Awesome little device!

I bought "Tivoo Retro Speaker" for $79.00 from Divoom Official on August 23, 2018. I have this at my desk at work, and I use this strictly as a 16x16 pixel art device and not as a speaker. Like all art pieces, some people will find these to be a complete waste (my coworker could not believe I paid so much for this). I think this is a fun little device and I enjoy having it display things on my desk. My only wish is that this were 32x32 and not 16x16, but maybe Divoom will create a new 32x32 pixel art device in the future.

The device itself is great, but the Android app is a bit clunky. It still does get the job done once you get used to is, so maybe this is not a big deal. The app makes it easy for you to load your own creation, and has a lot of other animations that you can download from their cloud service.

I am giving this four stars because while the device itself is great, the app could use some work.

Fun little retro speaker

I use this speaker in my office for mostly background, ambient music with a fun, whimsical 16x16 display. This speaker does not disappoint, it really delivers! It's capable of sound much louder and deeper than I need, so I barely even crack the volume. Battery life is good, but I keep the display on all day so I leave it plugged in. The app is a little quirky and takes some figuring out, but I had the speaker up, paired, and synched with the app with no instruction. I work in a very techie, nerdy office and everyone that has passed by my door was impressed with my little retro TV, most people don't even realize it's a Bluetooth speaker; it does a great job of creating non-directional sound. You could literally put it anywhere in a room and it will sound good. This was a good find!

I absolutely love this little thing. The sound quality is amazing for a speaker so small. Battery life is excellent and the pixel art options are endless and so much fun. I got a great deal on the black model - I guess no one wants black but I love it. Can't wait to see what Divoom has in store for us next.

Love the product so far! I bought to mainly for the alarm purpose but the cool pixel art creation option as well as the pretty decent speaker quality sets it apart from cheaper options! I wish the battery life was slightly better but it's nothing to knock it down a star!

Honestly this thing is a giant waste of money

I suffer from bipolar agoraphobia and basically lights and sounds help me with my mood and everything else and I figured this would be a great device unfortunately I just wasted my entire disability check on this just about does this is such a waste of money

it's really nothing more than a giant screensaver on a small television and that's it and unfortunately I have no way of returning it because I don't live anywhere near a UPS store and it would take me forever to get there and I have an older car and I can't do it so I am out about 80 bucks which I am not happy about

If you're thinking about buying one of these you know think about buying the cheaper ones that are running about 20 bucks you'll probably be a lot happier and save yourself $60 and get the same effects you may not get all the special effects but you'll get what you pay for and you'll be much happier than I am.

so yeah this was a giant waste of money and I'm not happy if the company would like to refund me that would be amazing because I like to get my money back on my credit card I don't need an Amazon credit this time I need the money back cuz this is something I wish I could return but I can't because I live nowhere near a UPS store and also I don't have a printer so it's impossible to return something like this so I am stuck with it.

So yeah my advice look elsewhere

I've owned a fair amount of bluetooth speakers ranging in price and quality. When I'd seen a YouTube review for this little guy I knew I had to have it, mainly for the "cutesy" factor. The retro aesthetic of the overall design and the pixel animations drew me in, but I wasn't expecting to fall in love with all of the other features.

First of all, setup was a breeze. It easily connected to both my phone and my laptop via bluetooth. The app was super easy to use and I love the fact that it had both an alarm function and a sleep function, both with its own library of sound options OR using your device's music. You can set it up to flash random pixel images, selected pixel images, or (my favorite) have it show you a clock, weather reports, and/or the date.

The sound quality is amazing for such a little guy. It's much louder and way more clear than other speakers of the same size that I have owned in the past.

The quality of the device is quite good, considering the fact that at a glance it appears to be just a novelty. It's nicely weighted with rubberized feet to keep it from sliding. The sides, dials and buttons feel like a good quality plastic. Overall, the make of the product far exceeded my expectations.

But my favorite aspect has to be the battery life. I really wanted to be able to use this speaker as my alarm clock without having to keep it plugged in all night and I am happy to report that I've gone a full week using this as my primary alarm and have yet to have it die on me.

I'm over the moon with my new speaker, and would consider buying another one in the future.

Very shady company with Horrible Customer Service

UPDATE: Horrible customer service by company. Have tried to contact them directly on a failed unit (after only a month), have not responded to multiple emails. Also applied for a free dual-port USB charger (a promotion included with my purchase) -- a month later, and they still haven't sent me the unit. Do NOT deal with, a waste of your time.

Already had the Divoom AuraBox and Timebox, and decided to add this to my collection... and must say, wasn't at all disappointed. Better sound than either in my honest opinion, and love the displays. Gave the battery life only 4 stars because I've only had it a limited amount of time, but the build quality and sound quality are great. I even like the packaging. So Divoom does it again with yet another great product with great sound and great quality.

Pic of speaker with one of the clock options. Can have the screen cycle combination of clock, weather, temp, date or just have a pixel animation (community builds and shares for free download).

First screenshot shows the additional apps you can select as desired. I like the noise meter, sleep timer (with white noise or rain or whatever in second screenshot), and the manual scoreboard.

Great sound for such a small item. Has a sound visualizer mode when playing music and channels to internet radio stations. Runs off usb - says holds a six hour charge but I just keep it plugged in. Works with a phone app and Bluetooth or WiFi.

failed after several months

Has a lot of functionalities. Sounds OK. My only complaint is that it can not connect to the pc via bluetooth. When I connect it to my PC using the audio jack and charge it at the same time, it makes a hissing sound which is very annoying.

Update: Several months later itcan not turn on anymore. Only half of the screen flashes. Very disappointed.

Won't hold it charge, defective?

Its not holding its charge. I tried multiple charging cables, but it won't stay turned on. If its charging it will display the battery icon empty, then turn off. I've left it charging over night and it didn't charge it all the way.

I decided to give it another try. And it just kept turning on and off with the empty battery icon for 10min. It finally held some of it charge... But I'm hesitant to trust the long term life of the product. Its disappointing because its an awesome product. Hoping I just got a defective one.
