No Coyotes Yet but Some Great Night Images
by Bill O (5 out of 5 stars)
July 23, 2018

I bought this to keep any eye on my ponies which live in an outdoor enclosure. I've been hearing coyotes howling out in the woods and was wondering if they'd been around the barn bothering my ponies. No nighttime visitors have shown up yet but I'm very impressed with the quality of the night vision abilities of his trial cam. I set it to take photos and then begin to record video. Along the bottom of the video it gives the time and date and even the temperate in both Celsius and Fahrenheit. I've included examples of both the photo and video it's made.

Best trailcam yet!
by charles murphy (5 out of 5 stars)
January 9, 2019

Summary: I've had seven different brand and models of trailcams over the last 10 years, and the TOGUARD H45 is both the best and least expensive one I've ever used. I love it!

Details:
- Good instruction manual, the print is large enough to actually read, it contains everything you need to know and nothing you don't. It's in nice clear English and several other languages.
- The camera menu is clear and simple, if you've used one of these before you really don't even need to read the manual.
- Unlike all other trailcams I've had, it remembers your date and time settings, even when you change batteries!
- The image quality is the best I've seen of the 7 brands and models of trail cameras I've owned. The colors are accurate in daylight and the black and white images by the infrared light at night are sharp and clear.
- The trigger speed is amazing, fast enough to catch a hawk in flight! See my sample image.
- The videos are true HD quality, good enough to share on your TV or YouTube.
- It's handy having 3 separate sensors, you can turn on all 3, or just the center one.
- The color LCD screen is a good size and good quality, again, best I've seen on any trailcam.
- TOGUARD even includes a handy little bracket you can use to mount the camera on your house, or even as a mini-tripod if you screw the bracket to a chunk of wood. See my photo.
- A pleasant surprise: Unlike most suppliers in China and a lot in the USA, TOGUARD actually has customer support! I had one technical question, and they got right back to me in less than 24 hours with a solution. I've had other products where the vendor actually expects you to send the product back to them in China at your expense! TOGUARD support is great.
- One minor issue to be aware of: The specs don't mention it, but the video format is AVI, which almost all software can handle. However, the October 2018 release of Adobe Lightroom Classic for Mac no longer imports AVI files. This is probably not an issue for most people because nobody really uses Lightroom to process video, but if you catalog your video files in Lightroom like I do, it's a minor annoyance, not worth deducting one star for. Of course, you can always just use QuickTime or Irfan View, etc. to view and edit your videos, so this isn't really a problem. Overall, I still really like the camera.

Home Security Use
by Tim Hernandez (5 out of 5 stars)

I got this for the main purpose of capturing vehicles parked or passing by in front of my house as there was a DUI roll over in my front yard and to capture license plates if parked right in front. I get about 3-4 days (depending how many cars pass) of footage set at 1080 20 sec vid and one picture. I previously had it at 3 secs and then 10 sec vid but by the time the car passed the video would capture nothing. I can read the license plates as long as they are within 15-20ft, the car's plates in the middle of the street are hard to make out but i get to identify the vehicle. I put in 8 batteries and they drained within 2 days so i'll just hookup a cord later. The audio is a nice touch so I can hear what the exhaust or person sounds like. At night the picture is distorted due to low lighting but hey can't complain for the price. I put this on my lamp post and it blends well with the foliage.

Excellent Quality For The Price!
by SusieQute (5 out of 5 stars)

We set up this camera mostly for security as we're on a dead-end road. We've got Ring for the doorbell at a different angle. The quality is amazing for this price. We priced a couple others well over $100 and their quality wasn't this good! Even the night picture, my neighbor can be seen clearly. The camera is awesome just to keep you informed of neighborhood activities.. We were gone to work and I had no idea the ambulance was here until I saw the video so I was able to go help and check on my neighbor. It's just SO simple to use and set-up. We tried it with a 2GB MicroSD and ended up opting for the 32GB to let it capture for a few weeks while we're on vacation. The battery life is amazing! After 25 days, still shows FULL! There were not any false-positives out of the basic default set-up. We didn't have to tweak anything. We have a lot of feral cats running around and it picked a couple up when only in our yard. We are VERY pleased with this camera. Again, so easy to use. Being in Florida, we get a lot of rain every day. This has stayed very dry inside. Good seal! I love that you can set just pictures or video, or both. The 24-hour clock is helpful as the entire timestamp is a great asset! I can't say enough about this TOGUARD camera. We'll be getting another for the backyard as we have a lot of wildlife and we want to capture them. Give this camera a try. You won't be sorry. Oh, and their instruction book is AMAZING! Very detailed. Just another confirmation that this company is top notch!

Works Great
by Buddy (5 out of 5 stars)

We put out food for outside cats on our deck. By morning food was gone so wondered if cats alone were eating all the food. We got this Trail Camera from Amazon and set it up that very night. Directions were not to bad to understand. By morning we found out who the freeloaders were so will not leave cat food on the deck overnight any more.

Simple and Fun
by James (5 out of 5 stars)
July 18, 2018

I ordered this camera so that I might record what type of animal is raiding the cat's food at night. Previously we had a problem with raccoons and I would trap and relocate them. All efforts to trap them recently have been unsuccessful and the cat's food bowl would be empty every morning. I set up the camera and we found out what was happening to the cat food. Included is footage of a cat that is obviously disabled by a leg injury. Now that we know what is eating the food we have decided to leave it a little extra each night. The camera is not difficult to set up and easily mounted using the included hardware. Anyone that has set up any digital camera can have this up and running in an hour. When you place your order be sure to also purchase a 32G micro SD card and 8 AA batteries. I will soon include some daytime footage that I have taken. All of the footage is easily uploaded to any computer or tablet using the included USB to micro USB cord. I have uploaded footage onto my neighbor's IPAD, he is eight and enjoys putting the content on You Tube. Fun and simple, this would surely be useful to anyone looking to capture motion triggered images. I recommend this purchase to anyone that finds they have a need similar to my own. My questions were answered the first night I set the camera up. Although we are never awake when he comes by the visiting cat has been named Hobbs and is now welcome to eat whenever he pleases.

Update: What appears to be a flood light in the background is the reflection of an infrared security camera. Below that are two flood lights that were turned off. The entire videoing area was completely dark.

Update: The presence of the infrared security camera seemed to be causing a flickering effect during the filming of the cat. This footage of a raccoon was taken with the camera turned in the opposite direction. The infrared security camera no longer has an effect on images captured by the trail camera. I tried to add a video of me setting up the camera during the day in pouring down rain, but was unable to add a second video.

Update: For anyone that has questions about the camera's water protection I have just included a video that was acquired while I was setting up the camera. I had the water resistant door open between adjustments and still did not realize any issues due to the rain which was quite heavy throughout the process and well into the night.

My intial, second and 3rd reaction 4 Star to 5 Star
by WorldTraveler (5 out of 5 stars)
January 24, 2019

3rd Review: The attached close up of an Oregon Jay proves the worth of this camera. This is precisely what I was looking for at close range. The photo was taken some 18-24 inches away. Look at the detail. Very nice. It took some two weeks for the bird to finally show up. This really is a 5 star camera, given my requirements for close up photos. It still has lots of battery power left on only 4 batteries. Download the photos and then blow them up. Pretty amazing.

Second Review: So far it is working fine and I am running tests on how close it can get to birds. This fisheye type high F lense will work fine for deer, but I want it to take good close up pictures. I'll send photos when I have them. At 10ft away a hummingbird or any small bird is a mere dot. Right now I have the camera set to about 24 inches. In full sunlight the pictures are good. This will work great for deer and bear, even raccoons. I wish they had a camera with a fixed F1.2 50mm lense.

The snaps on this camera drive me nuts. One has to get the hang of how to hold the camera because the snaps are so small. Downloading the photos is easy. Just hook up the cable to your computer and the camera. Boom, you get DCIM and you look at the photos. Programming this thing is simple. The menu is 200x better than cameras 20 years ago.

In the forest I plan to mount this camera in a bird type box with a rain roof. I might buy one of those fake rocks and mount the camera into a cut out retangular hole.

I am still not sure how this camera works for night shots. My early tests were dismal, but not a fair procedure.

The camera is very small com

pared with others I have owned, but does look and feel solid. This is my 4th trail cam in several years. This one works almost the same as every one of the trail cams to found on the market in the past 8 years or so.

I bought this one because "there is no LED display in the area" when shooting pictures at night. On my other three cameras the deer, raccoons, opossums, and maybe the bear have no issue knowing something is seeing them. The animals ignore it and go on about their business. I am hoping that this camera is as fast as they suggest and gives me much clearer pictures. Most cameras can tell you there are deer, but the photos look cheap. I'm convinced that they use SLR camera shots, clean them up in Photoshop, and then publish as examples...ha!

Manual: I have yet to buy a trail cam with an easy to read manual. The English in this manual is pretty good. The flaw is the light gray font 6 of the type. Before you do anything, find a high liner, sit down in a well lit up chair, put on your magnifiers and read the manual. It is important to hilite the various headings and sub-headings. Real men read the manual first. Dissatisfied customers almost always end thinking the camera is horrible because they do know how to work it.

In my triple reading of the section on serial number, the number eluded me or were we supposed to just input any old number we liked? Baffled me so I wrote in nothing and cancelled out.

In the past I have forgotten or lost passwords, so I left that blank as well.

D card - this thing takes the tiny tiny SD card. The lip on the casing gets in the way so you need to be careful. My camera has a sloppy card insert and it took many pushes to finally get the card to stay in. It does not click easily into place like other trail cams. Once in, it did work and I was able to format it. It takes 5 seconds to format. Given this issue and the small nature of the SD I will have to use USB to download photos and videos.

Soon I will be running the camera through various distance tests in daylight. I have yet to buy a trail cam with decent close up capabilities day or night. My interest is the 3 foot range. Most of these cameras have great difficulty getting good night shots because the IR beams wash out the animals. You get raccoons with day-of-the-dead eye sockets.
__________________________________________

Mounting Bracket: All of my trail cams have either come with no mounting bracket or these badly outfitted ones. I went to HomeDepot and found the parts to greatly improve this bracket support permanently. The bolt on the bracket is 1/4" coarse. The two nuts that Toguard supplies are grossly inadequate for a good tight connection to the black mounting base. Buy a 1/4" black rubber gasket just like the one on the camera attachment bolt (the part that goes into the base of the camera). Next, get a 1/4" lock washer and a tiny tube of Lock-Tight.
------TAke off the two nuts. Put one back on and screw it down near as far as it will go. Put on the rubber gasket, which will fit tightly. You may need to turn it like a nut. Then put the black base on. Add a bit of Lock-Tight to the bolt. Put on the 1/4" lock washer. Then put on the second nut and screw it down. Gently use pliers and wrench to get a good torque on the nut. Note in the attached picture that I kept the bolt and nut below the level of the base so it does not interfere with getting a level installation. This really works superbly. Mine is on there permanently. Using only the two nuts requires extreme tightening that often comes loose no matter what you do.

My Cat Food and his Friends
by J. R. Tampa (5 out of 5 stars)

The video was made with TOGUARD Trail Camera.

I wanted to know what other animals came to my back yard, and I was surprise to see more than my cat.

I would recommend this product.

I am very happy with the camera.

Decent camera with a couple of minor flaws.
by Amanda Buck (5 out of 5 stars)
March 14, 2019

When I first received this camera, I found it hard to put the batteries in. The battery compartment has springs on both the positive and negative sides of the battery. It was difficult to get them in without the spring going under the positive tab on the battery. Once they were in, I found the buttons often did not respond to my touch. I had to press the button several times before it would work. The night videos tend to be blurry and it is hard to make out what animal is passing. I am attaching some of the better videos to my review. Other than that, it works decently well.

UPDATE: After seeing my review, customer service contacted me and suggested that I try raising my camera higher. I moved it around to several different places and got better results. It does have to be pretty high off the ground for the flash to not reflect back and wash out the photo and video. Further from the animal is better. The camera is now taking decent shots and I have not yet had to change the batteries. I have updated my review and photos accordingly. Given the minor flaws, I would rate this camera a 4.5 if I could.

worked well at the beginning but doesn't last at all. Be aware
by Dr. Who (1 out of 5 stars)

this trial camera has really decent image and acceptable battery life. I was always curious about why there were holes in my front yard and this camera captures all that. It is weather resistant at least to heavy rainy, it is still working fine after days of raining which is very well expected. Price is affordable and I always comparing that to security camera but this won my vote because of it works independently which fits better of my use case.
-------

Edit:

I thought this was solid and good quality, however only after 5 days, is stopped recording. I might because of the weather because it is been raining for 5 days and temp dropped however nonetheless this should be very well weather resistant for sever change. Very disappointed and I am going to return it.
