass bottles are nice, but they are HEAVY. I've used other thick plastic bottles (like Nalgene) and these are *also* heavy. I'm usually taking this water bottle to an exercise class, not using it to exercise WITH. Even full of water, this bottle is lightweight.
4. Shape/Grip: Some bottles are too thick to hold without the strap and eventually the strap can break. Another thing I've found with glass bottles is that the condensation is way worse than plastic and therefore slippery (and glass is more apt to break). This bottle doesn't sweat too badly and the shape really lends itself to a comfortable grip.
5. The Fill Line: Maybe I am dumb, but I can't always tell how high I can fill other bottles without them spilling over. The fill line on this bottle is super helpful for people like me ;)
6. Leakproof: In addition to the fill line problem, I have had bottles leak in my bags and this is disastrous. So far I have thrown the Hidrate Spark in all kinds of positions and next to papers in my bag and have not noticed any spilling, except when I knock it over without closing the cap ... which is user error on my part.
7. IT'S PRETTY: Seriously guys, I am a big fan of spending money on things that I will actually enjoy having and looking at, no matter how insignificant. You need water to live, you drink it all of the time, doesn't it make sense to have a delivery system that is pleasing to the eye? This is another factor that out of ALL of the other water bottles I've ever owned or seen, this is the prettiest.

Now the part that makes this bottle above and beyond: the water intake tracking. I'll be honest, I don't know how much water I was drinking before I started using this bottle, but I am like 90% sure I have been drinking more water since I've owned this thing. Not only does it glow to remind you (which you can turn off if you're self-conscious about a creepy glowing water bottle in spin class) but the app reminders are clever and helpful. I am a huge tech-o-phile and love gadgets and also anything that helps to better automate my life. In getting back into fitness and improving my health, I wanted to cross all my t's and dot all my i's. I had a Fitbit, I used MyFitnessPal, I even meditate with an app, but water was a missing puzzle piece. I really consider this water bottle to be a perfect foundational fitness tool in what I consider to be the quinfecta (steps/activity, food, water, sleep, and mindfulness) of wellness tracking. I'm not a fitness or health expert by any means, nor did I receive any kind of incentive to leave this review, but for what it's worth:

THIS WATER BOTTLE IS WORTH EVERY DANG PENNY!

Poor Quality Bottle.

Awful quality for $55, how is is this a standard quality for this product. The matte coating comes off! This happened after 2 weeks! Not recommending it to anyone until you fix the quality.

More headache than it's worth
by Amazon Customer (1 out of 5 stars)

I've been using this bottle for a little over a month now because I wanted to give it a fair shake. My verdict is that this bottle is absolutely not worth the money. The bottle itself is so cheaply made that I had to contact them within the first two weeks regarding the quality of the materials as the coating of the bottle was flaking off at a rapid rate (see photos). They were generous enough to send a replacement cavity, however, it has the same issue. Secondly, the technology on the bottle I purchased is seriously lacking. It does not track accurately, if at all most days. I have changed the batteries. Disconnected and reconnected. Recalibrated. Nothing works. The light glows only AFTER I've taken a drink, never before as a "reminder". I've contacted their support team several times and gotten different answers every time; "recalibrate the bottle", "don't recalibrate the bottle, too many recalibrations is bad for it", etc. Honestly, for the price tag on this water bottle, you're better off to buy a nice hydro flask or something else that doesn't leave you feeling completely ripped off.

Works for about a week. Terrible customer service.
by Mike O (1 out of 5 stars)

Returned three of these in one month trying to get one that works..always quits after about a week. Customer service does not care to fix your problems, just gives you generic answers and shifts the blame. Says you need to replace the battery - what good is a product you have to put a new $8 battery in every week????

Did not work for me. Literally.
by Just Me (1 out of 5 stars)
March 1, 2018

Did not work, and Hidrate has not helped me. By not work, I mean that it is just a bottle; the electronics do not work. It glowed once, but would not sync. Yes, bluetooth and location services were on for an iPhone 7 with the latest software (phone and app). By not help me, I mean that the company responded thus far by asking about the phone, the software on the phone, the app version, but did not okay replacing the bottle. I tried multiple times to get advice on how to remedy the situation, contacting the company via Amazon, their website, and directly to their customer service. Now for my comments regarding the bottle, which I was testing for use with the elderly: 1. It is not clear if it works without the app, but it did not glow or notify or do anything when I drank out of the bottle over the course of 1-2 days. If it does not work without the app, it may not be the best solution for hydrating seniors with cognition issues. 2. It does not appear to have a venting hole, which means that drinking with a lip seal around the whole opening will not work efficiently. 3. A bit too pure play for my people regarding what can be put into the water bottle. The instructions state, "Do not put any other liquids besides water in your bottle as that may damage the sensor." 4. This has been a very strange, time consuming experience. At this point I don't even want it replaced, I just want to return the thing.

Two broken bottles. How is this company still in business??
by Amazon Customer (1 out of 5 stars)

I wanted this water bottle for months after I first heard about it, but didn't feel right spending $50 on a water bottle. I am HORRIBLE about drinking water and am literally never thirsty. When I got a $50 Amazon gift card from work, I decided to use it to finally make the purchase. I saw that there were a lot of poor reviews but took my chances anyways. I wish I had listened to them!

The bottle arrived quickly and worked immediately. It worked perfectly for about 3 weeks and I was meeting my water goal every single day. Then, it stopped syncing. The coating on the outside of the bottle was also peeling off after just three weeks, even though the bottle only went from my kitchen to my car to my desk and back. It was never out in the sun, never thrown around at a gym. I took great care of it.

When the bottle stopped syncing with the app, I tried all of the help tips on the app and online but nothing worked. I replaced the battery with the spare it came with and that seemed to the trick, until about a week later when the bottle wouldn't sync again. I wrote in to Hidrate's customer service and they didn't seem surprised at all. They didn't even question that the bottle stopped working and was peeling. They agreed to send me a new "cavity" and "sensor" (read: everything except the lid - too cheap to send a whole new bottle, I guess?). My second bottle arrived and again, it worked for three weeks and then stopped syncing. I asked them for a refund and they very cheerily agreed (I'm sure they get it all the time!) but the window has now passed for a return.

TL;DR, if you want this water bottle as badly as I did, I suggest downloading the Hidrate app (the only thing that worked) and manually adding water from another bottle. You'll still get the reminders to drink on your phone/Apple Watch. You won't have a pretty glowing bottle, but at least you'll save $50. I'm not even sure how this company is in business when the product is clearly poorly constructed and the technology simply doesn't work.

Really cool!

I got my bottle quickly, and it was even cooler than I expected. It's sleek and neat looking. After downloading and syncing up the very easy to use app, it lights up. It's a great holiday gift idea too, so I'm planning on getting a second one after how seeing how much I enjoy this purchase.

Great Investment

I love this bottle! I always forget to drink water but i think something about investing in a pricey water bottle that not only lights up but sends you app notifications is super effective. Get it. I don't think you'll regret it!

I love the fact the water bottle blinks to remind you ...
by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

I ordered the Hidrate Spark 2.0 to make me drink more water during the day! I was impressed at how fast it was delivered. My estimated time of delivery was to be next week (1-10/ 1-18) and I received it this past Friday (1-5-18). I love the fact the water bottle blinks to remind you to take a drink. I also love the fact that this water bottle does not sweat when it is cold. I think the only confusing part of it is the app and maybe that is because it is new to me and I just have to play around with it but over all I am very pleased with this product.

Cons outweigh the pros
by Holly Miller (2 out of 5 stars)
March 4, 2018

I read a bunch of reviews on it before buying and while I was not crazy about spending $55 on a water bottle, I really wanted to track my water intake, so I made the plunge. First I'll list the pros, the company did a great job getting me my product. I got it weeks before I was expecting it. Setting up was easy. Works great with Fitbit, tracks water intake great, it allows you to set goals or will adjust your daily goal based on how much you are actually drinking and the bottle does flash to remind you to drink. HOWEVER, for me, the cons outweigh the pros. The bottle does flash but only up to 10 times a day and as busy as I am, I rarely see it flash. I am also someone who has to have really cold water when I drink it. This bottle is not insulated and sweats all over everything! I can put ice water in my bottle and an hour later it is lukewarm, which stops me from drinking water. I've only had this about a month and the frost on the outside of the bottle is coming off. The mouth of the bottle is very narrow so there is not a lot of ventilation for those who drink "chug" their water. Overall, I would not recommend this product to those who want ice water and those who like to drink copious amounts of water at once.
