Great mechanism
by MyAmazon Orders (3 out of 5 stars)

Does NOT work with hair dryers, not enough Amps, wire is 16 gauge. I had to remove the existing wire and install 12 gauge wire and use a GFI 20amp outlet for an in drawer hair dryer. Mechanism works great. Make sure you have 18" inside your cabinet and that your drawer is at least 17" wide or this will not work. Overall satisfied with the product, even though I had to modify to bring it up to code and not start a fire. * Recommend the Style Drawer or Mighty drawer for Hair Dryers so that you do not have to modify it like I had too.

It's a docking drawer

Does exactly what it is supposed to. The device gave the electrician and carpenter a little bit of a hassle on aligning the drawer back properly so that is the -1 star. It's only been installed a couple of weeks so we will see how it holds up over time.

After some finessing, it works great. The cabinet installers were a bit frustrated installing it, but after a few attempts got it right.

the electrician recommended this but had never order it - it doesn't fit in the kitchen drawer which means my cabinet maker is modifying the drawer - yet another unbudgeted expense.

The concept of this product is great, but the size is very large for bathroom drawers.

Hidden Power for Electronics at the Back of Your Drawers
by Spencer in Seattle (5 out of 5 stars)

Docking drawers (or charging drawers) are all new -- and I think we're going to see a lot more of them. The concept is pretty straight forward: you install a power source in the back of your cabinet, either wired through the back of the cabinet or up through the floor. Then this docking fixture provides the first junction box and allows the receptacle box to be installed in the back of a standard drawer. The articulating arm allows the drawer to slide in and out as usual, with the outlet always there at the back of the drawer.

Since first hearing about these, I've made the point of examining several of these docking drawer (again, I prefer charging drawer as the name for these) units. This one is pretty nice, in that it's solid and well hinged. Some of the other models don't protect the wires well, which makes me a bit uncomfortable.

NOTES ON WIRING: It's easy to wire the junction box to any Romex wire, and you can definitely wire this entire receptacle using a 14/2 wire. I'd suggest putting your wire in conduit if you come up the back of your cabinet on the inside, as cabinets typically have some things banging around in them and you wouldn't want to hit the wire, even if it's Romex. I suppose you could use 12/2 on this job, but that would be overkill given the small amount of juice that your electronics are going to use.
