Great Unique Gift, Hours of Fun
by Joan R (5 out of 5 stars)

I got this kit as a gift for my 10 year old niece. She's recently become an Avengers Fan - especially since the Black Panther movie. She likes playing with Lego but I was worried that this might be too complicated for her - I was totally wrong. This toy kept her occupied for hours, and she has not yet gone through all of the activities. Good combination of arts and crafts (she decorated her wearable with her own stickers and coloured paper) and science (she coded the Light display to show a pizza-seriously cool). We were all pretty impressed at how much she can do with it. Highly recommend for someone looking for a gift for a smart Marvel Fan.

Lots of configurations

I got this for my 4 year old daughter for something for us to do that required following instructions and yet had plenty of room for imagination. The little bits that connect together are really beautifully designed. They use magnets to make them just snap together making it supper easily for little children to do. It also adds a bit of robustness as it comes apart easily if the kids are not careful limiting risk of damage to the electronics. My daughter really loved just experimenting putting different bits together and just seeing what they do. She loves the Iron Man hand that acts as a stand the most, she runs around yelling Super Man! Wrong universe but she loves it!

Wearable tech packed with teachable moments
by M.D. (5 out of 5 stars)

Our kids enjoyed building and remote-controlling a Star Wars droid with the Droid Inventor Kit, but the Avengers Hero Inventor Kit feels like a leap forward from LittleBits.

For a start, the various electronic bits go inside a wearable gauntlet-style casing. Wearing superhero gear you built yourself has obvious play potential. But what we really liked about this kit was the fact that to create various powers, you build linear circuits, then swap different bits in and out to get different power effects. That resulted in a few good "a ha!" moments, with our 9 year old running off to show Mom what she'd made this time.

The sense of "cause and effect" when combining different bits is pretty clear, even when trying to explain "what an accelerometer is..." to a kid. Designing different LED light displays on the phone app and seeing them show up on the LED accessory was cool too. There's plenty of licensed superhero gear in the toy aisle, but the Junior Tony Stark aspect of building your own powers is hard to beat, and the linear way the bits combine does feel like there's educational value baked in.

10-year old nephew loved it!!

We bought this for our nephew (10 years old) and he LOVED it! He had a great time putting it together, and really liked being trained by all of the superheroes. His parents were really happy that it was educational as well - bonus!

Hands on engineering fun
by B (5 out of 5 stars)

My daughters and I have spent a couple hours experimenting with the Inventor Kit, and have had a great time. The companion app is intuitive and walks you through all of the steps of creating circuits, testing them, and then customizing them. My oldest is slightly younger than the target demographic, but she had a great time assembling circuits, creating her own Hero Icon, and then of course wearing the gauntlet (that she built!) and showing off her own design to family. Scrolling forward through the app's various modules, it appears that we have only started to scratch the surface of what this set offers for hands on engineering/design activities. My kids also loved mixing and matching the various sets of stickers for the gauntlet - including the blank, create-your-own ones.

Hours of fun, worth the money!

We bought this kit for our daughter (8 years old) thinking it would be a fun activity for her over the Labor Day weekend. We're nearing the end of the month, and she still hasn't gotten tired of playing with it. The kit has a gorgeous app with heroes that teach you things through different missions/activities. These include assembling different circuit configurations or coding instructions for the matrix to display different things or for the sound effect Bit to play different hero sounds. These start off simple and gradually increase in difficulty as you progress through the activities. Aside from the app, the gauntlet itself is really well made. The accelerometer and sensor in the kit are both really cool. She's been able to run around the house without any of the Bits falling off. She can't wait to redecorate her gauntlet and incorporate this into her costume for Halloween. This is a wonderful learning toy, and I highly recommend it.

Black Panther-loving niece still playing!
by Alexander (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this kit for my niece who was very into the Black Panther movie. She loved seeing the range of characters used in the app and thought it was cool that she got to "be Shuri" and build her own superhero inventions. She especially liked designing her own images to appear on the LED matrix bit and being able to code the arm device (she just started learning about coding in school). A few weeks later and she's still playing with it, so I'll take that as a sign of a good gift from her uncle!

School/STEM Educator Review of littleBits Invention Kits
by Luciana Vasquez (5 out of 5 stars)
November 6, 2018

Target group: elementary K-5 public school with a STEAM innovative program designation. Our 5th graded gifted/high achiever class assisted with this review, along with other reviews for littleBits invention kits that we purchased.

Pros:
-Students were very engaged after opening and organizing parts and materials.
-Allowed students to tinker with individual components to see how they worked without initial instruction (Makerspace mentality).
-Encourages collaboration as a small group activity.
-App interface was easy to access, use, and follow. Videos were detailed for builds, and completion unlocked the next video/build.
-From the viewpoint of a teacher, various builds can lead to connections to science standards (series circuits, forms of energy, forces & motion, the scientific process, etc). Students were very excited about what their arm attachment could do and would go to the other groups to show off.
-Will be a great addition to our future Makerspace room!

Cons:
-Build instructions should also be available online (web-based). Not all schools readily have access to smart devices like phones or tablets. My students had to use their own personal devices (elementary students don't all have smart phones).
-Cardboard components may not last if the kits are disassembled and passed on in a school setting. I would consider plastic molds/parts.

Engaging and educational

We bought this for my son as a 'big brother' gift for when his baby sister was born. He loves it and it's been keeping him occupied for long periods of time which has been great. I like that it's educational too, so he's learning as well as having fun with it. He was really excited to build something like this on his own, and the app is easy for him to use. I definitely recommend, especially if they are into STEM type toys and activities. I'm now planning on getting one of their other kits for him for xmas this year too.

It's awesome. Not worth the money though.

My daughter loves this thing. But, I dont feel it's worth the high price tag. I think an $80-$100 price would have been more reasonable.
