Wonderful!

I admit that I can't be impartial. For some reason the X Wing's design has always given my the chills. Just such a cool vehicle! That spirit is well translated into this LEGO model, which has the appropriately bulky, contoured look of the larger-scale UCS X Wings from a while back, but is mini-figure scale. Compared to the last minifig scale Xwing (OT only) this is an amazing improvement. Compared to the more recent X Wings sets from the sequel trilogy, much of the build appears to be similar; the real differences that I can spot are in the engines and wing open/close mechanism (and the overall coolness!). This model is equally swooshable and displayable, especially if you manage to craft some kind of stand for it. It's very well balanced at the middle, and therefore very easy to put on a simple stand. The minigures have a new helmet mold, breaking with the rebel pilot helmets LEGO has been putting out since the start of the LEGO Star Wars line. Those were perfect; these are nice too but I can see why some may not like them. They are quite large; seeming out of proportion even on such an out of proportion model as a minifigure. But in the source material the helmets were rather comically large on some pilots, and the difference to me is immaterial. Minifigs already have a cartoony look. The new helmets have nice printing, nice molding, and a build in molded visor. I'll be curious to see if LEGO keeps these as the standard or if they will make more changes in the future. They managed to put a molded visor on the sequel trilogy X-Wing pilot helmets, and those were equal in size to the original OT helmets. 3 points on this model that either could be better, or are just a fact of LEGO: 1.When in their closed position, the wings will all droop downward thanks to gravity. This is bound to happen - those rubber bands are only so strong. It would not be noticeable except for the fact that on the front of all 4 wings is a wedge-shaped plate; when the wings droop they will be visibly out of alignment! 2. The sides of the cockpit are covered just by very long curved slope pieces. The way these attach feels a bit tenuous, and given the way LEGO has a bit of give to it, you may be able to see through them into the cockpit. 3. Like the sequel trilogy X Wings, this model "recommends" the fat ugly spring-loaded shooters on the end of each wing. I hate these - luckily they are easy to NOT put on.

The first good Xwing in years
by Styke (5 out of 5 stars)

It's been over a decade since the last movie-accurate X-wing was released by lego and this one is true to A New Hope, which is exactly what I want to go with my Y-wing and Tie Fighter, completing my classic trilogy collection perfectly. A solid, engaging build that uses some really clever tricks to fill space, this actually feels like an 80$ build. Size is near perfect, because I felt it looked too small in the pictures. It's not Ultimate Collector's, but it's still a solid model. You can remove the stud launchers from the sides with an easy tweak using the spare parts.

Awesome it is. Buy you must.

This product was awesome. It was easy to put together and a lot of fun. I don't even care if I'm a 26 year old that bought a LEGO Star Wars ship to put together. I am one with the force and the force is with me!

Great for display or play
by Luke Gonzales (4 out of 5 stars)

The new Lego Incom T-65 X-Wing starfighter (75218) for 2018 is a must have for Star Wars fans of all ages. This build is the perfect mix of play features and accuracy. The kids will love its two proton torpedo launchers (Stud shooters) and its four laser cannons (Spring shooters) along with the quick S-Foil wing action. Collectors will enjoy this build for its superb detail and scale. For the price I paid (80 USD) I would say this is a pretty great mid tier collectors or play set for the money. My only gripes about the build are the laser cannons being too loose for my liking and droop slightly, but this is only visible upon very close inspection, and the rear engine assemblies which can fall off if given a good bump. The figures included in this set are excellent. The new helmets for the rebels are a great plus for this set and getting Biggs Darklighter, his astromech, and unique Red 3 wing markings was a great addition! To summarize, whether its sitting on a shelf or being played with, this Lego X-Wing will not disappoint.
(My included image has the spring shooters on the wings removed for a more movie accurate look)

a solid modern redesign of a perennial classic
by Loren (4 out of 5 stars)

a pleasant redesign which makes good use of modern pieces and sports better attention to proportion and detail than the last original trilogy x-wing. i was pleasantly surprised to find that this is a more thorough redesign than i anticipated. it uses some techniques from older builds (the fuselage, the cockpit sides), but much craft, including the wing mechanism, has undergone a fairly thorough rethinking.

i was very pleased with the new pilot and silver astromech minifigs.

this set leans a little closer to playset than display model, though it sports some very nicely detailed regions (such as the engines and the lovely hexagonal rear portion). this set features some rather clever use of pieces. i was very pleased by the use of fanlight pieces as engine cowling.

better price per part than some other recent ships such as the 75211 tie fighter.

More fun than my original Kenner toy!
by Florida Dad (5 out of 5 stars)
August 30, 2019

Yeah, I've been around long enough to have been one of those kids who eagerly awaited Christmas or birthday with the expectation of perhaps getting a new Star Wars toy after the original movie came out. The X-Wing certainly is one of the most iconic vehicles of the series and this Lego set really does it justice. The build for the front/nose section was original and fun with some interesting techniques (this is my first Lego version of this craft), while building the wings got a tad repetitive. Once complete, the whole thing is solid, satisfying, and "swooshable" - making a detailed (enough) display piece or fun toy. I especially appreciate how the R2 unit can fit facing forward (something not possible with the recent Y-Wing set), as he should. This set is a great value given the price here on Amazon. If you've been waiting to get it, I'd say now is the time! You won't be disappointed.

Cool toy a little challenging to put together

Very cool toy but not very easy to put together. Instructions were not completely clear as I had to assist my 5 year old son with putting this together. He loves the toy and plays with it all the time. It is not something I would want him to take apart as it takes quite a while to put it together.

Awesome set continues to let my daughter expand her universe of play
by Leper Khan (5 out of 5 stars)
October 13, 2019

Great set- after my daughter built it she has played with this ship extensively. She got this for 7th birthday and it took her about a day and a half to finish this with 100% focus. She has a lot of experience already despite being 7 due to her older brothers. It's now part of her smashed up world of Star Wars, Harry Potter, and this beaver family town thing she got from Grandma. I'd say it's weird to see beavers in space but Rocket Raccoon has really broken the glass ceiling for all small mammals.

Seems like a good solid Lego set.
by MNPilot (4 out of 5 stars)

Got this one together yesterday, pretty straight forward and easy to complete. Just takes time. Feels solid, the only one minor miss is the engine outlets, they do fall off occasionally. Should have been more a part of the wing for stability. It's probably one of those places were some superglue would help or a redesign. The wings are held together by rubber bands and they do snap together with some authority. Cool set.

Lots of play value in this set

I bought this for my 9 year old grandson's birthday. He wanted a large Lego set with lots of parts. He was tired of doing the "baby" sets (as he called them). He built this in less than two days and had a ball doing it. I recommend it highly,.
