Not taking this backpacking.

I ordered three kinds of solar-powered camping lamp: the MPOWERED Luci Pro one I'm reviewing here, the MPOWERED Luci Lux, and the Solight Design light. This is the heaviest of the three; it has a plastic strap that snaps open and closed (and seems likely to tear with repeated use); and since it must be inflated to function, you have to put your mouth on the lamp and blow to inflate it. That means that the lamp can also be punctured. The phone charger function is novel but seems weak to truly be a valuable part of an emergency kit (especially when devoted backup batteries are already available to consumers). Finally, the packaging is overdone compared to the Solight Design lamp, which comes in a simple plastic sleeve. The LuciLux Pro is packaged like trash generation is trendy. In sum, it does provide solar-powered light and will charge a cellphone like advertised, but I wouldn't buy it again.

Great Lights and Excellent for Camping

I'm a fan of the Luci lights. I actually have 5 of their Luci Lux. The Pro Series is great and I love that you can charge it with a USB cable. What I don't like is that the plastic cover on the USB port is not great. You can see in the picture that the plastic cover is broken. Other than that, Luci Lights are great and I highly recommend them for any outdoor activities, specially camping.

Please Read.......WE LOVE LUCI PRODUCTS...but this is the first one we had a problem with.

Love this and couldn't wait to get it.... but I have a problem right now with it. I got it for my son....Just gave it to him for his 3year anniversary at work on the 17th July....problem is that it is leaking air. I tried putting clear tape on the seam....but it is still losing air. You can feel the air coming out of the bottom seam.

Can I exchange it???? For some reason there is no "Return" option on this item.

Please advise.

Love these lights

Love these lights. I can charge my Iphone 5s from 14% to 100% in about an hour. The quality of light is a bright warm flood and not the cool blue LED look. They are very lightweight and are replacing all my camping lanterns. They will not sit flat due to the inflation valves and USB port. They do no provide great side light but as an overhead flood they are awesome.

Great product

Excellent light. Very easy to use and bright. Being able to recharge the light using the USB is a plus. And an added benefit is being able to charge a cell phone from the light.

Better and Better Solar Light
by GMJr (5 out of 5 stars)

I already have two other MPOWERD lights and love them. This new-fangled one adds some great functionality, like two-way charging, which comes in handy. Many will use the Lux light for camping, though I find it great for indoor uses too, like for reading or even for a baby nursery, believe it or not - the frosted sides create an excellent soft light that doesn't wake anyone up and doesn't require a cord.

Charger does not work
by Amazon Customer (1 out of 5 stars)

Do not buy this product for the charger part. This was a bday gift for my sister and after they sampled how it would work they took it on a trip to San Felipe and the charger part stopped working after the first day of a 2 week road trip. I wish I could return it, but it looks like the deadline for returns has passed. Now its just an expensive blowup solar light. Bummed.

Great for emergency and kids

We live in an valley that is heavily wooded and prone to wind storms so we lose power frequently. I have tried several types of lanterns, headlamps, and flashlights when we have a power outage and these Lumi lights are my favorite. They provide enough light that I am able to easily read my son bedtime stories and then I can leave the light on the lowest setting as a perfect night light. My kids have broken most other lanterns pretty quickly (those knobs are too tempting to leave alone) and these have held up to their handling. I love that they don't use batteries and their solar power charges seem to last a long time (didn't run out after being left on all night long). I just bought two more for our next storm!

I keep buying them

The Luci Pro Series Lux plus charging in matte finish is excellent. I like the matte finish because it disperses the light more than the clear finish. The 3 settings are excellent options. The lowest setting in my 3 person tent provides plenty of ambient light at light in the tent. I'm not sure I could easily read by it on the lowest setting. The medium setting provides noticeably more light as well as the high setting. You can hand the light by either end which is very handy. Hanging it from one end and the LEDs are pointed directly down. Hang it from the other end and the LEDs are pointed up. In the tent I typically hang it so the LEDs are pointed up toward the ceiling so the light diffuses more. I haven't measured battery life, but it seems to last a long time as advertised. I like the option of the solar charging though I have not relied on the solar charging. It has been most convenient to plug it into a USB for recharging. Because the battery seems to last so long, I haven't had the need to rely on solar charging yet. I have not needed to use the Luci's ability to charge my cell phone, but that is a nice option and safety net. I've only used it for camping, but I will definitely use it in any power outages at home as it will light up a room much better than a candle or flashlight. It also deflates down to a thin (maybe 1/2 inch thick) disk. It is fairly light as well. The only slightly negative thing I can say is that it could be easier to operate the inflate/deflate valve. You have to squeeze the base of the value to allow air in or out. What I have been doing to inflate it from a flattened state is to pinch the valve at the base (without blowing into it) then pull it out into shape and it automatically inflates, sucking air into it. I get it at least half inflated that way then blow in the rest. Same process in reverse to deflate.

Safe candles! Excellent for camping!
by Dorayme,Top Contributor: Guitars (5 out of 5 stars)

I love how my Mpowered Luci lights are safe and provide lighting for all kinds of situations. When I saw the candle, I thought, how neat it would be to have low lighting in the tent without having to worry about batteries, flames, bulbs, etc. Luci has once again provided an excellent product in the candle. It's solar, so no need to worry about running out of energy/fuel. No melting wax or odd scents. No flame. It's a permanent bulb, so there's no parts to need to worry about finding a replacement. The amber color, combined with the frosted exterior allows for a soft and warm flickering glow. It's not enough for task lighting at 25 lumens, but plenty to allow for navigating one's way into or out of the tent, providing a calming atmosphere, or just to have around for some ambient lighting. I purchased two because just one would be silly! These little solar candles are an excellent addition to my family of solar camping lights! They don't disappoint!

Differences from my other Luci Lights. One LED bulb vs. 10 or more. No battery level indicator. Flicker, low and less low are the available settings vs. low, medium, high and flashing. It has a smaller diameter than the multi-bulb lights. The vinyl material is perhaps a wee bit thinner, but not so much so that I feel it's cheap. It seems to be scaled to the entire size of the light. One "strap" attachment point on the solar panel side of the light, none on the inflation side.

I think these would make great gifts!
