Idea is good but the quality is SO low

I got this for my boyfriend for Christmas since he loves the video game. I was so excited to get it and when I told him about it he was very excited. What a creative idea for a product! Unfortunately the excitement was followed by frustration - the quality is oh SO low. The first set we got, the orange car simply didn't work because the connection to the phone was completely unreliable - it would lag behind a lot and sometimes just basically started doing random things on its own without touching the control at all. So I contacted Amazon and they sent another set. Guess what, the orange car still didn't work! The little scope thing for the car is supposed to clip into the front opening of the car but the opening is too small so the scope does not stay. We can remedy this ourselves but this just shows how terrible the quality is. Not to mention the software was clearly designed by people who don't understand UI. There is not even a way I could find to exit the app - the only way to exit is to put the phone to sleep then back to get the button that shows all apps running to show up so I can kill the app (my phone has only software back,home, all running apps button). And if there's a problem (eg, the car lost connection) while using the app again I need to do this to kill the app and restart it.

So to sum up - idea is good, implementation is really bad. Wait till the company can manage to do some decent testing to get it.

Absolutely fantastic. Bought this for my partner and had it shipped to Scotland, UK. Came extremely quick. The app is not out for the U.K. as of yet but a simple change of location in your settings to the US and it will allow you to download the app. It is as big as the photos and brilliant. App is easy to download and use also. Definitely worth the money

This awesome set is easy to pack up and set up, meaning my son could bring it in suitcase when we visited family and have fun with his relatives. This set an innovative way to bring video gaming into the real world and create a fun, interactive experience for the whole family - except that it only comes with two cars! Thankfully, we found a solution: the Galaxy Zega tanks on Amazon. These app-controlled vehicles work similarly to the Rocket League cars and are the correct scale. We are happy to now be able to play with four players.

Great Concept, poorly executed but salvagable.

OK. Will Mattel listen? Probably not.

I feel the cars and arena are well made. The concept is fun although would have been more fun with at least 2 v 2 instead of 1 v 1.

OK Then what's the problem? The cars are impossible to control with the smart devices and this makes the game suck. Really most of the time is spent trying to see if you can get your car to do what you would like it to do. Whoever does this first or gets lucky will score. This is stupid.

How could it be much better? They should make optional remote/RC controls that control the cars better. We'll pay if it is a fair price (maybe $40 for 2). They can be made cheaply in China and would add value to the game .

This game COULD be amazing. I wonder how it's possible for none of the game testers to have mentioned this...just crazy.

50% fun, 50% despair

The concept is better than the actual product. Controlling the cars is not easy and a lot of games seem like they're being played by two very drunk drivers, a lot of the goals being absolutely accidental. Luckily, the app allows to edit the score and delete accidental dumb goals. Sometimes the goal post detector thinks the cars are the ball, and that can be frustrating too.

The cars, ball, arena and charger all look great. However, it's a pain to try to charge the orange car. The blue one fits perfectly in the charger; the orange one keeps jumping out of the base. I have to put a heavy object on top of it to avoid this exasperating nuisance.

That said, it's a fun product - just very, very imperfect and requiring patience.

Kids got it for Christmas. I was somewhat skeptical that it could be as fun as the video game but it is! Takes up a decent amount of floor space but it works well and every time we have a problem/want with it , an update comes out and fixes or adds it! Good product lots of fun.

Low Quality and Buggy

Some of the clips on the bumpers look like they weren't molded correctly so they don't clip on so the bumpers that are supposed to attach to them. Aside from that if you look at the screens that go in the goals you see that the holes on the sides are not the same for both plastic screens. Aside from the low quality materials, the sensors for the goals are super sensitive. If the ball goes across the goals it'll mark that as a goal, the ball doesn't even have to go in the goal. The whole experience was just bad with this

A little difficult to control at first, but assembled in minutes and worked perfectly. You must use it with a smart phone or pad though. There are no controllers included.
